Still going strong, running and chatting as we go Smile

Thanks ladies.

Finally made it to track tonight and even managed to run there as a warm up so 7k plus 10k of 1200 at 10k pace , 100m recovery walk, 300m all out, 90 sec rest. Although when 4:15 became 10k pace I have no idea- think the pacer must have been on speed or something Grin as our group is the 3rd of 4.

Soooo looking forward to the light evenings, I know it's a way off but sunset is 20mins later than it was on 21st Dec so it's all going in the right direction Wink very chatty run tonight and the moon was so bright! 241.5

Bit the bullet and did an LSR. As I was doing trail I decided to do it by time rather than distance, so did a 3 hr run and managed 27.5 km in that time. I'm now slumped at my desk with "fizzy" legs.

I have a bad, bad feeling about this marathon Grin. Maybe I'll just go to Tokyo and go to a spa all weekend and just say I did it- cant be too hard to photoshop a certificate, right?

Speed session this morning, 3x 8 minute threshold runs with 2 min recoveries. Felt really hard, was delighted to look at watch afterwards and find my pace was fast and that was why it was hard! Planning a nice bath with healing salts tonight! The cold doesn't help, 1 degree this morning, although at least no gales or snow.
How long till Tokyo Keyser? And it won't be trail, so you'll be faster. Good luck.

cinnamongreyhound · 12/01/2017 14:43

I agree with emummy KeyserSophie, road is loads easier and your very fit you'll be great!

Usual Thursday morning run for me, the moon was amazing this morning 262.6 not including emummys miles.

Amazing 17k run this afternoon. Felt totally bionic. God knows where that came from (possibly the box of After Eights I scoffed last night- ha ha). More rationally, probably from a 2 day rest- didn't get out yesterday as planned due to back to back kids activities and crappy weather.

emummy · 15/01/2017 11:38

Glad you had a good run Keyser.
Unfortunately my run today was miserable! Solid ice everywhere so ran 10 miles on path edges, stopping to slide across big patches of ice every few hundred yards. Took ages to do and my whole body is aching from having run tensed up as it was impossible to relax. Should have taken my yaktrax but didn't realise the off road bits would be so bad! Never mind, next week will be better!

Glad you are feeling more positive Keyser - you are very fit and the marathon won't be a problem for you at all.
Emummy we had a little ice yesterday but nothing like where you are. It must be very difficult running in those conditions. We have a lot of mud here at the moment.
57 miles to add from this week, a long 2 hour run this morning with friends (one is in training for the Barcelona marathon).

cinnamongreyhound · 15/01/2017 14:26

Sounds like mine emummy, raining but he ground was totally frozen and very slippery! We kept to the edges and in some bits there was no ice so it wasn't all bad!

Fabulous keyserSophie!

Thanks all- definitely feeling more positive. It's not that I dont think I'll get round the marathon, more that I think I may miss my GFA target, which is 3:50. I'll feel a bit guilty if I miss it as it's quite an expensive trip (had to buy my place as part of a package), and also the whole point was to get the GFA and then use that for automatic London entry next year, on the 10th anniversary of my last effort. Let's see though. So much depends on how you feel on the day.

KeyserSophie · 16/01/2017 07:26

Ha ha- after that bit of naval gazing I forgot to add my miles. 7.5km "last run" with a friend who's leaving at the end of this week.

Better run today. Down in Dundee taking dog for her post surgery review- she might get the all clear for going for walks again, fingers crossed. So found some woods & reservoir to run round, lovely muddy interval session complete! Now chilling in car in a park, eating crisps!
Good luck with Tokyo, Keyser, will cross my fingers you get the GFA. When is it?

emummy 26th Feb. I'm heading there on 24th to "acclimatise". I benefit from a very hard taper, so going to do my last long run on 10th February and do barely anything in the week immediately before.

8.75 miles to add from a warm up run to track and then track which was 3x (800-600-400-200) with 1 min between reps and 2 mins between sets.

Normal Thursday morning run and another run this evening testing out our new potential parkrun route at the forestry commission seem to think the forest belongs to them and have started digging and chopping which might affect our route 465.7
