Still going. Day 28 of RED January, only 3 days left. And achieved my target of 100 miles.
Definitely no snow here but I did glimpse some sunshine very briefly. And it’s windy again which wasn’t fun

With all the exciting snow talk I forgot the mileage

Well done @IRun4Me nearly there with RED Jan. I can’t wait for Saturday as I can have a rest day!

No snow here.

Hard intervals session tonight

So jealous of the snow. I’m going for a run with a friend tomorrow. Not run with a friend before, she’s an experienced runner, has done 2 marathons, I’ve warned her I’m not remotely anywhere near her standard but she seems to want to run with me nevertheless.

Strandliv · 29/01/2020 17:56

It was harder with a friend, you don’t want to show any struggle or pain, good though, lovely sunny run.

PaddingtonPaddington · 29/01/2020 21:50

Well done @Strandliv sometimes harder with a friend but sometimes great and chatty and you don’t notice the miles ticking away.

Intervals again tonight but took it easy. Was hard to drag myself out tonight but only 2 more days to go now...

I like the joint mileage idea
I extended my run again today, it was cold and windy but sunny too

Hi everyone, I'm new to this thread. I've been running on and off for 5 years, I've done a few half marathons and 3 full marathons but I am definitely not what you would call an 'experienced runner'. I never seem to get any faster Grin but I do it because it really helps my mental health and I love the sense of achievement I get from it.

I am training for a half marathon in March, before January I hadn't run for about 3 months so I am just trying to build it back up, seems to be going OK so far. I tried RED January last year but I ended up with a knee injury so I've avoided it this year, I seem to do better when I stick with having rest days.

Relatively low mileage this month, just realised I've done 26.3 miles in January so I've done a marathon in a month haha. How is everyone else doing? Is anyone else training for any events/races or anything like that?

emummy · 30/01/2020 15:03

Welcome chocolateandpinkgin! Hope your training goes well. I am training for a 10 mile race in March and a half in April.

IRun4Me · 30/01/2020 17:09

Welcome Chocolate Sounds like you run for the same reasons as me. I’m doing RED January again (1 day to go Paddington ) but I’ve got a sore back at the moment, long standing problem so just doing short gentle runs for a few days.
I’ve got a half in March then an event in May where you have to run as far as you can before being caught by a chaser car.

Nice evening run with a fellow student tonight, very very windy! Good pace though & now we feel deserving of a big dinner!
Going home tomorrow, can’t wait!

Hi All,

Firstly good job on all the running over the last 4 months everyone.
I had to have an enforced break due to a bout of reactive arthritis in October. I can tell you it wasn't great, but a course of steroids bought it under control but I had to take it really easy for a couple of months. I got to a point just before Christmas that I felt I could run so I've been doing some running in January nothing more than 5-6 k at an easy pace. I did a track session this week and I'm feeling ok.
I'd already entered a marathon, a 50k and a 50 mile Ultra for later in the year so fingers crossed I can manage the training.
So I can add 38 miles to the total

Welcome @chocolateandpinkgin

Welcome back from injury @Alex3101 I’ve also got a marathon and a 50K this year lined up.

Only 1 more day of RED Jan @IRun4Me!

Chatty run with a friend tonight, surprisingly mild out.

Last day of RED January for some of you! Well done. You are all awesome. I’m going to give it a go next year. :)

Strandliv · 31/01/2020 07:11

Just seen @Alex3101 ‘s post... blimey you’re amazing a marathon, 50k and 50 miles! Good luck with your training.

TriSkiRun99 · 31/01/2020 09:30

Feeling abit glum as not run since my aborted long run on Monday as calf pain niggling me and with a HM next weekend I’m really hoping some rest will sort it out. Plus have sports massage Monday and the lady I see is brill. Didn’t quite appreciate how much running really helps my mood until you can’t go (plus watching DH go out 3xmorn in a row for 7m before work felt very envious) Hohum will be glad to see the back of grey Jan!!

Well done all the REDders, I’ve managed some form of exercise everyday which was my main goal.

WaitingforToto · 31/01/2020 16:21

Hi all, I'm still at struggling with motivation and my total lack of routine at the moment but I'm hanging on in there.

IRun4Me · 31/01/2020 17:52

Welcome back Alex I’m very impressed by your plans. I’m hoping I can keep my motivation up Toto sometimes it is so hard isn’t it.
RED January completed. Feeling quite chuffed with myself.

@IRun4Me well done on completing RED Jan.

I’m done too and finished with a half marathon on tired legs but knowing I don’t have to run tomorrow spurring me on. 160miles this month so pretty chuffed with that. Straight into marathon training plan but at least it’s only 4 runs a week plus core strength.

IRun4Me · 01/02/2020 08:15

Well done Paddington that’s some impressive mileage.
I’ve decided not to go out today but to rest my back. But I do feel twitchy, like I should be out there!

TriSkiRun99 · 01/02/2020 08:19

Wow paddington that’s a lot of miles well done. I didn’t even get that in Kms alas I’ve had to back right off this week so Jan was 110km in total but still a good one for me. I’ve no idea at the moment if I can physically get to the level of miles my plan suggests to build to May marathon 😩I’m currently icing my calf muscle so I can walk/run ParkRun with my youngest DD as we are doing a family one this morning.

emummy · 01/02/2020 11:52

Well done REDers! Great work all. Tri I hope your calf recovers soon. Welcome back Alex, good luck with the training.
Intervals for me this morning, first for a while, felt great. Lovely to be back home again. Then volunteered at Parkrun and ate a very large piece of cake. All in all a good day!

Alex3101 · 01/02/2020 13:13

Parkrun for me this morning with a run there and back. Still taking it easy so went straight there rather than adding a loop on.

TriSkiRun99 · 01/02/2020 16:09

Had a fun family ParkRun as DD met a friend so talked nonstop all way round forgetting that she was running and didn’t moan until the 4.5k mark. Eldest DD who never runs cut another minute off her PB as she ran with DH, she’s down to 28min now. She could be faster if she actually did any running other than one ParkRun a month, but she much prefers to swim a lot. My calf coped with the slower pace ok.

Strandliv · 02/02/2020 08:51

So still don’t know the rules, but I’m guessing we restart the counter every month?
Did park run again yesterday! So muddy. Need more appropriate running shoes.
