Urgh I’ve been ill too Sad only a little cold but I’m a terrible moaner when I’m ill so I think a few others have suffered around me too. Missed a workout last night.

Back on it today as feel a lot better. Did isometrix which I always quite enjoy. Have decided to partially do the rest week in p90x3 as I was feeling very tired and sore on Sunday. Will do the yoga one tomorrow. It will probably be like your experience poppy and I’ll be knackered at the end of it.

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 30/01/2018 20:52

Urgh, another ill person here with a cold! Mine’s been coming for a week and just developing into a proper cold. Did body balance yesterday to be gentle and today wanted to do a run but didn’t feel up to it so tried a LM bodystep athletic workout, which was easier than BA but not exactly gentle, especially as my knee is playing up as well. BA class for the morning but I may not make it. Will try for something though even if it’s something super short like TF hiit.

Yumy I have an omron scale just like this one . Would definitely recommend. I’m not sure how spot on it all is but it’s very reliable so as long as you plot the info against your previous info it will show patterns and trends in weight and body fat etc. Dh doesn’t like it because it’s only in lbs not stone or kg and when he wants to weigh heavy parcels for the post office he has to convert the lbs to kg —he’s too lazy so moans— .

Oh, and yumy I find that move hard too, I can’t get my leg straight I have to keep it bent.

Hope we’re all more healthy soon!

Purpleraindeer · 31/01/2018 12:57

Well I just did p90x3 yoga. I can’t do that move either. I have a bent leg and I wobble over. Overall I was a bit horrified by how stiff I am and how uncomfortable the moves are for me - particularly in my back - I’m obviously in dire need of more yoga.

I do find it hard to prioritise it. I’m loathe to move to 6dpw exercise but then again don’t want to drop one of my other more intense workouts for yoga. I’m sure roman will tell me i need to do it as a double day Grin

yumyumpoppycat · 01/02/2018 17:03

Sorry everyone I haven't done a workout; doing work and the house work and work feels like enough of an effort at mo, think I am low on energy and tonight is hectic but will do one tomorrow.

Purple I think yoga probably is worth doing but know exactly what you mean. In my fantasy world I get up early to do yoga before work and then would do HIIT and 2 weights workouts in evenings. Sadly unlikely to happen.

I watched another lifestyle show on tv yest eve instead of doing yoga (on BBCiplayer) about fitness. Not hugely interesting but apparently we should all be trying to do a dance workout as part of our fitness, it is more effective than most other types of exercise (hiit, yoga, weights, running) for cognitive stuff (sorry I wasn't properly concentrating ironically enough!). Oh and running doesn't increase likelihood of knee problems although injuries are a sep issue. 3 x 10 minutes of fast walking may also be better than the famous 10000 steps a day.

yumyumpoppycat · 01/02/2018 17:09

Sorry to clarify my fantasy workout schedule: in the mornings 20 minutes yoga every day - then over the course of a week 2 x HIIT 2 x weights, not a total exercise fanatic who would do 4 workouts in a day! Only problem is I don't actually like yoga, just like the idea of it Confused

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 01/02/2018 18:56

My fantasy workout schedule if I ignored the fact I work and my injuries got better would be

step aerobic class (routine based to work my brain )
BA class
yoga or body balance class
2 x Pump (or alternating occasionally with another type of weights work)
Run
Combat (in alternation with insanity every now and again to mix it up)

But that doesn’t allow a rest day and it would just make me injured. There’s no harm in dreaming though! I could drop the combat and sneak it in place of the run or BA every now and again.

Yumy hope you get your mojo back soon. I skipped BA class yesterday as just not quite up to it with this cold. I did some weights bits at home instead. Rest day today and tomorrow then workout planned for Saturday but taking dd to a competition on Sunday which lasts ALL DAY so will have to miss my Sunday workout :( . I feel like it’s for the greater good though as it’s a martial arts competition and dd has never competed in anything sporty (apart from obligatory sports day) ever and it’s good to encourage her. Just not sure how much enthusiasm I’ll have after five hours (how long they say it could last for to get through everyone)

Purple I like p90x3 s I find it challenging in a good way. I’ve never managed to do it without Modifying! I do remember thinking of it that if you did it having never done yoga before it would be very easy to do it all completely wrong.

Purpleraindeer · 02/02/2018 08:11

I thought your fantasy workout schedule seemed rather hardcore poppy - I wondered if you were secretly an aspiring professional athlete!! Smile

Reastie you have my sympathy re the 5hr karate. The memories of the 3x dress rehearsals and 4hr run through on the day for dds dance show are still with me. No-one tells you about this aspect of parenting!

Have started p90x3 mth 2 with eccentric upper. It hurt. A lot. I think was combo of a new workout and also a cold but it was really difficult and I took a lot of rests. Oh well - at least I’m guaranteed to be better at it next week as I’ve set the bar so low!

Rest day today. Although I know I should be doing yoga Blush

yumyumpoppycat · 02/02/2018 10:58

God yes - I was half relieved when my dd gave up karate. Some of the ballet schools around here are really hardcore in the amount of time dedicated even on a weekly basis so I am glad none of my dc were aspiring ballet dancers. It would be good for mine all to do a sporty club of somekind though - I might have to resign up the older 2 to weekend swimming and take dd2 for a splashabout as she is a swimming lesson refuser!

Good point about step reastie - I did bodystep108 today with that in mind but like purple had to take some rests. I find it hard to keep up with the routine but trying now to focus on not just do random stepping so my brain will get a workout too!

yumyumpoppycat · 02/02/2018 11:00

PS sounds like you need a rest anyway Purple, feel better soon. Was eccentric upper one of the non standard workouts?

Purpleraindeer · 02/02/2018 19:27

Guess what?! Kids were watching telly and so I did the yoga workout. Halo
Let’s hope I’m not as stiff tomorrow as I was after I did it last time

Purpleraindeer · 03/02/2018 17:58

Triometrics today. Ow that is hard work on your quads!

Sorry in my excitement to let everyone know re my yoga Blush I missed Poppy’s question - eccentric upper and lower are part of the normal p90x3. They are the ones where you do the lift quickly and then let the weight come down for a count of 3. Hard work.

Hope everyone had a good day

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 04/02/2018 18:18

Yumy I think I did bodystep 108 last week!

Was booked into a step class tomorrow morning but this afternoon have been feeling like I’m getting a really nasty bug so cancelled it. If I wake up feeling perfect I’ll do a dvd but don’t want to push myself if I’m on the cusp of something bad. Having not been ill for so long it all now comes along at once like buses!

Purple well done on the yoga, always nice to sneak something in.

Did tf hiit 20 this morning as was very short of time as taking dd to her martial arts competition. Good news is she got a silver medal, hurrah —ok there were only 5 people in her level for that part of the competition but it still counts— and even better it finished after only 3 hours for her age group so finished earlier than expected. Good news all round! Was watching the older children/adults who were quite advanced and they were really good!

Did BA I think 97 yesterday which was great fun and worked hard. Got Ba class booked for this Wednesday before work and yoga for after work, here’s hoping I’m healthy enough for both! It’s a last ditch attempt to use my gym more, I love the BA class but I’m not using my membership enough so I’m tempted to quit. I’m going to keep up LMOD for at least another month though as am enjoying it. And whoever asked I’ve now got it sorted on my fire stick which makes it so much easier Thanks for telling me about that.

Hope you’ve all had good week ends.

Theromanempire · 05/02/2018 11:22

Hi! Just realised that this thread had slipped off my Threads I'm On Shock Been really busy but hadn't realised I hadn't posted for so long!

Hope everyone is getting over their bugs quickly!

Been ticking along here - we managed doubles about 4 times last week of various combinations. I feel this is better than trying to find time to exercise 6 days a week which is proving difficult at the moment due to various DC commitments. I sympathise with the 5 hour long events although I think I would swap that with an hour stood by a football pitch in very low temperatures/rain/nowhere to sit or buy coffee Grin

So, 80DO workouts have eventually appeared on the secret site...yay!! Only taken 3 weeks Grin There are the first 14 on there but I think they are all labelled phase 1 so I presume are just repeats of each other but filmed on different days. Most seem to be about an hour long though Hmm There is also one called Cardio Flow which is the only one at 30 minutes but it looks really hard (if anybody knows what the 21DFX Challenge workout is like, it is the same as that) so I think I'll be giving that one a miss. So I think we will just do the workouts as and when rather than in consecutive order.

Secondly, I think I may have 'whooshed' this weekend (that's not rude by the way Grin Blush) Friday, was feeling really pissed off as I felt fat and bloated despite my efforts all month...went out for a meal and some drinks with my friends on Friday night. Saturday, I could not stop weeing and all my clothes suddenly seem much looser Smile Still got a very long way to go though like 4 stone Blush

Theromanempire · 07/02/2018 12:01

So I did 80DO Total Body Core on Monday night - I enjoyed it (DH not so keen Hmm) It was just like an hour long version of Dirty 30 really but with some resistance bands thrown in Grin I did like the fact that it didn't feel overly rushed (as some 30-minute workouts do) and there is an informal feel about the filming aswell. I like!!

Am going to do Cardio Core tonight - there was a version of this on ALO and it seems to be exactly the same format but with different moves.

Hope you are all ok Smile

Purpleraindeer · 07/02/2018 12:35

I love this roman - you can review all the Alo workouts on here and then I’ll cherry pick any which sound good - having automatically discounted any which last longer than 30mins Grin

I had the opposite of a whoosh (a whumph??) and mysteriously put on 3lbs over the weekend. Shock I did overeat. But not to that extent so let’s hope it’s water weight....

Have been busy on p90x3 - mmx last night and eccentric Lower today. My bum and thighs feel almost numb so I predict I’ll be sore tomorrow! I am a lot better at it than when I did it last 6mths ago - I think I have 21dfx to thank for that.

I recommend incinerator for an upper body workout - it’s a weights exercise then a body weight one back to back and repeat. It is very effective. You do need a pull up bar but can modify using bands. I remember you were asking for new upper body workouts so this might be of interest to you roman.

yumyumpoppycat · 07/02/2018 13:58

Hi all, I am so impressed with all the hard work you guys have been doing behind the scenes. I can't bear hour long workouts Roman never mind doubling up as much as you do. I am aiming to have maybe 1 longer workout a week though as I felt like my fitness briefly improved when I was regularly doing doubles in the run up to Christmas.

I remember that workout now Purple it is amazing how much control it takes to do the fast ups and slow downs.

Reastie I am enjoying LMOD too. I did bodystep 106 athletic today. I quite liked it but nearly fell off at one point as it involves things like burpees onto the step Shock

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 07/02/2018 15:43

Thermo Envy of your whooshing, great news though. Glad to see you back here again.

Purple I bet the 3lbs will disappear as quickly as they mysteriously appeared, unless thermo has shifted them from her to you Wink

Yumy falling off the step has nearly happened to me a fair few times! I prefer burpees in the step as I find it easier on my shoulder.

Well, all this talk of doubling up so I thought I’d join the double party and did BA class at gym this morning and just done a long yoga class at the gym this afternoon, I feel like I’ve spent most of the day there! I’m getting close to giving up membership so I’m trying to see how much I can use it and if it’s worth keeping or not. My physio will tell me off tomorrow when I see her I’m sure! Needed to double up as will be busy tomorrow baking for dds birthday party at the week end.

Theromanempire · 07/02/2018 16:48

Purple there is only one 80DO workout in Phase 1 that is 30 minutes or less (apart from the stretching one which doesn't count Grin) so you will struggle! Cardio Core is about 37 minutes so it isn't that much longer? I'll let you know what it is like after I have done it tonight. Thanks for the tip about the upper workout - I will take a look. Now I have resistance bands, I could do the pull-up stuff. I would then need to persuade DH as he hates anything different (I had to really persuade him to do any of Autumn's workouts last year and now he loves them nothing to do with Autumn's chest I am sure Hmm)

Yum I have decided that doubles or long workouts are a better option time and commitment wise but no idea if they are actually better for fitness?

Quick question about doing burpees on a step - does the step not slip (or are you not worried that it would do??) Unless they are literally stuck to the floor, I would be so paranoid about that Blush I jarred my arm the other day doing bear crawls in our lounge as DH had just polished the TV and some cleaning spray must have got on the floor and my arm just skidded from underneath me!! I stopped doing bear crawls after that Grin

It is DH's birthday today and he is grumbling at me as I am going to make him exercise before we have a birthday tea of a Chinese takeaway (both of us) and a bottle of wine (him, not me) - I think that is perfectly reasonable don't you?

Purpleraindeer · 07/02/2018 20:11

Burpees on a step sounds lethal. I presume it’s hands on the step and feet on the floor not hands and feet on the step?! My mind is boggling.

Re Chinese - definitely exercise first. That makes the meal and wine taste better (although undoubtedly when I do similar I eat more....) Smile

Theromanempire · 07/02/2018 21:48

Ok so Cardio Core done - it's fab! Love the format and feels like it is a good cardio workout.

purple you could stop this one after 30 minutes as the final 10 minutes is core work so you would get all the cardio work done.

yumyumpoppycat · 07/02/2018 23:45

Happy Birthday MrTheRoman [Cake]

Fingers crossed for good physio session Reastie.

Purple burpees on the step were both with feet jumping out on the ground and with feet jumping onto then step so that both hands and feet end up on the step together before jumping back down and standing up, also lunges with one foot on the step, which feels weird. I googled but couldn't find a video showing burpees with hands and feet on the step to share. I think there is definitely room for an injury so will prob stick with once a week but my confidence is growing. It is hard but quite fun as different.

Roman my step has grips, I also put a large cheap ikea rug down which possibly helps, it did slip slightly once when I was doing hammer and chisel and had it on the laminate, but as a rule seems ok but nowhere near as sturdy as the les mills ones look.

yumyumpoppycat · 07/02/2018 23:47

Cake oops cake went wrong (story of my life, I always burn or undercook real life cakes!)

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 08/02/2018 10:22

I don’t like lunges with one foot on the step, it’s so hard! Btw step does move occasionally —if you accidentally kick it— . I think it would be safest in a carpet. We have hard floors and I always worry. We had old steps at my gym until recently and they were lethal as the non stick bits in the base had all come off Shock . We had to put the pump barbell weights inside the step base to weigh them down so they wouldn’t slide. And this gym I grudgingly pay over £70 a month just for off peak access (no evening or week end visits allowed) Shock . Luckily they now have nice new steps but took years or dodgy wiggly steps.

disappointed101 · 08/02/2018 21:23

Hi everyone! Sorry I keep disappearing on you. I did Asylum 2 over Christmas and started 80 day obsession on the 15th. On the 14th I went to Birmingham for super Saturday and worked out with Autumn. I am loving 80 day obsession. The next weeks workouts get posted every Sunday for the following week. I am loving the timed nutrition and have been able to stick to it with no treats or binges. Hope you are all okay!

Purpleraindeer · 09/02/2018 06:34

Hi disappointed - asylum 2?! I’m so impressed. I’ve never got through asylum 1 and I’m assuming 2 is harder. I’ve tried it 3x and each time after 2 weeks I’ve got ill which makes me think it just doesn’t suit me. Hearing you mention it makes me want to try it again though I can’t resist a challenge! How was working out with Autumn? I’m quite jealous of that.

Im still Shock at the step burpees. They sound extremely difficult particularly if you factor in a sloppy step. That is a real adrenaline work out!

Alo cardio core sounds like a possibility for next week. Am on hols so will have to pause on p90x3 because even I am not so committed that I take my weights on holiday!

Limped through max out sweat yesterday. My whole body was tired after all of the p90x3 weights workouts. Am glad of the rest day today Smile
