First run of marathon training done, starting a week early as Dh away for work so might not get all the runs in. Warmer today, all of 3 degrees!

Same here emummy but it was a balmy 7C by the time I ran at 7pm, only 2C on the way to school this morning. 101.4

Well done emummy. I am slightly in denial about Tokyo (i.e. telling myself that a 4hr trail race is basically the same thing as it takes the same time). Forcing myself out for a long road run at the weekend to at least set a benchmark. Going to try to do 20km at marathon pace.

Lovely trail run this morning. Getting used to my new Brooks

I'm impressed that you are starting your marathon training so early 'emummy*. I've never done more than a 12 week training plan!
Got my Strava yearly update and have run over 3300kms this year and spent the equivalent of 2 weeks running so far Shock and not all my runs are uploaded to Strava cos I sometimes don't bother to wear my Garmin. Probably far too much time spent running and not enough on other things in my life, oh well.
16.1 to add so far this week

emummy · 07/12/2016 10:54

I wasn't going to start till next week but with dh away it's not clear if I can do all the runs. The plan is 17 weeks, and I like a few extra weeks padding for the days things don't go to plan!
No such thing as too much running! As long as it makes you happy that is.

KeyserSophie · 08/12/2016 07:06

That is super impressive Anglaise. I was targeting 2000km for 2017 but I'll be a few hundred short due to the injury I had in the summer (and general laziness when it was hot). Trying to also get to 60,000m total vertical by 31 December.

Adding 4.75 from gym commute the today - slightly longer than usual due to subway closure Grin

Short mixed pace run in the forest, satellite refused to talk to me so distance approximate!

Wow Anglaise1, not that it surprises me!!!

Lovely chatty run this morning in the dark, sooooo mild!! 136.15

Easy paced trail run this morning. Another beautiful day here.Clear skies and about 15 degrees

Tired legs this morning. Did ds's school running club first, then out for an hour. Went too fast I think. Now for a rest!

First attempt in years at a 23km road LSR. Mapped out the flattest loop I could find on Hk Island (+360m Grin) and did it this morning. It was so so hard. Not sure if that was because it was my 4th training day in a row, or not enough carbs this week or just not used to continuous running but yeah, not pretty. Work to do before Tokyo.

I think my calf is recovered! I've been for two steady 5k runs this week with no more ouches.

167.23

Sirzy · 10/12/2016 11:44

Hilly 5k this morning. My first solo run in ages, I seem to have developed a mental block with them recently so dragged myself out and loved it!

stilllearnin · 11/12/2016 11:12

I haven't RTFT sorry! except that is brilliant news Stella. But I have been out this week and I have 11.21 to add. Sluggish but hanging on in there!

Anglaise1 · 11/12/2016 14:24

Glad your calf is better Auntie a little rest can do the world of good.
Keyser I agree, running a marathon road race is so different from long trails. Its very intensive with no rest, at least with trails you get the opportunity to recuperate by walking up steep hills, crossing rivers and wading through mud! I recover more quickly from road races though, I'm always more 'broken' after a long trail race, not sure why. You've still got plenty of time to train for your marathon, but stay off the trails or they'll slow you down (at least that's what my coach always says to me when I'm marathon training!)
31 miles since Thursday, feeling a lot better and might even do the local 10k race next Sunday.

Easy run this afternoon while ds at a class. Dh has texted to say he had a lovely run along the river in Brisbane, not that I'm jealous or anything! I am knackered though, took all 3 dcs swimming before lunch, need a wee lie down.
Glad you're better AuntieStella
Well done Sirzy and still, it's good to get out.

KeyserSophie · 12/12/2016 13:37

Anglaise He's right, sadly, but I can't not trail run completely or I'll go crazy plus I've got a few shortish races in Jan/Feb. I'll do my LSRs on road and get back to track once I get back from my holiday in late Dec.

Stella Glad your injury has disappeared

Adding 4.75 from tonight's run- once I was up the unrunnable hill (first km) I treated the rest as a tempo run and it was so different to Saturday. I felt really strong and light. Must be the prosecco Grin

22.9 to add I think Confused

Got yet another bloody cold from my biohazard children- ugh.

Easy paced trail run to try to clear my sinuses

emummy · 15/12/2016 10:53

Oh dear keyser, hope your cold clears up soon. Dd1 has a stinker right now, am trying to fend it off but I can feel it coming! Thank goodness Dh gets back on Saturday!
Steady run in town this morning
