Anybody else in London ballot?

It's the first time I've entered. I didn't think I'd be bothered but now we're approaching d day (week after next I'm guessing?) Ive become obsessed and am writing imaginary training plans

When I entered I thought that if I got a spot, I'd defer it to give myself a year to put extra miles in my legs. But now I don't care about the extra miles...!!

Might look for other spring marathons.... K own I couldn't commit to fundraising for charity place.

DH has just had his rejection email too.

Instyle I have only seen one person say they received a yes by post today. Everyone else seems to be getting a no email.

Just had a look at my realbuzz login thingy and still hasn't changed to having a bib number.

Annoyingly I can't get online until tomorrow to confirm / accept / pay for my place. But that's made me wonder if all emails will be out by today so then the server is free to cope with logins tomorrow?

No idea how it all works...

Next year could be different as New Balance takes over as the sponsors so maybe they will do it differently?

I tried to pay on Monday Sandunes and the system doesn’t open until tomorrow so don’t worry

DH just got his rejection email, he's moving on to charity places now...
This is the first year he's applied and I'm amazed at the process for letting people know if they have a place or not - 2 kinds of magazine, letters, emails... it's a bit bonkers!
I work in marketing and I can assure you that an e-mailshot of 300,000 is not a big deal at all and wouldn't crash a server if staggered over a few hours (think how many emails a retailer like Tesco will send out in one go).
I'm quite surprised as the rest of it all seems very well organised.

Rejection email just arrived here too. I'm slightly relieved tbh.

Though there's already talk of the rejects in my running group applying en masse to Manchester

We have a ballot at my running club for ballot rejectees too. We get 2 VLM places because of the size of the club.

We do also Tufted. I'm not sure if I'll put my name in though. There's people who've applied many times who really really want to do it, and I'm a bit half hearted about it.

Imstyledilemma I have a similar theory. I think the only people who haven't heard yet are those who didn't get in but did bequest. My lovely free jacket and magazine is obviously lost with royal mail somewhere, and we'd be last to be emailed (if we even get one?) as they assume we already know as have received the mag + free gift.

The suspense is KILLING ME! Day 3 - postie been and gone and nothing. DH got his rejection on Monday.

No emails either although simply by writing this post, I am sure to jinx myself and find the reject email hitting my inbox!

I hate the way the ballot works but I kind of understand why they do it this way...generates loads of publicity for them, and for those who DO get it, it makes it that much more special maybe? Urgh!! This is the first year (of NINE!) that I haven't found out my results on day 1 (always been rejection). Am on the EDGE!

I’ve had my rejection email, I knew it was coming but it was still disappointing to see. Our club get 2 spots. Stupidly they change the points system mid season, so I’ve gone from having enough points to just shy of enough so I can’t try that route.

I’ve not heard from my charity application yet, but they did say it would be next week anyway. If it’s a no from them then it just wasn’t meant to be.

I was slightly tempted by day 1 of Rtts but I don’t think my coaches would think I’m ready for it yet and therefore wouldn’t get their support, so back to picking Half Marathons (thinking Plymouth, Torbay and Cardiff).

I bequeathed my entry and got my no via post on Monday. Good luck to all those still waiting

Our running club do names in a hat of those who want to. You must show proof that you entered the ballot and were rejected.

I've decided to sign up for the inaugural newport marathon instead!! It's being organised by the same people that run the Cardiff half so should be a well organised event, even if the scenery might be lacking! It will be cheaper than London, no hotel required and my family can probably be persuaded to come and spectate!
