I hope you find me

Oh and yes I have the same problem with tree pose poppy. I presume when you get stronger it's easier to hold your foot higher? Given how rubbish I am at it I doubt I will ever experience that!

Purpleraindeer · 24/04/2017 18:04

You sound just like my physio reastie! I know that's true but i think I'd need a dose of morphine before using that foam roller would be bearable

Reastie · 24/04/2017 19:00

Meant to say I used to get that a bit yumy, it's better if I do it bare feeted. I bought some yoga socks which have 'sticky bottoms' as dd would say to help this though as my issue with yoga is that things like downward dog my feet and hands slip. I really need to get some yoga gloves too but I'm still banned from yoga with injuries.

Purple sometimes on the foam roller I put barely no weight on an area and it kills! It kind of feels like it's doing good though

Purple if you find your foot slips in tree pose I find that very reassuring - I always imagine everyone else is nailing everything. Reastie I might keep an eye out for cheap yoga socks , it really bothers me when my hands and feet slip.

Did incinerator this morning which was a bit of a mistake as it is quite upperbodyish again.

Purpleraindeer · 25/04/2017 20:40

Hope you can move your arms tomorrow poppy!
Did triometrics. Sigh. Was just a tough workout today. Kept having to stop and was wobbling like mad on the balance ones. I felt really tired. I guess sometimes bad workouts happen.

Reastie · 26/04/2017 06:53

Did a stand up abs workout yesterday on YouTube. Good to have different abs moves but (dare I say it given my abs are rubbish) I didn't find it hard enough (perhaps in part because I had to modify some moves because my arm won't stretch where my dodgy shoulder is). I was hoping this morning I'd ache as if I'd worked more than I thought but alas no. So still in the hunt for a stand up abs workout. I liked the balance moves in the workout though.

Hoping for a swim today and was going to have a rest day tomorrow but since I don't think I worked hard enough yesterday I'm wondering about a bonus workout but not sure what to do as essentially it's running or cycling ATM and I don't want to overdo either with such questionable knees. Maybe I'll try another stand up abs something.

Yumy hope you don't feel that too much today!

Purple bad workouts definitely sometimes happen but hopefully today you'll nail it.

I think the basic problem is that stand up abs work outs aren't that hard unless you add the plyo bit - tuck jumps etc. Could you do the v short cardio abs workout from insanity reastie - that has a standup bit at the start but it does have jumping. Can't remember what moves you have to avoid?

Did eccentric lower last night. I definitely need some heavier weights for some of the moves. I've figured out that it aggravates my back pain though - I think it's the one legged moves -pistol squats particularly. Back was a lot better and now it's sore again. I guess that's good though as now I know what the problem is and I know that the regular stretching sorts it.

Reastie · 27/04/2017 12:36

Turns out my lower back around the sides ache from the stand up abs, so either I was working my back core or I was doing it wrong! This morning I did hip hop abs workout. It was absolutely hilarious: Shaun t is so camp ("hey... do you want me?") Grin. 20 minute swim yesterday, not setting the world on fire but at least keeping regular activity. Purple, unfortunately I can't do any jumps, I specifically asked physio and she said I could but if I do my knee is unlikely to get better and could likely get worse.

Purple do you log your repetitions and weights? I really like doing that with the p90 series and can really see the development in heaviness of weights.

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 27/04/2017 17:57

Yes Shaun T is totally different in hiphop abs Reastie Grin

I didn't ache too much at all so maybe I need to work a lot a bit harder, I don't want to be straining etc and hurting my back though.

Purple I HATE pistol squats with a passion...I use the lowest weight I have for those. I actually think they might be very easy to get wrong and cause an injury,

MMX today which is one of my favourites, I am pants at the back kicks though.

Will prob do lower tomorrow but possibly a chisel one with a step for variety.

Purpleraindeer · 28/04/2017 06:57

No I never log weights or reps reastie. Blush i now realise that's a mistake. am thinking about getting some heavier weights so I guess that's progress though?

I looked online for pistol squats. Apparently they're a big thing - it's a big milestone when you can do them - like pull ups. I don't think I'll ever be in that place but I'd like to be.... here is the how to guide in case you're interested poppy

www.bodybuilding.com/fun/pistol-perfect-one-legged-squats-and-beyond.html

Rest day today. Did incinerator last night. Managed to use my 8kg weights on the arm ones when lying down and wasn't afraid I was going to smash myself in the face so I guess I'm getting stronger Smile

yumyumpoppycat · 28/04/2017 10:26

Well done Purple on 8kg! Talking of weights I am getting on well with power blocks but it looks like the model I got at an ok price are no longer being sold. Having said that individual weights are quicker to use and feel more secure for things when they are suspended above your head so I use a mix, I also haven't needed to go that heavy so they are slightly wasted on me.

Thanks for video link - plyo pistol squat Shock.

yumyumpoppycat · 28/04/2017 10:29

Nearly forgot I did eccentric lower, I did cues and music and it wasn't what I was expecting - it was all silent with quiet music and Tony voice over just saying the name of the move, wouldn't do it again I don't think. PS are the complex bonus workouts on the secret site?

PPS I think there is a p90x3 app for recording stats - I might see if I can find it.

Reastie · 28/04/2017 14:59

Shock plyo pistol squats!!! I hate that move too.

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 29/04/2017 09:06

All the p90x3 work outs have come off the secret site Sad

I am strangely tempted to have a pistol squat focus for a while just to see if it's possible. I doubt I'll be doing a plyo one though.

Will be MMX later today.

disappointed101 · 29/04/2017 15:22

GUYS....Shaun T is doing an event in London on July 1st. I have booked a ticket. I am so excited! I literally have nothing else to say!

Purple that sucks about the x3 workouts. Maybe it is temporary? (hopeful) I bought x3 from the UK beachbody shop website for quite cheap a few months ago. Worth checking amazon too every now and again for deals?

yumyumpoppycat · 29/04/2017 17:15

Dissapointed wow!!!! I will check that out. PS how is bodybeast?

I did p90x3 triometrics - like it, hard but not totally impossible.

yumyumpoppycat · 29/04/2017 17:17

...obviously I was wobbling and putting my foot down but still ;)

Reastie · 29/04/2017 19:35

So excited by the Shaun t London thing. Was going to go but i know I will have to modify so much that the workout wouldn't be worth it as I'd feel so frustrated. I'll live in hope he comes back again next year and do it then. Looks like a really strange venue though. I'm sure last year he did a bigger venue like the excel and this looks more like a local gym.

I got p90x3 on offer from Amazon ages ago, it was half price or something so keep an eye out purple.

Yummy, I am really liking Bodybeast. Am throwing the odd run in there too. The thi I found hard is in the first and second phase, you eat a lot of carbs to build muscle, then go back to cutting carbs and increasing protein in the third phase to cut. I was feeling "fluffy" as they call it and made the fatal error of getting on the scale. I had put on like 5 or 6 lbs in about 4 weeks and it freaked me out. So I have adjusted my diet this week and feel a lot more me. Now with this Shaun T thing, I feel motivated to keep my eating on track. Aww Reastie, I bet the will be all levels of fitness there, there always is. Apparantly it is the same venue as last time he was in London

yumyumpoppycat · 30/04/2017 17:42

Dissapointed I will prob start BB soon but I am fluffy enough so might give that diet plan a miss Grin glad you're enjoying it.

Hope everyones having a good weekend

disappointed101 · 30/04/2017 20:12

yummy I think you can adjust the nutriton accordingly. You could follow the 21 day fix eating plan? I know there is a meal plan for weightloss I think. Sure I have seen it somewhere.
Re pistol squats. I remember a while ago that Jillian did a video on how to start them and improve them using different techniques. I bloody hate them! I can't get very low.
Rest day today and I'm going for a hike tomorrow. Can't wait!

Purpleraindeer · 01/05/2017 19:13

Hope the hike was fun disappointed. I'm so jealous of you seeing Shaun t live. We're on hols that week. I told DH and he thought it was hilarious that I wanted to go to see someone who does fitness DVDs. He doesn't understand

Am glad body beast is going well. I looked at my biceps and they're definitely more pronounced since I started p90x3 (in a good way). I need to really focus on my diet if I want to get the full benefit but I'm not very motivated to do that at the moment. I'm just in the transition week between mth 2 and mth 3 of p90x3. I may try to get strict with my diet for the final month perhaps? I think I need to set a period of time to make it not seem so depressing.

Hope everyone enjoyed their bank hol weekend. I got 3 workouts in Smile so feel virtuous. Back still sore though. I would consider going back to physio but she was so mean last time it's not a tempting prospect.

yumyumpoppycat · 01/05/2017 22:13

Purple could you see a different physio? Well done on 3 workouts with a sore back, don't push yourself too far (but this is coming from someone who stops exercising way too easily!!). I was reading a kindle unlimited book on fasting and that recommends taking BCAA supplement before workouts and protein powder after within half an hour. www.muscleandstrength.com/expert-guides/bcaas

Dissapointed good idea about 21 day fix, I haven't done it but think hammer and chisel plans might be an option.

I did p90x3 total synergistics today I just did regular pullups using the assist though.

EleanorAbernathy · 02/05/2017 15:36

Hi it's CONTRAST WEEK for me - yay! I'm a week late because I made the mistake of going to the pub on Easter weekend and totally fell off the wagon to try and cure the resulting 3 day hangover (I must be getting old!)

So I think I'm going to do a double T25 - Speed 2.0 and something else that I haven't decided yet.

I'm still sore from my last shoulder workout - there's a gym at work I can use, but I only realised when I started there weren't any 4kg dumbbells - and I didn't want to wimp out and use 3kg so I braved the fives - I still have DOMS in my delts three days on!

Hop everyone's getting on OK!

EleanorAbernathy · 02/05/2017 18:26

I changed my mind as I didn't want to be faffing round changing DVDs or waiting for Shakeology ads to finish - just did an Insanity instead! I did the first one from month one. I did extra calf stretches so hoping I don't have bad Insanity Calves tomorrow.

Speaking of Shakeology - I've finally found something available in the UK that's similar after trying just about every protein powder! It's this one - there isn't a great choice of flavours but I tend to add cinnamon, ginger and banana anyway, so the vanilla is perfect!
