Anybody else in London ballot?

It's the first time I've entered. I didn't think I'd be bothered but now we're approaching d day (week after next I'm guessing?) Ive become obsessed and am writing imaginary training plans Blush

When I entered I thought that if I got a spot, I'd defer it to give myself a year to put extra miles in my legs. But now I don't care about the extra miles...!!

Might look for other spring marathons.... K own I couldn't commit to fundraising for charity place.

Can guarantee Windermere has brilliant organisation. Never ran out of water, or support, on route. Next year will be my 10th trip around the lake. Generous 6.5 hour cut off. However do train for hills.

RunningOutOfCharge · 01/10/2017 13:57

Could be tomorrow!!!!

It’s mainly by email rather than magazine I think

Notonthestairs · 01/10/2017 14:17

Loving the idea of Mumsnet on tour in the the Lake District!
I only have two hills to train in my area so I'd have to do a lot of loops. I'll ponder. Grin

timshortfforthalia · 01/10/2017 14:53

I live on top of quite a big hill, so I can't avoid the vert. However, a big climb you know is very different to constant undulations that you don't.

I think with training I could just about handle windermere hills physically, but I would struggle mentally. I'm really up for it though, and am glad to hear from ramblings that it's worth the trip.

Also, it's a month later than London. A bit of slack in the schedule.

If you’re all planning a road trip......there’s a lovely marathon on in Western Australia.....same weekend as London....coastal and very scenic.....

SocksRock · 01/10/2017 16:25

I'm in the ballot. I entered it in a fit of stupidity as I got a parkrun PB just as the ballot opened and was under the impression I was fit or some such shit like that.

I'm bricking it in case I get a place and I actually have to run the bastard thing. However, I will be able to fundraise for my preferred charity (Woolly Hugs) so not totally horrendous.

I did the Blenheim Palace 10k today and got a PB of 1h14, so I have some shit load of work to do to get round a marathon...

peppatax · 01/10/2017 16:36

Another one waiting to hear this week 🤞🏼

First ballot entry and not holding out much hope but first opportunity to enter as on maternity leave so time to train!

Imstyledilemma · 01/10/2017 16:45

Socksrocks, sounds like you had a mad moment, like me!

At least you've done a 10k! which is more than I've done Blush

SocksRock · 01/10/2017 21:19

It was a totally mad moment. But hey. Life is for living, amiright?

Ha ha ha ha ha

I might survive marathon training and the actually run...

Imstyledilemma · 01/10/2017 23:18

I wonder if we'll find out tomorrow.

TuftedLadyGrotto · 01/10/2017 23:26

I'm in the ballot, third time. I might have to defer though as I had surgery 4 weeks ago and I'm not allowed to even think about starting running again until 12 weeks post op.

Fingers crossed everyone.

TuftedLadyGrotto · 01/10/2017 23:30

My realbuzz says unsuccessful. The 'you could still be running' is asking you to sign up to run for a charity. I just can't guarantee to raise the £2k needed for that.

SteamingPistons · 02/10/2017 08:24

Where are you seeing that TuftedLady?

TuftedLadyGrotto · 02/10/2017 09:06

Went to a real buzz email and clicked on unsubscribe. Then it gives you a list of what you are due to receive.

welshweasel · 02/10/2017 09:25

I've been unsuccessful again, although I ran it in 2013 via the ballot so can't complain. So I need a spring marathon to enter. UK based, preferably a similar time to London, not too hilly! Don't mind size of field, not keen on Brighton due to previous poor reviews. Any thoughts?

Currently struggling to get off sofa after breaking myself in the Cardiff half yesterday so clearly an excellent time to be entering a marathon!!

Imstyledilemma · 02/10/2017 09:38

I haven't had an email yet.
Does that mean I'm still in with a chance? Could it be in the post?
I gave them my normal email address.

This is the first time I've applied so I'm not sure of what usually happens.

MyBlackCat · 02/10/2017 09:41

According to Facebook if you log into your real buzz account if you are in you are allocated a bib number - sadly I don't have one so looks like another rejection email coming my way Sad

MyBlackCat · 02/10/2017 09:42

Under ballot you would have a bib number

Anybody else in London ballot?
Imstyledilemma · 02/10/2017 09:42

welshweasel, I'm looking to do a half marathon, round about February.
A lot that I've looked at only have about 300 runners.
I want something that has loads, so that it doesn't look so bad if I'm slow.
(can't hide in the crowd when there's only 200 or 300 runners)

I want something like The Great North Run. Something that doesn't take itself too seriously and sounds like fun, but will test me at the same time.

Imstyledilemma · 02/10/2017 09:45

I don't have a real buzz account what even is that Confused

TuftedLadyGrotto · 02/10/2017 09:54

You do have a real buzz accident you've entered the ballot.

Try the unsubscribe thing above..

The emails and magazines go out over a number of days.

MyBlackCat · 02/10/2017 09:55

hub.realbuzzregistrations.com

I had to reset my password but just use your regular email address

TuftedLadyGrotto · 02/10/2017 09:56

Wah, autocorrect! I searched my email account (including trash) for real buzz then clicked on unsubscribe.

CMOTDibbler · 02/10/2017 10:03

I'm waiting, as is DH. If DH gets in, he is determined to do the London Classics in one year - LM, Ride London 100, 2 miles at Swim Serpentine.

For anyone looking for alternatives, I did Manchester marathon in 2016 and it was brilliant. Not hilly, loads of support, only one 'there and back' on the same road section

sheepysheep · 02/10/2017 10:04

styled if you go to

hub.realbuzzregistrations.com

You can log on and see the status of your entries. Mine looks the same as blackcat - no bib number. So it sounds like I'm not in. However, I also entered the ballot for ride london and that's showing a bib number!! So does that mean I have a place? They don't officially announce until February so I'm worried I'm getting prematurely excited...
