Welcome back Toto
I agree TriSki I’m missing the running buzz so much. Sitting on a bike in the garage doesn’t have the same feel to it, more of a chore and I find it harder to keep going. Oh well I just have to have some patience- which I’ve never been great at.

@IRun4Me and @TriSkiRun99 glad you have managed to get some biking/swimming done instead. Hope you are both able to get back to it after a rest. Last year I had an injury and the physio told me not to run but he was right but it was so frustrating. I came back so much stronger though so hang in there.

Low heart rate run 8 miles on Thursday and 18 miles this morning in the wind. Getting fed up of every weekend long run being a wind battle - 3 weeks in a row now!

The wind is getting a bit annoying now isn’t it! In saying that, a pretty calm day here today & lovely sunshine. Was prepared for snow but nothing happened. Pretty fresh mind you, about -2, but a lovely day for a run. First race of the year is next Sunday so going to ease off on the mileage this week - a relief as I have to drive to and from Dundee for 4 days.

Not run for almost a week, battling cold, a tight chest (asthmatic), and cough. I’m planning on going running with a friend on Wednesday so I hope I feel better by then.

Amaura · 23/02/2020 22:31

Hi all,

Was on here ages ago under a different name. I’m just about to start to push from half marathon to marathon distance having signed up the the Ring of Steall skyrace in September. Does mean I’ve found myself drifting away from my running club somewhat so thought I’d seek a virtual gang.

Did a local trail half ish race today. Very muddy, hilly and windy so slow going, however got 9th lady so pretty chuffed despite the slower than target time

Mileage for the month 88.5

Well done on your race Amaura! The Ring of Steall - that's quite a race to go for! Good luck with the training, what an amazing experience that race will be.

Panticus · 25/02/2020 10:36

Running in the wind is the pits - I'd take rain any day.

Just a 6km quickie for me but the foot held up fine - yay. I also managed a 24:10 5km which I was pretty happy with - I'm determined to get down into the 22s this year and I think it will be doable as today was not toooo hard.

Still ill. Not ill ill, but there’s no way I could run anywhere with my chest the way it is. I’m actually missing it. Well, I am mainly missing the gym. But am also missing running.

Amaura · 25/02/2020 17:00

Thanks emummy

Strandliv · 27/02/2020 07:38

Thanks @PaddingtonPaddington I think I’m starting to feel a bit better and my asthma now seems to be under better control. Going to try a light run on Saturday to make sure.

TriSkiRun99 · 27/02/2020 10:11

I’m still on enforced run break with injury so fed up and now got the cold the kids had HT, but made myself do 30min walk around block after dropping DD to school when I would have normally done a 5k run so I still got some fresh air. I had hoped to test out running Fri as it be 2.5wks since a proper run and good 14d zero running but think I may need longer. Gee it’s frustrating and affecting my mental health more than my physical I think. Hope others injured / ill feel better soon as well.

emummy · 27/02/2020 14:00

Quick early morning run in the freezing cold & dark.

Amaura · 27/02/2020 22:26

Steady run yesterday and short hill reps tonight
tri I ended up having a year off due to shin splints. Took a whole season but I’m stronger than I was before. However having had so long off, I was able to relax knowing it would be a long journey back.

Hope your not too frustrated for too much longer and your able to start cross training at least

Lunch run in the pouring rain and windy yet again.

@TriSkiRun99 did you manage a run today?

436.3

IRun4Me · 29/02/2020 11:20

I did it. I’ve been back out.
After being sorted out and the back realigned I was allowed to give it a go today. Just a very short one to test but no stabbing pains just a dull ache. Felt so good to be out running, I had missed it so much.

Well done iRun

A very tired 16 miles today. We have a small group of 4/5 who try and do runs together. It was one persons bday so they chose the route with a well deserved brunch afterwards. The route was 12 miles so ran around beforehand and took my turn at being at the back and the slow member of the group today.

Next week is a recovery week 🎉 which is handy as I’m away on a course. After that I’ll stick at this mileage for a month because I’ve learnt my body needs a good acclimatisation period after stepping up mileage

Adding this weeks' mileage, a short, medium and a longer 13 miler yesterday for me. Felt good to get back into double figures.

TriSkiRun99 · 29/02/2020 20:55

Got out for ParkRun today yah! Smileit was quite an experience of a rainbow, hail coming in sideways with 30-40mph gusts, sand blasting then sunshine. I loved it, was on a lovely high after, still had foot niggles which I iced after the run so will need to take it easy for few more weeks.
Good to hear other folk are out enjoying the lovely stormy weekend weather yet again!

TriSkiRun99 · 29/02/2020 20:57

Amaura · 01/03/2020 12:18

emummy · 01/03/2020 15:23

Fingers crossed all the injuries continue to improve.
10 mile road race today in Arbroath, women only, great atmosphere and a nice course. All accompanied by traditional Spring weather of howling gales and driving rain! The last hundred metres was over grass which cancelled out my attempt at a sprint finish, but still got a 2 minute PB so happy with that. And there was the promised mini bottle of wine in the goodie bag so hurray!

PaddingtonPaddington · 01/03/2020 16:22

Well done @IRun4Me and @TriSkiRun99 for both getting out and hope all continues well.

@emummy fab to get a PB, well done

Another weekend long run in driving wind but at least it wasn’t raining.

IRun4Me · 03/03/2020 08:18

Well done emummy on your PB. Glad you are out again TriSkiRun. And well done everyone getting out in this weather.
I thought I’d try and go a bit further yesterday. Hoped I might manage 4 or 5 miles. It was such a beautiful day and I’d missed it so much I just kept going. I managed 9 in the end. The last mile was a killer though. A bit stiff this morning but overall all ok. So hopefully I will manage my half marathon this weekend.
