For C25K graduates who are taking the next step!

W10R1 this morning, 3x15min runs with minute walks in between. I wasn't at all sure I was going to finish but I did, checked MapMyRun & saw I'd done 6.3K.

Hadn't realised I could run that far!

SoPass well done!

It's a great feeling isn't it? What's next for you?

SoPassRemarkable · 11/08/2017 18:28

Well I've signed up for an actual 10k road race in march so between now and then want to see about improving my 10k time.

Then I was thinking possibly a half marathon....if I can do 10k, I can do 21k right?

But really I'd like to get into fell racing, so shorter distances than a half marathon but still a decent challenge.

Saying that I've totally ricked my back this afternoon.....bent down to pitch a spoon upmoff the floor and it's gone. Currently flat on my back in bed in agony. Not sure if it's coincidence or too much running yesterday jarred it? I've done it before occasionally but not for years!

Cross now as wanted to go to bodypump class tonight.

SkiBike007 · 12/08/2017 19:29

Well done soPass that's great running and I hope your back frees up soon. I have a temperamental back so sympathise.

I have angsty legs itching for a run but I'm away for wend with family & didn't bring any running kit doh! My DH has just found a local park run he reckons he can do in his swimming shorts & walk shoes tom grin alas my main hinderance is lack of sports bra or I could have borrowed his shoes and got in a 5k...I'll have see if I have the energy Sunday eve or v.early Monday morn Run

SkiBike007 · 12/08/2017 19:31

Grrr excuse the typos the mobile version just crashed on me

SkiBike007 · 14/08/2017 15:09

Squeezed in an early 10k this morning as I missed my wend one. I'd hoped to do 12k but I just didn't have the time and was feeling tired. Pleased I did it thought Smile

Stewart2017 · 17/08/2017 07:49

Just found this.....
just 36 other pages to catch up on LOL

SkiBike007 · 17/08/2017 18:05

Had a very wet n windy 6k last night it turned into a fast run so I decided to try do a sub 32mins 5k, but alas a flipping car did u-turn just as I was crossing the road so I hesitated and ended up at 32mins 4secs NOooo I smiled in my head Grin I was just squeezing a run in whilst waiting for my DD and the heavens opened so I was drenched n cold by the time I collected her! Still it was a good leg stretch Smile been quiet on here I guess people are enjoying their summer hols.

SkiBike007 · 17/08/2017 18:05

Welcome stewart2017

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 18/08/2017 07:22

Yes, welcome Stewart2017.

I'm getting a 10K in most weekends now but I still need to get a grip on my morning routine.

TriGirl007 · 21/08/2017 14:55

Hot humid 10.5k done early this morning, was 20c at 6am! It was supposed to be 13c but it was really energy zapping humidity. I'm off schedule abit with school hols so I had to drag my butt out early this morning.

TriGirl007 · 21/08/2017 14:55

I named changed from ski bike Smile

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 21/08/2017 18:34

Hello TriGirl!

I've worked out a 5k that I can do as part of my commute now. Early meeting tomorrow so I'm going to try it Wednesday.

TriGirl007 · 21/08/2017 19:31

That be great if you can "run commute" it's SO much easier to fit the exercise in them, good luck. My only option is cycling but it's a good 45-50min ride to work which does tire me out on the rtn leg.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 21/08/2017 20:19

It worked really well before, just means getting off the tube a few stops early. Now I just have to do it!

TriGirl007 · 21/08/2017 21:18

Go for it!

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 23/08/2017 08:34

WaHEY!!!! First ever 5k under 30 mins! 29:52, I realised I was close & just bloody went for it. Starting caffeinated definitely helps for me.

I also realised that a year ago this week, I was doing W1 of C25K. So great way to celebrate my running anniversary Grin.

grannycake · 23/08/2017 11:29

I finished C to 5k back at the end of June. I am v v slow - about 45 mins for 5k. Not sure whether to concentrate on getting faster or up the distance to 10K. Can usually manage a longer run on the weekend and about two 45 min runs midweek. Can any of you advise the best course of action. PS I am 61 and have never been "sporty" so I can't quite believe I've got this far

TriGirl007 · 23/08/2017 12:27

empress that's Awersome!! and really inspiring I have it as a goal by xmas to try get around 30min mark Smile

granny it really depends you & your body, I tried to increase distance initially but found it harder so worked on getting more comfy at 5k over a 6mth period and then started to build distance. My 5k is now 32mins, and my 10k 67mins after 10mths of running, but most important to me is I stayed injury free whereas my DH tried to up speed & distance too quickly and ended up injured for 2mths. I'd listen to your body and continue to enjoy your running.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 23/08/2017 12:44

Thanks Tri! I still can't quite believe it.

Congrats, Granny! I found that as I kept running & got fitter my speed just improved. I was like Tri's DH though, overdid it at one point & ended up unable to run for over a month which drove me nuts.

grannycake · 23/08/2017 14:37

Thanks for the advice. I have been following this thread for a while and you have all inspired me to keep going. I certainly don't want to be injured as I also cycle and don't want to not be able to do that as just got a new bike. I'll work on just getting more comfortable running and see what happens to the speed

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 23/08/2017 18:12

In that case I'm glad you've started posting. Welcome to the thread!

Boatsnack · 24/08/2017 13:32

Hi everyone I completed c25k before the summer holidays and have now started b210k. I'm using the zen labs app and have just done W10R1. Before the holidays I was regularly running 5km in around 30mins but I noticed today that I only covered just over 6km the whole time I was out. Can't believe a couple of weeks off could make such a big difference.

Zippyzulu · 26/08/2017 15:08

I haven't checked in on here for ages Blush. Glad to see everyone is doing so well though. I have to admit to going off the rails a bit with the holidays and being away so much as I do most of my runs when the dc are at school. I haven't run since last Sunday due to being on holiday somewhere really rural with only a single track road for several miles! I also hate running in high temperatures- fussy, me? That's the longest I've been exercise- free since January and I don't like it Sad.
I'm signed up for another 10k in a few weeks but I'm still having trouble with my knee so I might have to give it a miss... gutting but I am not sure I could cope with the extra distance after my lazy summer anyway. I'm awaiting results of an MRI to see what my future running looks like- I have another thread running looking for armchair diagnostics if anyone knows anything about MRIs!
I'm off to read through the rest of what I've missed in the last few weeks now Smile

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 28/08/2017 13:21

Hope everything works out Zippy FlowersFlowers

Boatsnack, welcome to the thread and I wouldn't worry too much yet - maybe give it a couple of weeks?

Slow, sweaty but beautiful 5k over a local moor this morning. With rabbits, dragonflies, butterflies, ponies and sheep & enough birds that I left my music off so I could listen to them instead. And flowers. And rivers & streams. And juicy blackberries. So all good 😀

grannycake · 28/08/2017 16:12

Nice 5k along the seafront this morning and 1min per kilometre quicker than I've run before so all good here
