Hi FuzzyWhiteLegs. Mine don't tend to stop to sniff while they're on the lead. I let them off when we are well into the forest. I got mine from kisi, the guide lets you know which measurements to send with your order as their chests are so much bigger than their waists. www.kisi.co.uk/index.php/Canicross-Equipment/1283-Harness-Fitting-Guide/flypage-ask.tpl.html
I usually take both dogs, I have run a hm with my whippet terrier x but day to day I take them both. He runs 6miles comfortably and 8miles at a push. His first run was 3miles and he nearly died, so you can definitely build on their fitness. He will go better off the lead than when he's on but I think that's because he can do what he likes rather than having to concentrate.
Poo bags, I always of them out in the garden before I go so he often doesn't go while out but if he does I just carry it in my hand.

That's good about the ankle familygermsareok, don't worry about those few minutes.

Lovely run tonight, seemed to be running just out of the rain as it was raining at home.

Thanks so much for the welcome family, and for the advice Cinnamon. I will check out those Harnesses. DDog has only been off lead once since we have had her, which was exhilarating and terrifying in equal measure. I'm not at all sure she wouldn't disappear for good if I let her off anywhere I could run, as rabbits abound!

We had a good run out this evening tho, making 7.65km at a very easy pace, walking up most of the hills. This is the furthest she has done so far and she did really well, running ahead / beside me nicely for the most part. It was a cool evening so perfect for dogs, and me!

I won't add to your total yet tho as there was a lot of walking going on and I'm not sure if that is allowed!

Thanks again. Flowers

A lovely lunch break 3.5 today.

Today is payday and so I can pay to enter a HM!! I am thinking of the great birmingham run - because I can get there by train easily and I am thinking it will be a kind of fun race with all abilities. Any thoughts before I take the plunge? (Also there is a massive hill at mile 10 for over a mile apparently - and that kind of appeals!!)

First in? With 3.5

2.5 miles to add from track last night. Was horrifically hot (The "feels like" was 38 degrees) and I have done something to my left hip. Pulled up midway through the 2nd set. Just couldn't keep going. The pain every time my foot hit the ground was just awful. My physio friend says it's probably just tightness putting pressure on the tendon but it really is hideous.

This will teach me to say "Ive been injury free all season"

895.25 for May. Yet to score in June.

Welcome Fuzzy and good luck with your dog running. I often run with my border collie although I'm lucky he can be off the lead most of the time. I think he generally runs twice as far as I do.
keyser (()) Oh no, I hope your hip recovers soon and your physio is right. Take it easy, drink lots of water and ice it.
Still good girl, go for the Birmingham HM it will really motivate you!

Hi there, can I join in? I've been on the c25k thread but finished that a couple of weeks ago. I'm just adding a minute or 2 each week and trying to up my pace a little more.
I ran this morning and increased my distance a little over the same time, I'm still very slow though.

Do I just add my miles during the month?

Nice lastqueenofscotland!

Hi 0ellenbrody0, you're very welcome to join us Smile. The total is for the whole thread so you need to add your miles onto the last number in bold before your post so 17.3

I also have 3.3 to add with my neighbour, she's getting quicker we averaged 10:30min miles 20.6

Hi Ellen I did C25k too. There are some C25k+ podcasts which I use (the NHS ones) still and then I try to do a longer run a week in the same way you are.

lastqueen Shock that's quick!!

cinnamon Flowers for you - what a lovely and knackered friend you are!

Great run this morning, it wasn't fast but it's the first time that I have managed to run all the hills on this route, no walking at all! There was a total of 200m of elevation, most of it at the start, so really pleased. Was plotting routes for training for Glen Coe on my way home, there are a lot of hills in my future! DH has slightly put a spanner in the works as he looks to be probably going away for 2-3 weeks over the summer holiday, which will scupper my running as ds is too young to be left alone and his sisters aren't quite old enough to be left in charge of him. I see laps of the park coming up!

That's a pain stilllearnin. I have more of a challenge finding flat ground around here! And being a small rural northern Scottish town it is a pretty safe place to run.
lastqueen good luck tomorrow, hope all goes well

Parkrun for me this morning, felt awful but a bit self inflicted as I helped someone push their buggy up the hill on the second lap. I was finished after that Shock

10 miles in total over 2 runs, Friday and this morning. I've still got some hip pain but it seems to be getting better- fingers crossed.

I 'm glad I decided to drop out of RTTS though- otherwise I'd be in a pit of depression now.

Oellen well done on your first park run Flowers
Keyser I'm glad your hips are better.
Just back from an early morning Sunday run where my legs felt really heavy despite no running the previous 2 days. Not very pleasant and I'm glad I decided not to do the 34km trail race I was planning for this morning!
