For C25K graduates who are taking the next step!

W10R1 this morning, 3x15min runs with minute walks in between. I wasn't at all sure I was going to finish but I did, checked MapMyRun & saw I'd done 6.3K.

Hadn't realised I could run that far!

I used Strava as I like the feedbackin my headphones but the course was marked with signs every half km. Gd Luck with the period too that sucks!

MumBod · 06/08/2017 07:02

So excited!

SkiBike007 · 06/08/2017 08:22

Good luck!! Go smash it with a smile, mumbod

it's a beaut morning here I just went out for my first 12k really enjoyed being "in the relaxed running mode" just me and my head thoughts Smile

shortaris1 · 06/08/2017 08:55

Enjoy Mumbod just try to have a good time and smile and chat to people. That will get you round!

MumBod · 06/08/2017 11:22

Finished!

It was great!

Took me fecking aaaaages - 1hr 20 GrinBlush

My fitbit's been telling me fibs - I think today was the first true 10k I've ever run.

But I got round without walking or stopping, so that'll do Smile

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 06/08/2017 12:57

Well done MumBod!!!

And congrats on your first 12k, Ski!

I'm deep in housework but it's feeling pretty satisfying.

shortaris1 · 06/08/2017 13:51

Well done Mumbod my first 10 was slower than that.

And well done Ski I've just done 7.2 miles so my furthest distance.

MumBod · 06/08/2017 13:56

Thank you!

Has anyone else found their Fitbit gives way off distance measurements? Is there a fix for it?

I've signed up for a 10-miler in October, so I need to train properly.

shortaris1 · 06/08/2017 14:05

I don't have a Fitbit mum but my Strava knocked a mile off me compared to my pals who was running next to me!

MumBod · 06/08/2017 14:07

Ah well, technology is never perfect.

I've just downloaded the Map My Run app so I should be able to find a nearby 10 mile route on there.

SkiBike007 · 06/08/2017 20:51

Well done mumbod hope you enjoyed the post race buzz Grin

I'm trying to up my Sunday run by 0.5-1k a week just to see how my body copes, it was a bit achy in the last 0.5k around my knee so I was at my safe limit today. I'd like to get up to half marathon eventually but I'm not in a hurry Smile

Well done on your 7.2m run shortaris hope it felt ok.

I wonder if it's full moon cleaning buzz empress as weve been doing lots of housework today too!

MumBod · 06/08/2017 21:01

Thanks, Ski - I just got my stats through - I came 5059th GrinGrinGrin

SkiBike007 · 06/08/2017 21:40

Glad you made the top 5060 Grin wow that's a lot of runners! Hope the legs are ok tom

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 06/08/2017 21:48

Nice work MumBod!

The flat was a bit grubby when I moved in (shower cubicle was in a right state) so I've been attacking it & building flatpacks. It's all looking pretty good now Grin.

That sounds like a good plan Ski, I might try it. And I might shortly get organised enough to phone the local gym with the ad up about Saturday morning swimming classes.

SkiBike007 · 06/08/2017 22:41

Go for it! My swimming has really improved this last 6mths and it's a great cross trainer for the running. My "key" was finding googles I felt comfortable in as for years I struggled to put my face in the water and couldn't "wear" googles they always leaked! I wear Kayene ladies from aqua sphere recommended on the swimming thread on here.

shortaris1 · 08/08/2017 06:49

Brilliant Ski. That's good news.

Did 7.2 miles on Sunday and it felt good.

8 weeks til my half!

MumBod · 08/08/2017 09:27

I've signed up for a 10 mile in October - and I've bought a GPS watch to avoid any nasty surprises on the day 😂

SkiBike007 · 08/08/2017 18:12

What watch did you get mumbod? I've just ordered a Tomtom spark music so I use it running & swimming. I've resisted till now as I don't like wearing any watch but I know I'd like the tracking stats as I'm a data geekSmile

Well done on the running shortaris I'm not brave enough to switch over to miles yet Grin I need to do a cycle/run tomorrow as I've not done any yet and I've been warned your legs go like jelly on the transition Shock I best get practicing!

MumBod · 08/08/2017 21:07

I got a TomTom Runner. Pretty basic.

However, I got DP to check my usual route on a map today (because I'm a pedantic twat) and according to that, my Fitbit has been measuring it right.

I wonder if the 10k was a bit longer than 10k? Could that happen?

SkiBike007 · 09/08/2017 19:03

I looked at the tomtom runner too but I wanted to track swim & cycles, just had email saying it's shipping from china! Hope it doesn't take forever to get here Shock

MumBod · 10/08/2017 09:55

Mine's arrived!

I'm going to attempt to set it up now...

SkiBike007 · 10/08/2017 11:10

Good luck with set up - I spent several hours yesterday setting up a new phone only to forget the pin code and had to do factory reset this morning Blush i blame work stress & perimenpausal hormones I swear are turning my mind to mush Sad wishing I could have a duvet day not a work meeting I'm supposed to be running later...

SkiBike007 · 10/08/2017 11:11

But I did manage to log back into Strava and munsnet so got my priorities right Grin

SoPassRemarkable · 10/08/2017 20:39

Did my first 10k. 1hr 20mins and didn't walk once.

Really chuffed as prior to this I've only run/walked 5k a couple of times a week. Managed to run 5k without walking once. But I'm normally run a couple of mins/walk a couple of mins and repeat and struggled with a Park .Run the other weekend so quite a jump.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 10/08/2017 21:27

Welcome to the thread & congratulations, SoPass!
