Are you on rest now and eating toast at every opportunity until your race IRun4Me? I would be Smile

I had a nice trail run on Sunday and a decent intervals session today (the dreaded pyramid).

Awesome job emummy

Sounds like it was a good run paddington

A steady 10km ish from me today. Spent 60 mins yesterday doing stretches and rolling

I’ve got an 18 mile walk this weekend so thinking I might only do two runs this weeks and no long one.

Has anyone any recommendations or ones to avoid for running vests

I have a large 15l bag which I originally got for run commuting as had to have my laptop. I hate belts so normally run with that (if having to take spare clothes with me) or just a hand held bottle.

Still not sure what size to use for the Skyrace, but I’ve got various long trail runs and races where some liquid and a stash of phone and snacks would be useful.

I’m also hoping to start some mountain running in April/May if the tops are clear of ice, but guessing I’ll just take the big pack for that.

Panticus · 03/03/2020 20:19

@Amaura I have the Salomon ADV Skin 5 and I love it. They are very popular over here. Super light weight and you can get 2.5L of fluid in them plus lots of pockets for various things. It's actually amazing how much stuff you can get it them - most of the pockets are elasticated so you can really stuff them full if you need to. I use mine on any run longer than 15km.

IRun4Me · 04/03/2020 11:21

Just a short one with the dog. It was hard work though. Now going to rest and and keep my fingers crossed for Sunday

@Amaura I have a Aonijie 5.5l vest that I got from Amazon - cheap and great pockets.

Intervals Tuesday night and a longer run this evening in the wet, dark and cold but ticking off the miles on the training plan is satisfying!

I had a real slog of a run today. I donated blood on Thursday and I think it hurt me a bit. Pic is of hubby going up one of the nasty bits - photos never capture just how steep it is!

Well done Panticus giving blood does make running hard!
Glad you got out Strandliv, I have been off running all week with cough & cold, going to try a short slow run tomorrow

Strandliv · 07/03/2020 18:20

@emummy it wasn’t even that bad of a cold, it’s just sat on my chest for weeks (I’m asthmatic). I need to try and get back into it though, going to try and run again tomorrow.

PaddingtonPaddington · 07/03/2020 19:15

@Panticus well done on the slog run and for giving blood.

I had a hard slog long run today going out just before sunrise as had so much to fit in today I needed to start early. It wasn’t the best idea as didn’t have time to digest breakfast so went without but got it done.

I did it. It was hard work at times but I managed my half marathon. Ran some of it with a friend but then let her go ahead. It was a good route and the crowds were amazing. And I finished it 2 minutes slower than my last half. So very happy

Great job Irun

Yes blood donation wipes me out for a few days.

paddington I think those long runs when your under fuelled or under rested do you good in the long run (provided you listen and take it slower - I call it enjoying the views)

13.5 miles to add spread over a few little runs. Did a 7 hour walk as well. I’m sure running would have been less tiring overall.

Well done IRun! Sounds like a good day.

TriSkiRun99 · 09/03/2020 07:57

Well done irun and others struggling post illness.

I’ve only done one ParkRun in 3 wks and now sitting here thinking I need to run but v.nervous about going out again. Illness & injury and horrid hormones playing havoc with my self confidence again. Arrhh I will report back after school drop off that I have ranSmile there that keeps me accountable. Have downloaded a podcast and will go slow.

TriSkiRun99 · 09/03/2020 09:41

Did it a stop /start slow5k. Foot still giving me issues Sad it’s hard to remember I actually ran 14m in mid January and now struggling to run 2m. Off to see my sports massage lady later today really hoping she can help.

Stumpedasatree · 09/03/2020 10:32

Just popping on to to see if any of you knowledgeable people can recommend a warm running jacket, ideally windproof and water resistant, but doesn't have to be. I haven't got a massive budget. Thanks.

emummy · 09/03/2020 10:34

Ronhill do good jackets and Decathlon’s Kalenjii range are ok, good prices. The website sportsshoes.com is good for cheaper prices too. I get all my shoes and a lot of my clothes from there.

Strandliv · 09/03/2020 14:36

Well done IRun. I didn’t go yesterday as planned but went early this morning and felt much better this time.

First run in over a week, short & easy paced, felt ok but coughing like mad now. Was so good to get out!

IRun4Me · 10/03/2020 13:05

Thanks everyone. Well done for everyone managing to get out and hang in there those that are ill/injured. You’ll be back out before you know it.
Sorry I can’t be much help with jacket advice I’ve got several but not one that is waterproof. Never found one I’m comfortable in as I get hot when running. I tend to go for the layer approach and a hot shower at the end.

Well done @IRun4Me and glad you got out @emummy

Not much help with the jacket either, I have one but hate wearing it and like IRun I prefer layers.

Short recovery plod Sunday and longer intervals session last night in the pouring rain.

emummy · 10/03/2020 19:35

I quite often wear a gilet, I keep the jacket for properly wet days. Mine is an Innov 8 storm shell and I love it to bits, but they’re not cheap!

IRun4Me · 11/03/2020 10:17

Well that was a bit of a disaster. Thought I’d go for a short run to stretch the legs but the back was so painful I couldn’t do it. Luckily there’s a place nearby where I could let the dog off lead so he got his run. I hobbled along slowly for a bit then limped home. Think I best leave it a few more days.
