Anybody else in London ballot?

It's the first time I've entered. I didn't think I'd be bothered but now we're approaching d day (week after next I'm guessing?) Ive become obsessed and am writing imaginary training plans

When I entered I thought that if I got a spot, I'd defer it to give myself a year to put extra miles in my legs. But now I don't care about the extra miles...!!

Might look for other spring marathons.... K own I couldn't commit to fundraising for charity place.

Following with interest, DH has applied having not run more than for the bus... I have got everything crossed that he doesn't get in 🙈😂

Someone on run the world Facebook group has posted a screenshot of her realbuzz page with a bib number and she got the in magazine today.

A stupid question about payment.
I paid upfront, but the other members of my family entered the ballot and didn't pay.
Do they still have to pay even if they weren't successful?
and how do they go about paying?

Yes, I’m trying to pay now imstyle - there’s a piece of paper in with the mag giving you instructions and warning you that if you don’t pay you’ll lose your place.

My family members entered thinking they wouldn't have to pay unless they got a place.
It didn't ask for any money up front.
I paid mine up front, but only because I accidentally ended up doing the 'bequeath the entry fee' thing and will get a free sweatshirt.

It's a bit cheeky really, VLM shouldn't enter anyone into the ballot unless they have paid up front.
They should be more clear about it.

My dh is still waiting, although it will be easier ifhe doesn't get in. Fitting training for one of us around 2 young kids will be hard enough.

If unsuccessful you don't have to pay.

You can pay up front if you want - you get the free branded t shirt / running jacket but you also get entered into another ballot so it ups your chances of getting in by a smidgen

I donated my fee, and thats how I got my place. I didn't win the main ballot, but got entered into a draw for those who had donated the fee to charity, where they selected 1000 people

If I don’t have a bib number on realbuzz does it mean I’m unsuccessful?!

No magazine today and no bib number if I do the link above, so I'm guessing it's another no for me.

I'm not that bothered (well maybe I am) as I think I need a full year of non injured running behind me before I do a marathon.

No need to pay unless you get a place. I did the first time I entered because I didn’t find the process clear either.

I didn’t donate my fee this year though.

I don't think I'll wear the sweatshirt when it comes (I think it was a sweatshirt)
In hindsight it seems a bit naff to wear something that you haven't even taken part in

Realbuzz says no for me, to be expected. Have to say seeing a 7th no is disappointing but not as awful as those who haven’t got in and have been trying longer. I’ve applied to one charity that is very close to my heart after losing a relative this year. If I can’t run for them then it’s not meant to be

The Postman still hasn't been.
It's like waiting for exam results.

I got a running jacket - it was white and enormous (geared towards men of course, rolls eyes) and made a loud rustling noise. I did wear it a couple of times for early morning runs but stopped wearing it because the rustling sounded like an animal feed bag being shaken. I live in a rural area, lots of sheep - when they heard the rustle of me running along one or two would start bleating cos they thought I was food. then they'd all start running towards the road making a right bloody racket. So I went back to wearing my nice running jacket that actually fitted and didn't rustle....

Sheepy, as well as rustling clothes, I find the sloshing of the water bottle annoying as well.
Doesn't take much to annoy and distract me.

I can't remember what I ordered or even what colour it was.
Maybe it's just as well I didn't get in. I would probably be the first person in the history of TLM to get lost and end up going the wrong way!

I had a nosey on the RW forums and it seems that some runners with places don't have bib numbers on their buzzfeed page. One idea was that VLM took the bib numbers down to stop people checking!
I don't think anyone knows for certain until they are contacted directly.

But last year I wasn't contacted at all - no email, no magasine - and had to wait a fortnight to spend a morning on the phone only to be told No! I swore then I never apply again. But of course I did.
