Clubs annual winter solstice head-torch run up a local hill (just under 900m high, maybe more of a mountain) tonight. Perhaps one of the madder things the club does but 30 of us turned up. Has turned colder so it was almost blizzard conditions at the top, nice to see some snow though to add to the festive spirit. Also helped by downing some hot spiced rum and mince pies at the top before being blown heading back down Xmas Grin.

Well done Anglaise fantastic time, and also well done custard on the improved times!

Feel like I haven't run in days!!!! It was only Saturday. Looking forward to a trot out tonight even if it is supposed to rain.

Sounds like fun runtothehills! I can't write your name without singing in my head Blush Bridge and groom took about 6 slices home from the cake so not bad at all!

Well done anglaise1 and custardcreamdreams on those 10k times Xmas Smile

MyBlackCat · 22/12/2015 17:07

4.5 miles in gale force winds - OK heading out, tough coming back.

Just a jog round the block with a lady from club while we are closed for the winter, resting tomorrow then going to aim for 16 miles on Xmas eve

Anglaise1 · 22/12/2015 19:09

17 miles from the last 2 days, off to England on the boat tomorrow for Christmas at my parents so no running for a few days. Hope the wind has died down a bit for the ferry crossing by tomorrow morning.
Happy Christmas!

Think we've lost a few hundred somewhere! 4 windy miles from me (weather not bottom) 786.5

HalleLouja · 23/12/2015 10:01

5.5 soaking wet miles from my club's festive run. The Rivers of Babylon may have been sang. We had a giggle and wondered if we would ever get dry.

FiftyNineOhEight · 23/12/2015 19:52

Well done Anglaise

I huffed and puffed and ran/walked 3.1 today - gorgeous sunny day.

Did the annual ooohh aaahh run tonight with my club looking at Christmas lights, 4.4 miles so with those FiftyNineOhEight and hallelouja 799.5

KeyserSophie · 24/12/2015 10:21

Anglaise Well done on your PB- Legend!!

Unfortunately doesn't seem like the wind has died down. Ran along Bournemouth sea front this morning- going east I was basically Olympic speed. Coming back was like I was pushing against a scrumming machine with three 15 stone blokes behind it! Have to admit I nipped inland to get a bit of relief from sand blowing in my eyes at 80mph Grin. 6.5 miles in total to make 806.

Doubt I'll get out tomorrow as hosting Christmas and lunch is at 12 (and then I'll be a bit pissed). Going to aim for Boxing Day instead.

cinnamongreyhound · 24/12/2015 12:00

I planned to run this morning but spent the night feeling ill and was attached to the loo from 5am Sad

emummy · 24/12/2015 13:16

Oh dear cinnamon, hope you are better soon and that no one else in the house gets it.
No running since Sunday for me, have had horrific cold and sinusitis, been feeling terrible! Improving now and have managed to walk dog, so aiming for the Boxing Day fun run, would be a shame to miss it.

lastqueenofscotland · 24/12/2015 16:30

On cinnamon you poor thing .

familygermsareok · 24/12/2015 20:18

Hi everyone, just wanted to pop on and wish everyone a Happy Christmas Xmas Smile
Hope you feel better soon Cinnamon.

I won't be adding anything to Dec miles as Achilles wasn't coping with even reduced mileage so physio recommended absolutely no running for 6-8 weeks Shock Sad
Have joined gym and finding I'm quite enjoying swimming which I used to think I hated. Cycling and cross trainer bit boring but have high tec screens so I've been tramping over Arthur's Pass in NZ and cycled some of the Tour de France segments Grin .
Can't wait to get back outside though, hopefully mid Jan.
Happy running everyone.

3.1 Boxing Day parkrun files from me, very windy but dry and pleased with my time

MrsHarveySpecter · 26/12/2015 15:49

Merry Christmas all. I squeezed in a very dark but festive 3 miles before my family woke up very early yesterday morning, marking a return to marathon training after ten days off with a bruised ankle (but some spinning to keep things ticking over).

custardcreamdreams · 26/12/2015 20:49

Merry Christmas all! Hope you all had a lovely day yesterday and hope you feel better soon cinnamon

Hauled my very hungover ass out for a group run a new gym was holding this morning. Knew it would either kill me or cure me, luckily it was the latter. I'm not used to running with people but really enjoyed it and managed to keep up with the athletic club runners.

Bithurt · 26/12/2015 22:09

Hi, I'd like to join this thread.
Away to start training for a 10 mile then a half marathon 6 weeks later.
I just started running 5 months ago and have 2 5k's and a 10k under my belt. Although I've done a few 10k's on my own. Just no medals for it Wink I've not done a parkrun in a couple of months although I'm hoping to get back on New Year's Day.

KeyserSophie · 27/12/2015 09:13

welcome bithurt. Just add any miles to our running (no pun intended) total. We start a new total every month. If you remember, bold the total to make it easier for the next person to find. General running banter also welcome.

I managed to get out early on Boxing Day for 9.7 miles. Wised up to the Bournemouth head wind and ran with it behind me along the sea front and then headed inland and back by the road. There was so much sand blown up on the promenade it was quite hard going in places.

Finally got out for a run! Hellish week of foul cold and sinusitis, have felt horrible but improving now. Didn't do fun run yesterday as was pouring with rain; I thought getting soaked wouldn't help my recovery! So beautiful run this morning, sun coming up, -1, through the forest. Dog had a great time, think she missed her runs! My breathing sounded terrible, but my legs felt good, so am very happy. And my new running socks and gilet were fantastic.
Happy days!
Welcome Bithurt, good luck with the training.

Anglaise1 · 27/12/2015 13:21

Welcome to the thread Bithurt and don't forget to add your mileage, we need some this month.
Glad you are feeling better emummy and hope Cinammon managed to keep the Christmas lunch down.
10.6 to add from a wet Christmas Day morning run (near Bath) and 11.3 from this morning's run with the dog (back in France) who needed the exercise after a few days without walks or runs.
Had a lovely if brief visit to the UK, things I noticed...not many overweight people at all, lots of makeup and lots of Christmas jumpers. I can't imagine French people ever getting into that trend. There is less tendency to make a fool out of yourself here, more's the pity!

4 from me just to keep things ticking over!
Back on it properly tomorrow.
Finally got a garmin not using annoying nike app,
Very exciting!

Welcome Bithurt

Was it a present lastqueen? I loves mine as I hate taking my phone with me.

My family were all thinking along the same lines this year and I got loads of new gym/running clothes which I'm well happy about.
That's some motivation Anglaise getting out to do that mileage on Christmas Day.

No running today. Tried to do a HIIT video instead but the dc kept hassling me and the door went about five times. Took the plunge and just signed up to a half marathon in March I was dithering about. Everyone I've talked to that has done it says it's a nice route along the coast. Suppose I may start training for it now.

suzannecaravaggio · 27/12/2015 17:24

50.3 from me (over 5 runs) since I last posted

I too ran in the rain on christmas day, also ran on boxing day....well the gym was shut had to do something :o

runtothehills · 27/12/2015 21:02

Hi all, hope you had a great festive few days! Welcome bihurt when are your races?

Glad you're feeling better emummy it was a stunner of a day today!

Total of 19 from Tuesday to today. Managed a 3 miles with my DH on Christmas day and also 3 on Boxing day (very wet!). Managed a lovely 7 miles up hill behind house today in the snow with the sun rising over the hills. Usually we go skiing on Boxing day but sadly not enough snow this year, did go sledging with the DD's today instead Xmas Smile.

Off for a couple of days to Glasgow so no running, but hopefully fit in one more before the end of the year. Have a 10k on the 2nd too.

941.3 Happy Hogmanay and see you all next year!!!
