Gorgeous run through the forests this morning after school bus drop off, and managed a PB for that route - finally got it under 1:45. Running is so weird like that. You train and train and nothing happens and then suddenly you sort of jump up a level for no apparent reason. Resting now until Saturday as have a little race.

6.8 tonight.

Just wondering what mileage people got in their last trainers, mine are at less than 400 and feel dead

KeyserSophie · 05/01/2017 01:57

without wanting to sound like an old gimmer "they dont make 'em like they used to"

Mine definitely feel dead around the 300-400k mark, although Hoka's are notorious for it (the cushioning and the uppers go). My Brooks are more hardy but sadly not as well suited to HK.

Anglaise1 · 05/01/2017 06:43

30 miles to add for January.
Mine feel dead after about 800kms which is 12 weeks but I can't afford to replace them that often. I run alternating with 2 pairs I buy cheaply on the internet (old models). Just need to run less I guess.

Lovely sunny and therefore freezing morning! -3 but not icy, God bless those gritters! Mixed pace run, felt OK till near the end then legs felt dead.
My trainers feel a bit old but I'm sure they've done less miles this year as I did a lot of trail running, so my road shoes should be Perrier than they are. Will be getting a new pair in March for London so they'll just have to hang on till then

Ran this morning and this evening with different people, not sure which was colder! This evening felt colder but I'm always colder personally in the evening as I've slowed down from a busy day. Shiny sparkly pavements tonight! 129

6 miles to add today. I don't like running in fog!

KeyserSophie · 07/01/2017 12:12

15k race today (pretty hilly:+700m) but a mixture of technical trial and tarmac

Ironically on the start line I said to myself "Just go out hard Sophie. If you blow up, you blow up. There's no point in coming 5th" I came 5th Grin.I just cant compete with 25 yr olds over that sort of distance frankly.

V happy with the time though ( 1:39)and felt pretty strong.

Fantastic blckcat

10k social run for me today, they had done lots of advertising so was a much bigger group than unsual which was nice!

Relaxed 11k solo run (yeah, ok, I played Pokemon Go but only for a bit, honestly). Should have stretched my calves after the race on Saturday as they were like rocks.

Well done on your race Keyser great result especially with that ascent. Envy of your hills, it is too flat around here.
24 miles from Friday to add, saw the podiatrist and need a special insole which I hope will help the foot with the bunion. They took a video of me running on a treadmill and it was awful - I will make a real effort to change elongate my stride by lifting my knees more. My shoulders also slant to the left and my toes point inwards. The podiatrist couldn't understand how I ever made it to the end of a marathon with such a weird running style.

Good news they may be able to help through Anglaise1!

Well done your race KeyserSophie, I can't really picture those hills!

Lovely canicross run tonight, was pouring and very windy at 5.45 by 7 when we started it was clear and bright although there were puddles throughout the forest Shock 222.5

Great racing Keyser, 5th is fantastic.
Hope the insole helps Anglaise. I'm not sure I'd like to see a video of me running!
Fartlek this morning, couldn't face the steep forest hills so stayed in town and did the slightly less steep ones here! Felt hard and was a bit down till I looked at my pace afterwards and realised I'd gone pretty fast, for me anyway!
