I started a new thread. Can't link as on phone and have a heat pad on my knee while awaiting my physio apt.

And on your marks.....

Swim tonight instead of run.
50 lengths of front crawl
Blimey I'm knackered

NattyGolfJerkin · 19/05/2016 19:29

Yeah, it's ok. You just need to get over the initial discomfort!

Mate and I successfully completed 8/3 and so we've finished our 5k training. We did 5.2km of running, 7.2 overall. Really pleased. I didn't expect us to do it first time out, but we did Grin. We start our 10k training on Saturday morning !

SkodaLabia · 19/05/2016 19:36

This is all very inspiring. I think I'm going to try to swim a bit. I'm quite a good swimmer in terms of technique, but unfit. And I hate going to the pool. But it would be good to get some exercise on non-running days.

Going to have a look on eBay for a power hoop!

NattyGolfJerkin · 19/05/2016 20:00

I love swimming but I get horrible ears from it so I end up doing that embarrassing 'lady swim'

NattyGolfJerkin · 19/05/2016 20:50

Just looking at the stats on my app. Mate and I have covered 133.79km (83 miles!) since starting our c25k journey. Amazing. So motivating

0ellenbrody0 · 19/05/2016 21:20

As anticipated, I struggled after a 5 day break. I ran for 33 mins but only got as far as I had been getting in 30.
Swimming is good skoda . I really enjoy it, but I always manage to see a pupil (teacher) while I'm in my swimming costume, not good!

SkodaLabia · 19/05/2016 22:10

Yes, I love the idea of non weight bearing whole body exercise but I hate the cold changing rooms, the drive to get there, blah blah. There's something so easy about putting trainers on and running out of the front door.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 20/05/2016 07:21

I am trying to do the swimming as well as some gym sessions and the C25K to improve my general fitness but also to try not to wreck my knees and back.
So far all good Grin

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 20/05/2016 07:22

Oh and I am a wimp in that the pool is at a private gym so naice changing rooms and a jacuzzi and steam afterwards.
Blush see a wimp me

SkodaLabia · 20/05/2016 07:42

Yes, I'm worried about the knees side of things. I'm about 4 stone overweight, so even with good running shoes that's a lot of weight crashing down. I've been researching about good running form though, which hopefully has helped me to get this far.

BitOutOfPractice · 20/05/2016 08:33

Natty a very very big well done to you and your mate from me. Flowers

I don't really like swimming and I hate all the changing room palarver

I have a sore throat and ear ache today so I'm postponing my next run for 24 hours

BitOutOfPractice · 20/05/2016 08:33

Those of you worried about knees, have you tried rowing?

DontDoItDi · 20/05/2016 10:30

Well done natty Smile

W7R2 for me. 25 mins is just enough for twice round the duckpond to see the baby swans.

I like swimming and last year I went for a weekly swim as well as C25K but somehow I haven't got round to it this year. Not been convenient.

SkodaLabia · 20/05/2016 11:24

W6R3 done! 25 minutes! Get in!

DontDoItDi · 20/05/2016 14:02

Yay team skoda! Grin

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 20/05/2016 18:39

Went back and did the 1.30 run 2 min walk x6 workout.
Managed to do over 3k much to my surprise.
Am going to re-do another week 3 before i go up to week four i think.

0ellenbrody0 · 21/05/2016 19:58

Well done skoda I did another 33 mins today, my hip is quite achy which is not good, but I'm at 5k. Warm up walk, 33 min run then a cool down walk. All in all: 42 mins, so still v slow.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 21/05/2016 20:03

I admit it I am hooked.
Did week 4 run 1 this evening
2x3 minute runs
2x4 minute runs
Longest distance yet and nowehere near as bad as i was expectin
Think i will repeat this one a couple of times
And definitely no runs tomorrow Grin

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 21/05/2016 20:05

Well done ollen
Dont worry about time at the moment it will improve slowly

BitOutOfPractice · 21/05/2016 23:28

I started w2 today. Didn't feel too bad. Stiff now though although I have spent all afternoon trailing round the shops with dd2. Joy

SkodaLabia · 22/05/2016 16:28

Into week 7 now. I'm with you hobnobs, it's weird how totally hooked on running I've become. I've become a bit Landmark Forum Forever Living about the whole thing. Grin

BitOutOfPractice · 22/05/2016 22:54

It gets you like that! I've done W2D2 today. Knees suffering a bit but it's done. Tuesday before I can go again

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 23/05/2016 08:38

Going to be starting Week 8 this week.

Need to stick with running outside as I've only done one run outside and I struggled.

I've planned my route and hopefully it'll be about the right distance.

Wish me luck.

BitOutOfPractice · 23/05/2016 08:43

Good look Until

I expected to be crippled with my knees today but I'm fine! No chance to run today with a loooooong car journey but I'll be back on it tomorrow

StrawberriCream · 23/05/2016 09:09

After an awful d&v bug all Friday /Saturday I think I'm going to have to wait till Wednesday to run as a brisk ish walk on the school run this morning made me feel nauseous :/
