6.1 and 3.1 parkrun for me.

382.0 I think!

A nice club run in Wedneaday and parkrun with my sister and the double pushchair!

I have a half marathon tomorrow, I'm quite looking forward to it!

KeyserSophie · 15/05/2016 03:02

12 miles in total from me across 3 runs - a quick 4k gym commute yesterday, an 8k race recce yesterday- took ages as we kept losing the course which was an unmarked trail, even with the GPX file on my watch, and then a lovely 8k solo run this morning.

Also, someone beat my Strava CR for a section with what is clearly not a real time- arrgghhh. I don't mind being beaten (I quite like it as gives me something to aim for) but I hate being beaten when I've got no way of getting it back unless I can teleport :-)

Good luck to everyone racing today

Just a shorter run from me, not enough time today. Nice, peaceful cool morning, different route, felt good

How annoying about Strava Keyser. I hate cheats!
I hope your HM went well Kimme
15 miles to add from Friday and yesterday's 18km trail race. I was 7th woman overall and 1st in my age category (it was a big race and there were some really good runners!), the race was lovely as the weather was good and it is always great to run in the forest valleys despite the hills.
I was really pleased not to get an ugly trophy this time but a cheque for 50€ for the best sports shop in Rennes Smile

13.1 and an hm personal worst. Wheels fell off at mile 8.

Congratulations anglaise and well done for your run queen sometimes the worst runs are the ones we learn from, and sometimes they aren't, you just deserve WineCake for not lying on the floor and sobbing!!

I LOVED my half - a hilly trail run, a bit of mud, and a fairly brutal course! I'm a bit of a sadist as I love hills, I always feel awesome running shuffling past people on the up hill only for them to overtake me downhill I had to have a few walk breaks but had a great time. 2hr 34m 00s.

emummy · 15/05/2016 18:04

Well done Anglaise and kimmi, great results!
Sorry it didn't go well lastqueen. Wine time?!

cinnamongreyhound · 15/05/2016 22:23

Well done Anglaise1, result on the prize!

Sorry to hear it didn't go great lastqueenofscotland, good one to get a pb on next year!

Glad you enjoyed it karatekimmi!

Another slow run a supporting my neighbour with her new running endeavours 444.8

Well done anglaise and Kimmi

Sorry it didn't go to plan lastqueen. Next one should feel better.

I had my members 10k yesterday. There were pacers for 55 and 60 but I knew I wouldn't get 55 so I plodded along by myself trying to keep them in sight. Managed a PB of 57:20 although garmin did a reboot between 4&5km so only came up as 9.5km. Angry and obviously no records on strava.

But I know I did it and am now looking forward to the vitalitylondon 10000 in 2 weeks. Smile

KeyserSophie · 16/05/2016 14:56

Well done anglaise. Nice to get a prize you actually want! Re the Strava thing, I don't think it was a deliberate cheat so much as a newbie somehow screwing it up (looks like she might have forgotten to turn it off in the car or something).

Well done kimmi - sounds like a fun course, and purpletoes on your PB. Just a point that sometimes it's easier/ requires less energy to keep with the pacer, even if they're going slightly faster than you want to go than to pace yourself, especially if there's any sort of headwind. Maybe try and stick with the 55min pacer next time and see how you go?? Worst case you drop off in the second half.

Unlucky lastqueen. Bad races happen to good people. At least you finished it.

Went for a rage filled 8k tonight (one of those days). Absolutely flew round. I should get angry more often.

Slow run this morning, still feeling effects of a tummy bug from Sunday, felt OK.

KeyserSophie · 17/05/2016 13:45

Track tonight- 4x (3x500m) at 3k pace, whatever that is Grin. Managed to stay in the faster group albeit nearly died at sub-4min/k pace. About 7k including the warm up and cool down so 4.3 miles

Anglaise1 · 17/05/2016 19:54

Congrats on your HM Kimme glad you enjoyed it so much.
FlowersLast Q don't worry things will get better!
Purple I'm not a great fan of the pace time setters. Some of them are really awful. I don't ike running with anyone else unless they are my hare and or I'm not out to do a time.
Well done on your intervals, Keyser. I'll be interested to know if you think they have helped you on your trail races. I think they are important even for long endurance racing.
11.25 from today's club session, dog run plus 16 x 200m with a warm up.

First run since disasterous half... Since Sunday night I've been sick as a dog, got sent home from work on Monday etc which may have explained the time!!!

Went for a gentle run home and ran it in the fastest time since moving to this house! Feeling a better already Grin

Sounds like it may well be the reason lastqueenofscotland!

Two runs today, normal 4 miler with my friend this morning instead of last night and keeping my neighbour company on her new running endeavours this evening 491.75

Another 4 miles this morning, pretty quick as we have someone else join us, so 5 in our little group today Smile 495.75

Thanks for the advice and encouragement anglaise and keyser I do think pacers aren't my thing.

Lastqueen poor you it's horrid when you are ill.

Haven't done my usual runs this week as we had a team relay event last night. It was great fun. Our club had 17 teams in a 128 team field. The laps were 2.6 miles each. I was on the first leg. It was a tough course with 2 hills including finishing at top of a 700m climb. We had a nice mix of a couple of fast teams then the rest were mixed abilities.
Lots of shouts and cheers as you came into the finish.
3.5 to add for relay and warm up cool down

emummy · 19/05/2016 15:48

Sounds like fun Purpletoes!
Easy run for me and pooch this morning on our usual hilly forest route, never know how it will go the day after boot camp but today was ok. Think most of my achy bits are upper body today, thanks to lots of press ups and planks!

Another run with the cold cut 2 miles short as my cough has been Vv Chesty today and running was making it worse. Couple
More days off I guess... Can't wait for this to be over!

Adding 13.18 miles since my last post (3 runs)

KeyserSophie · 20/05/2016 04:52

Anglaise The intervals have massively helped. I think there are a couple of factors- I've learned to "cope" with a higher work rate/ degree of cardio discomfort, I've been able to practice faster leg turn/ experiment with stride length and cadence and it's also just improved my cardio fitness at threshhold. I am now running sections that I would have previously walked and my pace is faster overall. It's kind of exciting. I didnt really believe I'd be able to improve as much as I have at my age, given that I've always been a runner - thought it would really be about managing the decline Grin.

purple fair enough. Not everyone likes pacers. I've never actually used one in races, but I find on the track, it keeps me honest and I think it makes me run faster than I'd be able to on my own.

lastqueen take it easy with a flemmy chest. If I push it I always end up coughing my lungs up the next day. Weirdly, I never cough when I'm running but afterwards I sound like a chain smoking octagenarian.

Just adding 5 from this morning- easy pace as I've got a little race tomorrow- 2 laps - 13.5k in total. It's a bit of a lottery as there's a vertical km with no overtaking and then this ridiculous "runnable" incline up a rock strewn gully, but should be fun. This RD always puts on a good event- beer and cupcakes at the end.

Well done Anglaise. kimmi and purpletoes, great results, and those all sound like lovely fun races.
Hope you feel better soon lastqueen, at least you know why your race didn't go so well.
Your race tomorrow sounds interesting, keyser. It would be very frustrating to be stuck behind a slower runner on the no overtaking section, would they be able to pull over to let people past or is there absolutely nowhere to go? ( I am imagining being the slow runner with a build up of runners behind giving me evils but no escape).
I have a few runs to add, including 12 miles today, furthest I've run since last Aug so very chuffed. Only planned 8 but was an off road route and the last section is totally cross country, no path at all, just up tussocky hills which were very boggy following last nights rain. So I diverted along the road which added another 4.5 miles! Very pretty with lots of bluebells and bright yellow broom.
32.9 miles to add ( from 5 runs)

Sounds good purpletoes!

Get well soon lastqueenofscotland!

Just back from a 5k race at our local zoo, spectators had to pay £4 and had freeish range of the zoo. The race was two laps although the first lap was longer, saw a tiger very close up and by my watch managed it in 25:13 Smile

Morning! I saw a small and fit woman being bowled over by her fitness partner rolling a massive tyre at her down a hill on my run this morning - so a little like seeing a tiger close up Smile

Very little time this week and too much beer . So 3.5 from yesterday and 4.2 from today. A little faster though and I will start to build the distance up when I have time!

Making it 571.73?

KeyserSophie · 21/05/2016 12:37

Faced my Waterloo today- 2 lap course (hate laps) and at the beginning of each lap was a 1km each way "out and back" (hate out and backs). Mentally so hard, although I will concede it was helpful seeing where everyone was after lap 1 (because you could see them coming at you on the road section) and it did massively spread the field so I was free to plough up the roped scramble- family they can pull over but you need to rely on that happening- sadly there are still dickheads who don't like being "chicked". To be fair they are outnumbered by the number who will clap you through.

Managed to beat someone I didn't think I could beat and get 2nd place. Loving these shorter races. They hurt, but not for long.
