Well done runtothehills! Bet that feels good! Hope you get a good result from your thesis.
Saw something about that race in the paper, sounded like fun. Enjoy the wine, well deserved I think!

emummy · 12/12/2015 08:32

Brisk run in the dark, cold but not too icy.

Purpletoes · 12/12/2015 11:31

Parkrun and warm up from me so 4 miles.

Managed to smash PB by over 1 min so chuffed at that. I have signed up for a 10 mile race at the end of January as my last hurrah of maternity leave. **

6.2 from me, first race of two for the weekend, vv few people in it most finishing in 56/57 mins so spent a lot of time alone with hardly anyone infront of me to aim at. Ok time considering.

6.7 from me taking us to

Congrats runtothehills. Hope you have some major celebrating planned.

1 minute is fantastic Purpletoes! My parkrun pb hasn't changed in about a year and more.

4.1 from yesterday. Loving my new thermal tights in that weather.

cinnamongreyhound · 13/12/2015 08:46

Well done runtothehills!

Well done purpletoes and good luck in the race!

Well done lastqueenofscotland, hard being on your own in a race.

I had a call while out with my mum Friday that Ofsted are visiting next week Sad did my planned runs and spent some time yesterday preparing and will do the same today. Dh is working so hadn't planned to run anyway. Did parkrun as tail runner but walked second lap so will only add first, plus here and back and a 10k makes 402.32

KeyserSophie · 13/12/2015 11:15

Good luck with Ofsted cinnamon. Hopefully they will be full of Christmas cheer.

Well done on completing your thesis Runto- What's your subject?

Well done on your 10k lastqueen. It's hard not having a pack, especially on pacier races.

Great result on the new PB Purple. 1min off a 5k time is awesome.

I did the North Face HK 50 yesterday. Got a bit of change out of my targeted 9 hrs so happy enough. Placing was a little disappointing but I know I haven't done enough hill training of late to be truly competitive plus I'm 4kg over my fighting weight (oops). The person ahead of me was 14 mins in front so at least I'm not torturing myself wondering if I should have chased them down in the last few km. Hills (all 3000m of them and backloaded into the last 20k) were an absolute killer. Soooo depressing when you have a 40 minute climb and your watch barely moves as it's basically a vertical km. The other thing is I basically feel fine today so I think I need to work on pushing myself rather than constantly fearing a blow up. Anyway, my amazing friend and sometime training partner won the 100k and came 7th overall (i.e. including the men) so super proud of her.

402.32+31.1=433.42

lastqueenofscotland · 13/12/2015 11:45

Found out I was 15th yesterday so not bad. Not fast though not too many people taking part- v small local race 70/80 odd people. 2nd 10k of the weekend done! Defo faster just not sure by how much. Waiting for chip times as think it might have been fairly quick.

Well done on your7th keyser!

suzannecaravaggio · 13/12/2015 17:06

8.5 from me, I took a few days off because I had a virus, playing it safe with a shorter than normal 'test' run but I felt fine.
448.32

KeyserSophie · 14/12/2015 01:22

lastqueen You've discovered the secret of my placing success- do local races with not many people in them Grin. Fingers crossed for the chip time on your 2nd 10k.

It was actually my friend that came 1st/7th in the 100k. I came 11th/80th in the 50k. I've got to stop being friends with her- makes me feel too inadequate.

emummy · 14/12/2015 11:07

Beautiful run in the snowy woods.forgot how hard it is to run in snow so knackered now.

Well done Keyser and Lastqueen on your race results. MSc was in Advanced clinical practice Keyser.

7 miles yesterday up hill behind house. Today I indulged in my other passion and went ski touring up the hills by Glenshee. 1000m ascent and about 10 miles distance covered. Quite different from running, but a lot of the hill runners do it for training (and competition) in the winter (weather permitting!). Beautiful inversion on the tops.

Love the snowy pic emummy

lastqueenofscotland · 14/12/2015 19:27

5.5 vv pacey miles home. I ran in the trainers I race in and the difference from my junk mile trainers ?which have about 600 miles on them) is astounding. I just assumed I ran slower after work as I was tired- seems the real issue is my trainers were knackered. Worlds apart.
So they are going in the bin!

464.72

KeyserSophie · 15/12/2015 05:49

Got to guess a bit as my Suunto couldnt find GPS and then I forgot to start it on the way home but approx 7 miles today in recovery runs to and from the gym to make 471.72.

emummy and runto I envy you your snow. Looks gorgeous. Runto- Killian Jornet actually does mostly ski touring and cross country skiing as training for trail running, so I imagine it's very effective.

lastqueen I used to run to the gym in my lifters, just to save having to carry another pair of shoes but I just felt so ploddy in them, so bought a running rucksack and wear my proper runners now- makes a massive difference. I chucked my trail shoes after my race on Saturday. The foam is totally compressed (love Hokas but they dont last 5 minutes) but, more critically, they stink to a level which is socially unacceptable, even by trail runner standards.

KeyserSophie · 15/12/2015 05:49

New total not v clear

471.72

fromheretomaternity · 15/12/2015 21:12

New to this thread - about to start training for a half marathon. What are the numbers???

emummy · 15/12/2015 21:20

Welcome fromheretomaternity! The numbers are the running total in miles for the month. If you like, every time you do a run, no matter how long or short, you can post on here and add your miles to the total.
Good luck with the training. When is your race? Is it your first half?

cinnamongreyhound · 16/12/2015 00:03

That is amazing KeyserSophie!

Well done on a faster 10k lastqueenofscotland! I have new trail shoes and trainers for Christmas can't wait to wear them, always nice and springy.

Glad you're feeling better suzannecaravaggio, impressive test run.

Wsh we had snow instead of rain! I nearly slipped over twice today and we don't usually get mud here as the soil is so sandy. Felt good running and helped me destress until I got back to a screaming ds3 and stroppy dh Sad 475.72

fromheretomaternity · 16/12/2015 06:23

Thanks emummy! First ever half marathon - did a (slow) 10k this year but this is quite a step up. It's in May. Not naturally athletic and turned into a bit of a couch potato after the 10k was done so I have a lot of work to do! Right now just starting getting into a 3x a week routine but distances still very short. Looking forward to treating myself to some nice winter running gear in the sales!

Purpletoes · 16/12/2015 07:26

Emummy that photo is lovely. Only had mizzly rain to run in last night!

Fromheretomaternity welcome 1st half will be quite an achievement. I have a 10 mile race booked for end of January but no half on cards yet.

6.45 from me last night. Club run first one in 3 weeks due to various circumstances. We did the local killer hill. Legs feeling it this morning!

482.17

Anglaise1 · 16/12/2015 07:38

Welcome fromhertomarernity you've got plenty of time until your HM so don't worry about not doing long distances yet. Try and get in a couple more 10k races before if you can as they will help your race pace and stamina.
Congrats on your races Last and Keyser - your friend is amazing with her 7th overall place for the 100k!
Suzanne I hope your virus has completely disappeared now.
Runto well done on getting your thesis finished, you can enjoy Christmas now! Xmas Envy of the snow you and emummy are having, it is mild and wet here, 14°C for the club training session last night.
Official marathon training plan for Barcelona starts 28th Dec, don't like the plan my coach has done as lots of speedwork and not one long slow 3 hour run which are my favourites, but it is only for 2 months. Not sure the dog will like it much either.
57.5 miles to add from the last week.
539.67

HalleLouja · 16/12/2015 09:29

14.6 miles done since last Thursday makes 554.27.

Had a super lovely club run last night then went out and didn't get much sleep.

.

Today I have a sports massage for tight calves and then tomorrow intervals again with my coach. Another chance to feel sick whilst running.

lastqueenofscotland · 16/12/2015 12:19

3.1 from me yesterday. Sick as a dog today so no running for me!

557.37

emummy · 16/12/2015 12:24

Oh no lastqueen! Hope you get better soon. There is a sickness bug doing the rounds here now, am hoping we avoid it. Hope you are getting looked after
