What has happened to me Grin

StrawberriCream · 24/05/2016 18:28

Also did week4 run 1 today and felt good!!!! I can run for 5minutes without stopping!!! (Who am I???)

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 25/05/2016 11:03

Well done Strawberri and hobnob

Did week 8 run 2 today. Managed it very slowly but my hips started to hurt. Never had that happen before. Confused

DontDoItDi · 25/05/2016 12:22

Sigh Two nights ago I was out running and fell flat on my face. Caught my foot on an uneven pavement or it just dragged a bit and caught. One split lip, broken tooth, skinless knee, grazed elbow, grazed chin, and a lot of other bruises and grazes later, I’m out of it altogether. I'll really miss it but I had a sudden fall last year too so I seem to be at risk.

Who knew running could be so dangerous? Sad

Good luck to everyone who’s keeping at it.

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 25/05/2016 13:29

Oh no DontDoItDi that must've been really horrible for you Sad

BitOutOfPractice · 25/05/2016 13:54

Oh no Dont! I hope you're on the mend very soon Thanks

I did W2D3 last night. Felt OK. I'm feeling super focused still

SkodaLabia · 26/05/2016 13:30

Oh no Di, how awful.

W7R3 done today. Nice cool weather, Only-A-Bit-UnFit Friend and I trotted and puffed our way along our route, and rather enjoyed ourselves. Smile

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 26/05/2016 20:51

Week four day one done again and I was crap.
It's warm here and a lot of the run was hilly
Very disappointed Sad

SkodaLabia · 26/05/2016 21:12

What do you mean by crap? Did you have to finish early or something?

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 26/05/2016 22:15

No i just couldn't quite do all of the run bits and kept having to slow to walking when I have managed that run comfortably before.
Was hoping to move on to the next run on the weekend, hopefully will go better.

SkodaLabia · 27/05/2016 06:30

It's weird isn't it, how sometimes it's really difficult and other times it's manageable.

Are you going slowly enough? I've found reading up a bit on good running form has really helped, I do quick very short strides rather than long ones, and concentrate on landing lightly. It definitely makes it easier.

0ellenbrody0 · 27/05/2016 08:26

Still here. Up to 34.5 mins now and managing ok. I think yesterday must have been National ' Let your Dog Crap on the Pavement' day.

I had to sidestep one too many turds, disgusting.

BitOutOfPractice · 27/05/2016 08:42

I'm sitting outside the gym. Make me go in Confused

SkodaLabia · 27/05/2016 12:55

GO IN!

There, done.

StrawberriCream · 27/05/2016 13:25

Did week 6 run 3 this morning am feeling very proud of myself although it was really hard to keep going. I find it takes me at least two or three minutes to find a pace I can maintain (I'm using an Up band) and it's clear to see that I go incredibly slowly to start off, then get faster and slow right down at the end. I couldn't sped up for the last 60 secs but I did for the last 10!

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 29/05/2016 08:59

Feeling really under the weather Sad so no runs but dd and I had a lovely walk instead yesterday evening to get me over my 10,000 steps.
Dosing myself up and hoping to be back on track soon.

StrawberriCream · 29/05/2016 10:57

Won't be able to run this week as the kids are on half term (single parent) and too young to be left for half hour- I have core workouts that I am trying to do everyday to hopefully help tone up a bit

stripeyzebra321 · 30/05/2016 12:08

Hi, I'm joining your thread in a hope that it inspires me to continue.

I had completed the c25k in order to do a 4K earlier in the year. I had no desire to take up running but it's free so thought I would give it a go. I did the 4K and hated it and said I would never do another event. However since the event I have pretty much stopped altogether so I am getting back on that horse and have booked into a 1k fun run with my DC and a 5k for September to give me enough time to prepare. Without the events I just can't bring myself to do the runs so it should give me the push I need.

I am going back to basics this week and going back over the app to try and get my motivation back, it's amazing how my mood improved when I was in the zone.

SkodaLabia · 31/05/2016 08:12

Hello stripey! I found this thread very inspiring, but was coming at it from a different angle; I hadn't exercised since school and was (still am) very overweight and unfit.

I don't actually fancy doing an event, and I think a challenge for me will be to keep going once I've finished week 9. Until I'm much fitter, faster and thinner I would feel self conscious running in an event. Good on you for getting back on the horse though (perhaps the 5k would be easier on an actual horse?).

Meanwhile, Team Skoda are now in Week 8. Starting to feel it a bit in one knee now we're running for longer, but hoping to get the eating sorted and then there'll be less weight to heave about.

stripeyzebra321 · 31/05/2016 10:55

Oh skoda if you fancy doing a event be reassured there are people of all ages and sizes. The fun run I attended set off after a marathon so after I had finished I sat outside a cafe on the marathon route and just watched for what felt like hours. I am lazy and unfit and I struggled with mine but you should of seen the people in the marathon what a eye opener. Yes there were lots of fit people but lots of old people some honest to god had to be over 70 I was amazed and though fair play to them for doing it. It was such a mix of people don't let it put you off.

I'm starting small and doing a 1 mile as my DC wants to get into it, I fear I will get my ass kicked by a 9 year old but it will give me the push I need to get back on that horse. And I wish it was a horse as in my head I go really quick but in reality I'm really slow.

I am loosing weight ATM and am a stone down and hoping to be 2 stone down by the time the 5k rolls round so I am praying that makes a difference.

I start back on the c25k app tomorrow and instead of going back to week one I am aiming for week 5 as its 8mins jogging and I hope I can cope with that. Fingers crossed

BitOutOfPractice · 31/05/2016 12:24

Hello!

I brought my running kit to Spain and of course I haven't run a step! Blush
