Poppy - I love your dinner ideas - that sounds really fun and a great way to get away from non stop pasta etc.

Eccentric upper is hideous for me too. My arms are so scrawny and pathetic and I find that work out really hurts both at the time and the next day.

Will try chisel agility. Couldn't face it last night as my legs and bum were still sore from eccentric lower 2 days ago! Did 21df extreme power and strength. Was a good combo of abs and plyo. There was a great moment when Autumn demonstrated the position for gorilla crawls by leaning into the camera and giving a full cleavage shot. I guess that is for her male fans Grin

Rest day today. And maybe some chocolate.....

yumyumpoppycat · 16/04/2017 20:08

I do worry she's not getting enough support from her sports bra Wink

The kids like the dinner thing at first they were really keen about finding out about the local animals and drawing flags etc but surprisingly enough that has stopped now!

P90x3 Pilates today which seemed to feature tony Hs wife, I thought he was a little flirty with the yoga instructor though Shock

Reastie · 17/04/2017 15:12

I thought I had the best idea for a workout ever this morning. I wanted a run but had dd with me so I took her to a playground on the way back from errands and planned to run around the field surrounding the playground (could see her all the time. I could get a workout, she could play on the equipment). Dd loves playgrounds and usually we have to drag her away..... after 6 short minutes she stops me to say she needs th loo. Don't worry, I say, go in the corner in the long grass I say. She whispers she needs a poo . With no public loos in the area I drive home whilst dd says helpful things like 'well, I didn't want to play for long today anyway'. Great! Typical!

Hope you all haven't eaten too much chocolate. None consumed here as still sug free.

Can anyone recommend a standing up abs DVD? I just can't do any of the lying down stuff with my shoulder but would like someone to follow with a vairety of standing moves.

Purpleraindeer · 18/04/2017 07:11

What?! Pilates x has Tony hortons wife in it? Somehow I just assumed he was a perennial single man just looking for the right woman!

What about dynamic core from t25 reastie? It eventually does end up with lying down ab work but I think there is quite a bit of standing stuff first.

Went for a run yesterday as too difficult to do a DVD. We're away for a few days somewhere v hilly. Was a tough 25mins. Not stood up yet but I'm expecting to be super stiff too.

yumyumpoppycat · 18/04/2017 09:06

He says 'she's mine hands off fella's' re Shawna. ( Tony is not a feminist!) He does give off the single man thing though doesn't he. Guess she is used to his flirty personality.

Reastie hip hop abs is an option?

Dp informed me this weekend that I have to be careful for the neighbours about working out on weekend mornings as he can hear me in the loft 2 floors away Shock DS then did a demo by jumping really hard on the floor and reminded me that I weigh a lot more than him Shock . This was quite off putting and I was looking at plyo mats and considering the gym but had a brain wave and remembered we have an old ikea rug we are not usin; used it yesterday for Chisel Agility and that seems to make a difference for noise. Only slight problem is that it reduces my workout space and also how will I clean it?

Purple hope you are not too sore - well done on hill run.

yumyumpoppycat · 18/04/2017 09:09

PS Reastie on bright side at least your dd kept poo in (had a horrific incident at park when one of my dds was little!). Lovely and sunny here maybe park will work today for you?

Purpleraindeer · 19/04/2017 21:20

I was surprised at how sore I was after my run. I could still feel it today 2 days later and my ankles and knees were sore too! I can't believe I used to go running 5x per week.

Back on p90x3 today with triometrics. I found all the balance moves hard on my still tired post run legs.

I had the same experience last year on hols poppy. I did max30 every day and at the end of the week the people downstairs told us they woke up every morning to thumping from my tuck jumps Blush. It was a massive thick stone floor so it didn't even occur to me that the noise would travel through.

yumyumpoppycat · 19/04/2017 23:01

well done on exercising on holiday Purple....trying to plan a summer holiday has been enough of an excuse to stop me exercising. Hope the aches and pains wear off quickly,

Purpleraindeer · 20/04/2017 21:10

Went to physio today as my sore back/bum cheek was getting worse. Was v annoying. Yes, I get that I need to stretch and rest it a bit but no need to roll your eyes so much when I say I don't want to skip work outs or that using a foam roller hurts. She was ever so smug and superior Angry anyway - came away with some stretches so let's hope it gets better.

Still did a workout tonight - but it was an upper body one so technically resting a bit? Blush

yumyumpoppycat · 20/04/2017 23:54

Purple what does the physio think has caused it - was it the impact from running? She sounds awful though - you have hurt yourself keeping fit and healthy - what is there for her to be snooty about? Hope you are feeling better tomorrow Flowers

Goldfishjane · 21/04/2017 00:02

OP I don't know your history but if you look up "Jessica Smith Standing Abs" on YouTube you will find a few that might suit.

Reastie · 21/04/2017 06:46

Thank you gold, will do that in a min.

Purple I hope the stretches help. My knee issue stems from my glute so I wonder if we have the same exercises to do to sort it out?!

I also went to the physio yesterday. My aim is to be back on dvds for the summer holidays when I won't be able to go for runs/cycles with dd around. She's asked me to list which exercises I'd like to do so she can build me up and ease me in. I'm crossing fingers maybe by September I might be getting closer to being back to normal. I'm trying to think of my ultimate what I'd do if I could do anything and I've decided it would be pump 2-3 times a week, a 10k run, a cardio DVD (maybe combat), and a hiit workout. Oh, and abs workouts, maybe to do after the cardio type exercises as pump has abs already

Yumy I looked into a Plyo mat a while ago but in the hopes it made jumps gentler in my knees, let me know if you get one and whether it is gentler.

Plodding along here still, two runs and a cycle and a mini sitting room workout with some drills I can do repeated for a minute each is all I've managed this week. I feel so weak compared to when I did more weights :(

I'm thinking about doing a spin class as cycling isn't that bad on my knee (as long as I avoid huge hills). Has anyone done one? How impossible is it? I don't know why but I'm very nervous about spin for some reason and my gym has a note saying you need to see a gym instructor before doing a spin class to learn technique Confused

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 21/04/2017 08:22

Reastie I have done spin only once for a reason ;) I think its good that you have a one to one session first as otherwise it is a distraction for the teacher helping with bike etc and you presumably get help to find right levels etc. I am basing this on having leapt straight into a hardcore class not even riding a bike though.

Did lower today. My squats are still so rubbish I feel like my range of motion is really poor.

Purpleraindeer · 22/04/2017 18:36

Reastie your physio sounds lovely and supportive.

Re spin - I did it a few times. I think it's normal to have some sort of induction first - they need to explain how to adjust the seat height and how to adjust the gears. That will be really important for you as if the seat is too low it's terrible for your knees. I loved spin - it was hard work tho. My best advice is to go easy on the gears in the first class. I was exhausted after 10mins!

MMX today. I think I'm getting better at it as this time my abs felt tired from all the punching. I doubt I'd actually scare anyone in a fight tho!

Have a good evening all Smile

Purpleraindeer · 22/04/2017 19:25

Poppy - when you do squats are you getting your weight into your heels - it helps balance and makes it easier to go down lower for me anyway. Sorry if that's teaching grandmothers to suck eggs! Blush

Reastie · 22/04/2017 20:52

Yumy you see this is my worry with spin!

I remember when I did combat DVD and thinking when I did it at home I looked like the instructors; all hard and punchy and then did the DVD on holiday where there was a mirror next to the TV and I looked ridiculous

Purple my bike the seat is too low and I've finally got dh to take it up ready for my cycle tomorrow. I hope he hasn't done it too high though!

Did run today and got next time post knee injury - have sped up from what was taking me 28 minutes or so to 24 minutes, but still not as fast as pre knee injury. Progress of sorts though.

Reastie · 22/04/2017 20:53

I wonder where the phrase teaching your grandmother to suck eggs comes from .

Goldfishjane I have a stand up abs workout planned for Tuesday based on your recommendation, thanks for that.

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 22/04/2017 20:54

Purple I think its my knees they are quite clunky, and I am quite inflexible - I'm not really sure, will try and focus on putting weight in my heels more. I am not sporty naturally though so maybe that's why I find it all hard! How are your legs today, have the physio exercises helped?

Did warrior today which I quite like.

Have a great weekend all!

yumyumpoppycat · 22/04/2017 20:58

Grin reastie I fear that is pretty spot on for me when I do MMX!

Sounds like you are making really great progress with running and things are looking up for you on exercise Wine Wine

yumyumpoppycat · 23/04/2017 23:24

Upper eccentric again today and I did a bit better than last time so feeling happy!

Oh btw Reastie I am getting on quite well with cheap rug for now but its not that thick so not sure if it reduces impact much. I worry about my knees too so might get a plyo mat at some point, but storage space and cost are putting me off for now. Our floor is laminate on wooden floor boards so think its hopefully got a little give.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Purpleraindeer · 24/04/2017 07:49

Poppy we were work out twins yesterday! Was better for me too - 3rd time doing it and seems to be getting better. Arms still jelly at the end though.

Rest day today.

Thought my legs/back/bum injury was getting better but it's sore again today. Boo. Physio suggested sitting on a tennis ball. It is sooooo painful that it must be doing something!

Have a good day

yumyumpoppycat · 24/04/2017 10:15

Purple I am going to try and do upper and possibly lower eccentric once a week and then just slot in other workouts. Did yoga today, does anyone else find their foot slips down to their knee for tree pose?

I am intrigued by sitting on a tennis ball - do you roll it around - fingers crossed it works.

Reastie · 24/04/2017 12:32

Purple I had to lean on the wall with a tennis ball on my shoulder as a physio thing in the past! These physios must like their tennis balls! I guess it's working in the same way as a foam roller would?

Quick run this morning. I'm still feeling like I'm not on a decent fitness and miss feeling spent and shaky at the end of a weights class.

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 24/04/2017 17:58

It's probably just a different type of fitness reastie. I went for a quick run last week and came back half dead and was stiff for 2 days - so you're definitely fitter than me on that score!

Re tennis ball - I just sit on it and roll it around until I find the most painful spot then hold that position as long as I can. It's agonising and I've not even been able to get my full weight on it. I used to have a foam roller but chucked it as it was so painful I didn't use it. Physio suggested that too and then looked scornful when I said it was painful! I'm just plugging away doing my stretches and tennis ball whenever I can and hoping it eases. No way am I going back to the unhelpful physio!

Reastie · 24/04/2017 18:01

Supposedly if it hurts then you need to do it more!
