I'm sure they'll find their way back to each other familygermsareok!

Lovely run this morning, despite me being up half the night with ds3 for the third night in a row I went at 6.15 and we were pretty speedy Smile

Hello, Fanfare please - I have finally made it into double figures - 10 miles today (and felt easy shhhh!).

DD did get up. The running is slow progress but she wants to get up again tomorrow and just do all the exercise kit - fine by me!

I managed to startle some squirrels, but nothing like your experience familygerms They must find each other - animal instinct innit.

Fantastic stillearnin, great run, and glad Dd made it. I'm sure the deer will be fine family, they would just be waiting to be sure you were gone I think.
Enjoyable run this morning, went to the woods and ran up local landmark hill, then took a new route down and through the forest. Dog was not helpful, had to retrieve her from a field, rescue her from an over friendly pack of Labradors and rescue a walker from my over friendly dog! Then the new route was surprisingly wet and muddy, and me in my new road shoes, sigh. However, it was overall very good fun, and the shoes are now soaking in a bucket of hot water!

ooo that does sound like fun emummy. I am currently realising that all my 'hills' are in fact inclines and I am up and onwards before I have noticed it.

familygermsareok · 26/05/2016 16:27

That sounds like a fab run emummy, I love eventful runs where unexpected things happen Grin. I think you are right about the deer, they will probably have been aware I was still there and waiting for me to go (feeling even more guilty now...)

Well done stillearnin, that's brilliant, and well done to your dd too, it's great she is so enthusiastic.

Hope you get a better night tonight cinnamon. The running sounds good at least!

5.1 intervals from me this morning. Last chance to run until Sun, and trying to decide whether to enter a local 10k then. It's a not very interesting there and back, but a friend is doing it, and it is part of ds's school's fun day so I feel I should support it.

Great runs everyone. My calf has been a bit tight since Saturday so have been taking it easy.

Have done 10 miles between Tuesday club run when I ran in a slower group as sweep and Wednesday buggy jog with DD to and from swimming. It's feeling better now so trying to not over do it before Monday's 10k.

On another note bought myself 1 pairs of running shorts! SmileBlush have never had confidence to wear shorts but figure if it gets warmer I need to be brave and weed them! Also intend to run when on holiday and it will be 28 degrees average.

Back from "beyond the wall" (Northern China). Haven't run/ exercised for 5 days and have eaten my own bodyweight in "conference food" i.e. eleventy million danish pastries and gallons of coffee and wine. Not sure I've eaten any vegetables.

9 miles this morning to try to get back on track - felt like a huge struggle but actually when I plugged it into Strava I hit a good pace so maybe I just went a bit fast in this heat

stilllearnin · 28/05/2016 08:09

Good morning - a bit hungover but got out for 3.5 miles this morning because I could not resist this morning sunshine (and because I knew I wouldn't do it later). purpletoes I am just going to carry on melting because I cannot cannot cannot wear shorts.

keyser I'm vegan and miss danish pastries!

cinnamon well done to your neighbour, and to you for getting her out there. I've done that a few times and its really good fun.

I am moving (again) and will back on to my local park run. My friend is currently having chemo and she has started back at parkrun at 48 mins and so I think I'll keep her company.

Nice early run along the river, up past the castle and back through the woods. Dog held me up by eating a pizza she found in the bushes. Labradors. Sigh. Legs felt quite tired, not sleeping great at the moment, but nice to get out, and entertaining watching dog desperately chasing rabbits she couldn't hope to catch!
Good luck with the move stilllearnin and best wishes to your friend, hope she recovers

parkrun this morning with my neighbour and her oh, his 10k pb is 36 min Shock but the three of us ran together with a dog each (she took one of mine and he took their dog) and finished 32:15 I'm very proud of her!

Bet that was a shock for your body KeyserSophie, glad you had a good run even if it was tough!

3.1 parkrun miles this morning, was very warm in the sun, the long leggings were not a good choice, 8 seconds quicker than two weeks ago so stopped the slide of getting slower and slower Smile

Purpletoes · 28/05/2016 23:19

3.1 parkrun miles from me today. Was a nice easy bonus run for me as DP decided he didn't want to do it so he stayed home with kids.

That's me for running till race on Monday. We have junior parkrun 1st anniversary run tomorrow but I and my 1 year old DD will be marshalling whilst DP and 4 year old ds run it! Smile

Beautiful sunny run in the forest this morning, deliberately slow to be nice to my achy legs! Loved it, it was so peaceful. Met someone walking deerhounds - gosh those dogs are big! Two big softies, though, which is just as well!

10.5 over the last few days, jog home from work, slow parkrun as I couldn't breathe (bloody hayfever) and a couple of miles today to try and sweat out my hang over...

Anglaise1 · 29/05/2016 18:09

Well done to all park runners this weekend!
41 miles to add from Tuesday, including 22.2kms from the Mont St Michel marathon in Duo I did today. No podium but the fastest time for me on that course (I've done it the last 3 years). 12.35km/h average and I really enjoyed it, next year I might do the marathon instead.

karatekimmi · 30/05/2016 06:59

5 miles from club on Wednesday, 3.1 and 26.2 from Liverpool Rock and roll series! Some amazing bling for those runs!

lastqueenofscotland · 30/05/2016 07:19

Kimmi I was going to do the RnR, but went to go and be 15 again and see the manic street preachers instead and drink too much wine glad that's the way things turned out as I'm still not right after VLM.
Defo have to do an RnR though! That bling is out of this world.

Purpletoes · 30/05/2016 13:28

Great running anglaise and Kimmi
Lovely bling.

I had the vitality London 10000 today. It was brilliant. Bands playing as we went around as I was in a quicker pen it thinned out nicely early on and I managed a PB 56:17 for 10.13km according to watch so absolutely chuffed with that. Nice bling and a great goody bag including an adidas tech t shirt that covers your bum! Grin
Still buzzing had a beer but needed to leave early to get back to kids. Love this running lark. Smile

4.5 easy miles from me, best I've felt in a few weeks.

Well done to all the racers this weekend.

Sounds like fun lastqueenofscotland!

Great running karatekimmi, Anglaise1 and purpletoes.

I'd have loved to have done the vitality 10,000, perhaps I need to be more organised next year!

Had a quick very late run last night just before it got dark to release the stresses of a devil baby ds3 who has spent the last two days mostly crying at me Sad

Glad you had a peaceful run emummy, deerhounds are gorgeous.

28.9 miles to add from the last week and a bit 869.5 is the new total. Managed 10.5 miles yesterday and the last 0.5 I actually sped up. Weird but felt strong.

Bought some new running bits from Decathlon this weekend and looking forwards to trying them out later.

Hope everyone is well and will try and catch up later.

Cinnamon hope he cheers up soon.

emummy · 31/05/2016 11:09

Rather broken up run this morning, dog kept disappearing into rivers and bushes, I kept having to go back and look for her. At one point she was eating something disgusting in a bush! However, we made it round and it looks like my walking + running total for the month will be around 270 miles. I think I might ease off a bit in the next couple of weeks, my feet are a bit sore!
Hope ds is ok cinnamon.
Enjoy your new stuff HalleLouja, I love new running stuff!

Hi all, I am quietly delurking to ask cinnamongreyhound some advice on... running with a greyhound Grin

I have a nearly-4 year old ex-racer, been with us for about 6 months. I am a beginning runner, and take DDog with me occasionally. She does ok, but I have one issue and a couple of queries if that is ok to ask here? Hope you all don't mind!

  • she LOVES to sniff. Any tips on encouraging her to run more and sniff less? I am trying to teach her a 'no stopping' command that only applies when running, but it's only moderately successful!
  • can you recommend a cheap harness suitable for a grey? At the moment we use a collar and lead, which is ok but I hate to jerk her neck when she stops for the inevitable sniff/wee/poo.
  • how far have you run with your grey? From lurking Blush I know you got another dog for longer distances, but just wondered. I am only running 4-6km, but would like to work up to 10k this year, and maybe further.
  • what on earth do you do with poo bags when running? I am out in the country so bins far and wide. I tend to attach to my belt but they don't half bounce around and one day, I worry one will split Shock

Thanks so much for any advice, and apols again for hijacking this thread, I wanted to be sure Cinnamon would see this. And thanks for the inspiration to everyone else, hearing about your exploits is a great boost for noobs like me!

familygermsareok · 31/05/2016 20:44

Well done Anglaise, kimmi and Purpletoes, sounds like you all had great fun in your races Smile

I entered a local 10k on Sun at last minute, enjoyed it but was almost 3 mins slower than last year which was a bit disappointing. Ankle has been fine though, so very relieved about that.

Hi FuzzyWhiteLegs, welcome to thread. Please feel free to stay and add your miles on. I can't help with dog related advice but I'm sure cinammon or others will be along soon.
