Number 14 now full up. I don’t think a new one has been started yet?
November total 191.1. (I think)

Morning run for me... enjoyed the cold, enjoyed the quiet.

No running for me for a week now. Desperate to be out there but my back got worse, so I’m resting at the moment- enforced as I can hardly walk let alone run! Slightly panicking about my half at the beginning of March but will wait and see.

It’s SO frustrating isn’t irun4me I hope your back eases up. Gentle yoga really helps my back. I had frustrating 2k run then had to walk back as foot pain/shin calf issue flared up badly😞going to have to switch to cycling on turbo trainer I think to maintain fitness and take a 2wk break from running, as only managed to run a total of 15k in the last 2weeks.

Strandliv · 12/02/2020 14:34

Sounds awful @IRun4Me. Keeping everything crossed for you to have a speedy recovery.

PaddingtonPaddington · 12/02/2020 19:09

@IRun4Me hope your back starts to recover soon. Fingers crossed for you.

Intervals session last night. Can’t wait for it to be light in the evenings so there’s more choice of where to run. I tend to stick to the local town with the street lights but that means a 3 mile drive.

Sorry about all the injury problems, hope they start to improve.
Working from home today so ran slightly later, in daylight! Most exciting. Freezing though, -4 this morning. Time for hot shower

What's it like running in such cold weather emummy? I cannot even fathom it! Do you have to wear lots of clothes and do you still end up getting hot? Does the cold air hurt your chest? Cold for us is about 14 degrees Grin

PaddingtonPaddington · 13/02/2020 21:08

@emummy very jealous of your run in the daylight but not in the freezing cold. Brrr.

Slow easy paced low heart rate run tonight

emummy · 14/02/2020 07:50

Panticus you must come over one winter and try it! It's fine, layers are key and a good pair of winter running tights. The cold air can be a bit of a shock to the lungs so I usually start off a bit easier and sometimes put my buff up over my nose and mouth for a little bit. You do warm up but all I took off yesterday was my gloves after 2 miles!

Panticus · 15/02/2020 02:46

Sounds doable but it must take a bit of willpower!

Slow longish one for me. Very drizzly but quite mild. I collected about 384 spider webs - not yay.

Oh spider webs, yuck!
Slightly soggy but much milder parkrun this morning; took it steady & managed to run all the hills. 4th in my age group, not going to check out of how many!

Park run for me, oh so muddy!

emummy · 16/02/2020 10:19

Well done myidentity! That’s brilliant.
Panticus my run this morning would make you glad you don’t live in Aberdeenshire! Was trotting along country roads in the sunshine, quite happy, then the sky went dark, the wind got up and it snowed like crazy! I sprinted uphill through horizontal snow to take shelter in some trees. Got totally soaked, then frozen in the wind. Luckily the sun then came out for the next 7 miles but I am still chilly now! Going to have a very long hot shower.

Strandliv · 16/02/2020 12:09

@myidentitymycrisis that’s brilliant. I’m nowhere near there yet, but that is my goal. You’re awesome. Well done!

myidentitymycrisis · 17/02/2020 07:35

@Strandliv and @emummy
Thanks!

I’m running with two friends in a race in two weeks so that gave me a goal to prepare for, before that I was doing C25k. I’m really proud of myself ! It’s all on the flat though .....

Panticus · 17/02/2020 21:12

Ah yes the old four seasons in one day emummy! I live in an area famous for that too! My foot has pulled up a little sore after Saturday so I'm on physio-mandated rest until the weekend. Going a little stir crazy...

Strandliv · 18/02/2020 21:16

Got caught out in the rain today, but still battled through to do a 5km.

PaddingtonPaddington · 19/02/2020 21:11

@myidentitymycrisis well done on the 10k and also well done to @emummy on a parkrun 4th.

I’ve been away so not added updates for a while. Managed a nice 16miler on Saturday in storm Dennis before getting to the airport and a recovery run Sunday in 20degrees - lovely. Also managed to get out again on Tuesday with family on the bikes in the sun.

IRun4Me · 20/02/2020 07:47

Well done on all the achievements everyone.
TriSkiRun How are things? My pain started in my calf before moving to my whole leg then to my back.
I went out for the first time in 2 weeks a very short run. I could feel it not long in and it’s painful again this morning so I think I need to wait a few more days. Back to the yoga and stationary bike!

Sorry you’re still having problems IRun.
20 degrees sounds lovely Paddington!
Very wet run this morning, 2 tempo miles in the middle, felt quite good.

TriSkiRun99 · 20/02/2020 15:12

I’m taking a break from running after my failed 4K on the 12th Feb. I think it’s shin splints having read up on the pain and DH has had it in the past. So I’m taking 2wks off, but been on turbo training and was back in the swim pool last night doing lots of kicking and neither is aggravating the leg which is good. So hoping I can keep up baseline fitness. I’m seriously thinking of cancelling my planned Mid-May marathon and doing a local Triathlon which is on the same day. My DD was already doing the Tri so our family logistics were going to be tight anyway. I had SO wanted to do a marathon this year (my 1st), and really prefer spring as I ramp down the running in Jul/Aug as it’s too warm for me so an autumn marathon won’t work plus I’m already committed to a Sept Tri which will be a real challenge for me. I miss just doing a 5k ParkRun Sad I’m hoping I can go walk ParkRun this Sat or “run/walk” with my youngest DD which is normally around 40mins so quite chilled.

TriSkiRun99 · 20/02/2020 15:13

Hope you feel better soon irun4me it’s when you take a run break you realise how much running is for mental as much as physical health. I miss the buzz!

WaitingforToto · 21/02/2020 09:39

Morning all, hope you are all good. Had a busy couple of weeks so fell off the thread but I'm adding my last couple of runs now. Felt good on a 7.3 miler this morning and I might try to get back into double figures at the weekend if I have time Smile
