FlowersWine Excellent lastqueen! Marathons are addictive. I'm so pleased you enjoyed it! Did you get the time you wanted?

cinnamongreyhound · 24/04/2016 20:31

Fabulous lastqueenofscotland!

Well done Anglaise1 and emummy!

Lovely reasonably speedy run today before a trip to the zoo Smile 687.2

HalleLouja · 25/04/2016 10:45

Well done last queen and anyone else racing.

3.1 miles to add from parkrun, had a sensible week..... 690.3.

lastqueenofscotland · 25/04/2016 12:46

Has anyone ever had a post marathon comedown?

yesterday was the most amazing day, and now i feel really sad it's over?! I've entered another in September but i know it won't be the same as London.

Am i a weirdo?!

Purpletoes · 25/04/2016 19:05

Lastqueen not at all I think that's normal. Glad you had a great experience.

I have 16 to add today. I had a brilliant day running with 401 Ben. It was delayed quite a bit by his interview on radio 2 this morning so we didn't set off till 1130. Stayed with him till lunch had lunch then ran a little more just so I could say I ran my longest distance ever with him. The pace was sedate and everyone was so friendly.
I would highly recommend running with him if he is anywhere local to you. An inspiring guy.

Ps lastqueen most runners even if it doesn't go well are mostly like this!

Running thread part 8
lastqueenofscotland · 25/04/2016 19:13

I googled it and apparently it is normal as you end up on an endorphin and adrenaline crash, it's the oddest feeling I feel actually bereft. I've cried about it today Blush

Anglaise1 · 25/04/2016 19:47

My race highs usually last a day but a marathon a little longer. But it is normal to have a post marathon depression, you have done all that training, the high of the race, it is normal. I only stop running a day then get back out there, I love running so much that it helps just to do that. And then sign up for a HM or weeks after the marathon, you will do your best time ever with all the training still in your legs, plus a HM is a piece of cake after a marathon.
I've just signed up for a 76km race, 1500m ascent in the Languedoc south of France in October. Start time 5am. I don't think I'll be doing a marathon before then. It is important to have goals, that is mine for the end of the year, then possibly the Seville marathon in mid February with some friends in the club.

Anglaise1 · 25/04/2016 19:53

Correction my October race is 3500m ascent. Easy for Keyser but here in Brittany it is very flat so I'm not used to climbing!

lastqueenofscotland · 25/04/2016 20:03

Thanks Anglaise, I'm going for a 5k with a friend tomorrow. I've entered a half in three weeks that I hope will help.
I hoped th high might last longer.

KeyserSophie · 26/04/2016 00:31

OMG Anglaise That's going to be pretty brutal. I have no doubts you'll smash it, but I reckon the hardest thing for you will be doing a race where the big climbs are not runnable (or at least I don't think they can be as there must be some big steep ones to make up that sort of elevation over that distance).

lastqueen You don't have to say your time, but can you at least let me know if you beat your mum? Grin.

Glad you had fun with 401 Ben purpletoes. Not sure he's coming to Hong Kong unfortunately.

Adding 2 miles from a one way gym commute yesterday. I made the "interesting" decision to run it in my lifters (basically trainers with no cushioning and stacked heels) to save taking another pair of shoes. Big mistake. I must have looked ridiculous.

lastqueenofscotland · 26/04/2016 07:00

Keyser i missed mums time by not very much... But I've surprised myself in that I really didn't care haha... I'm doing another in September so I'll have to go for it a bit then Grin

lastqueenofscotland · 26/04/2016 20:49

3.2 as part of the finish for David thing that people are doing
711.5

cinnamongreyhound · 26/04/2016 21:28

That was so me purpletoes!

I can imagine it must be tough lastqueenofscotland, i can imagine it's been such a big part of your life for quite a while now.

4 miles with the dogs this evening 712.3

cinnamongreyhound · 26/04/2016 21:29

No idea how I x posts there but 715.5

Anglaise1 · 27/04/2016 18:06

My marathon high usually lasts a week but that's largely due to running with a club and, the congratulations and recounting the whole race to people who run and are interested in hearing how it went.
27.25 to add from the last 3 days. We are missing Suzanne's miles, I hope she is OK it has been a while since she last posted on this thread Sad
742.75

cinnamongreyhound · 27/04/2016 21:37

You're right Anglaise1, did she say she was taking a break?

KeyserSophie · 28/04/2016 00:50

last queen well done and you've got years to achieve family glory! Whilst it's flat VLM probably isn't the best marathon course for a PB as most people seem to run at least another 0.5mies in "weaving" or at least not following the blue line.

You're right Anglaise1, did she say she was taking a break?

From running or from MN? The latter I can believe (although I exempt the running thread from my "breaks"), the former I can't Grin

Adding 6.5ish (wasn't wearing my watch) from last night- ran from work and then over the famous "Violet Hill and the Twins". Tough and hot but glad I got out

749.25

HalleLouja · 28/04/2016 10:01

Keyser I think I saw Suzanne on a completely different fred this week.

3ish miles to add from my hills session yesterday makes 752.25.

Purpletoes · 28/04/2016 19:47

Hi sneaky 3.1 miles from me on way home from work before picking up the kids. Nice to have run done before childrens bedtime Smile

755.35

lastqueenofscotland · 28/04/2016 20:30

Keyser I think you're right I ran 26.7 according to my garmin and I had to grind to near a halt at the bottle necks in places. I've booked another for the autumn Grin
6.4 on the run home tonight. My legs just don't go fast at the moment!
561.75

cinnamongreyhound · 28/04/2016 22:36

Another 4 on my own tonight, dozy big dog has injured another pad 🙈 565.75

cinnamongreyhound · 29/04/2016 09:18

Accompanied run this morning but my legs felt that I'd been last night! 569.75

Anglaise1 · 29/04/2016 09:24

My Garmin always over measures the marathons I've done, but I think it is down the the GPS accuracy not the zigzagging. At Barcelona it was very easy to run and my Garmin still measured at least 800m more for the race.
10 to add from yesterday
579.75

HalleLouja · 29/04/2016 13:53

6.5 to add from the last few days makes 586.25.
