For C25K graduates who are taking the next step!

W10R1 this morning, 3x15min runs with minute walks in between. I wasn't at all sure I was going to finish but I did, checked MapMyRun & saw I'd done 6.3K.

Hadn't realised I could run that far!

I still haven't mastered the negative splits thing! Although I do get sprints right at the end sometimes if I realise I'm close to a PB.

Visiting family near Brighton this weekend. This is what the seafront looked like during my 6am 5K!

Lovely morning empress for a run. If I hadn't been doing the Tri tom I would have gone out this morn as it was perfect here too. Feeling very nervous but we had a kit tryout this afternoon Grin stood in shower ran downstairs with my DD and we got our cycle kit on. I managed 45secs so hopefully I can repeat that tom and it's not too chilly as it was 7c ere this morn brrrrr!

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 16/09/2017 19:26

Grin Its tomorrow? Good luck!!!

TriGirl007 · 16/09/2017 19:46

Thanks Smile yes tom lunchtime Shock hopefully it will be fun!!

TriGirl007 · 17/09/2017 15:53

Did it!!! Survived the Go-Tri and the run was the hardest bit which I didn't think it would be. Now switch back to a winter of running to try get up to HM distance Grin

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 17/09/2017 15:59

Yay well done!!!

grannycake · 18/09/2017 05:46

Well done on the tri!

TriGirl007 · 18/09/2017 14:40

Thanks the massive bonus was I just found out I was 2nd place over 40 female in my event Grin and 4th overall female! Just shows that running fitness is really good as I was nearly last out the pool and had done virtually no cycling, but I do run twice a week Smile. My amazing DH had super maintained the bike for me as well which was massive help as I'd only ridden the racer once before the race. So if anyone is tempted I highly recommend a Go-Tri.

grannycake · 18/09/2017 15:11

Bit tempted as I already ride a road bike but my swimming leaves a lot to be desired!

TriGirl007 · 18/09/2017 21:11

I've only started really swimming in the last 4-5mths granny and mainly as a cross train to the running. I've taught myself front crawl it's great way to stretch out the running legs Smile

TriGirl007 · 22/09/2017 14:06

It's a year since I started C25k Smile who would have thought it would change my life SO much! I'm still running a year later and it's done wonders for my mental health.
Just did 5k in my lunch break, was all slower splits this time as I hadn't fuelled but was good "maintenance" run I like to think.

grannycake · 23/09/2017 05:46

I started in May and I still can't quite believe I'm still doing it. I am looking to increase distance and managed just over 6k last Sunday so improving - but still very slow

TriGirl007 · 23/09/2017 08:47

Well done granny I increased very slowly as my joints were creaking too much. I added 0.5k a week to one run and kept the other at 5k. It worked for me. Plus I started swimming. I'm going to try do 12k on Sunday. I've only done that once a few weeks ago but I need to start building distance again on my "longer" run.

grannycake · 23/09/2017 14:58

I usually manage 2 shorter runs between 3 and 4 kilometres during the week and the longer run on a Sunday. I also try to get a 20 to 30 k bike ride in on the weekend. Looking at the weather not likely this weekend. Have had dear GC this am and I still need to cook, shop and clean as a manic couple of weeks coming up. Work in education and we.have inspectors in the first week of October

TriGirl007 · 24/09/2017 13:14

Good luck with your inspection grannycake my SIL is a snr teacher I see what pressure it puts on her, but running is my go to stress relief this year it's been brill.

Got 12k run in this morn it was a bit stop/start as I stretched enroute & took photo of sunrise. I also got flipping painful stitch at 10k mark which I couldn't get rid of with deep belly breathing so walked for couple mins, but glad I completed the run.

grannycake · 24/09/2017 15:57

Really impressed with your 12k. Mine was 6.5k so a little bit longer. Will try 7 next week. Running does help with stress I find but I still have to force myself to go. Once I'm out there I enjoy it

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 25/09/2017 12:55

Can we see the photo Tri? Love sunrises.

TriGirl007 · 25/09/2017 14:56

Don't want to "out" myself empress Grin hope your running is going well? Have you started the swimming lessons yet? Smile

I've woken stuffed full of head cold which maybe why I found the run harder than usual yesterday Sad hohum no swim for me tonight.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 25/09/2017 17:14

I've had all my weekends away now so I'm finally going to book them!

Poor you, get well soon. BrewCake

MulhuddartDrive · 25/09/2017 20:01

Hello all, I'm (kanye) back! I had a long stretch where for lots of reasons I wasn't getting out at all, but I've been trying again the last couple of weeks and got up to 6km today, so I felt i could come back without too much shame Blush

I'm glad I did before you had a new thread and I'd lose you forever! I'll read back on what I missed, but hopefully I'll be back posting regularly again.

TriGirl007 · 25/09/2017 20:48

Waves at mulhuddartdrive welcome back glad your finding your running mojo again it's really hard when you get stopped by life /injury.

Do we need a new thread soon?! I can't tell on my phone Smile

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 25/09/2017 22:00

Hello Mul! Welcome back!!!!

Blimey, this is the 973rd post. We're going to need a new thread very soon.

MulhuddartDrive · 25/09/2017 23:28

Thanks guys, looking forward to being back Smile

TriGirl007 · 30/09/2017 19:14

After no exercise for a week due to a cold I dragged myself out today in the rain and nailed my fastest 5k! Grin wasn't expecting that after a week of eating carbs n cake!

MulhuddartDrive · 01/10/2017 22:23

Cake and wine are often my best training pals, Tri! Blush hope you're on the mend.

Unfortunately the indulgences of the weekend (family wedding) did me few favours. I did manage a 45 min slow run this evening though, with only 2x1min walks. Hoping to get to the gym tomorrow.
