interesting stats whowouldfardel we have dropped off after the January enthusiasm and no plateaued at just under 1600 miles/month, I'm thinking that's down to people leaving the thread since most of us probably have a pretty consistent monthly mileage?

11.6 from me

  • 104.3 = 115.9
MyBlackCat · 03/08/2015 18:12

I've never run a marathon, I've entered the London ballot four times now without success, hopefully next year. I know there are loads of others but I only plan to do one and want to make it a good one!

5.1 miles from me, had to go to doctors, DH took me and I ran back home Smile

Lagoonablue · 03/08/2015 18:12

Thanks Louey

cinnamongreyhound · 03/08/2015 20:38

Hi MyBlackCat, come and check out our parkrun thread too Smile

Thank you all for the support, you guys are great!

Yay for sorting your gi problems Anglaise1. Any trophy is a trophy however ugly Wink

Good news on pb poppyshakespeare Grin

Canicross club run without my doggies Sad tonight. Enjoyed it but felt very guilty! 126

KeyserSophie · 04/08/2015 03:21

myblackcat I've requested an international place for London 2016. I ran it before in 2008 on a charity place with Mencap. I've never been so proud to be from London- the crowd is amazing. That said, the ballot is 1/16 chance now, so if you really want to do it and reckon you can get the sponsorship, I'd aim for a charity place. I was lucky because my work has a matching scheme up to 1000 quid and at the time I worked in the city so had lots of rich co-workers to hit up for cash Grin.

Anglaise1 · 04/08/2015 08:28

5 not-very-fast recuperation miles to add from yesterday evening.

4 easy miles in the rain this morning - I knew the sunshine wouldn't last!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 04/08/2015 10:40

Grin TriJo anyone who knew me in my 20's would only be able to imagine me doing a marathon or a triathlon with a glass in one hand and a cigarette in the other. I spent my 30s with young children and a hectic job, abd only found time for proper exercise in my 40s.
To be fair I have always done some form of mild exercise but nothing very serious-tennis, swimming, a dabble in martial arts, gym etc, and because DH is quite sporty, and we have two very sporty teenagers I have always had a good incentive, and support, to do something.
Suzanne my June total was under half my normal monthly total thanks to heat, travel and lack of enthusiasmSmile

I can't remember who mentioned trying to run 1000 km in a year. I started this year with the goal of 1000 miles but am not going to achieve it, have revised down to 1000 km which I think is achievable.
Well done on the ugly trophy AnglaiseGrin
Hello all other runners. Will stop now as am on my phone and can't scroll back and post will be full of errors. But not before adding 2.5 hilly miles last nightSmile

familygermsareok · 04/08/2015 11:27

Thanks Louey, I will add that to my post-run stretches.
I want to find out if I enjoy long runs before I try a marathon, it's kind of the wrong way round, but I don't want to make running into a chore as I love it and dont want to lose that enjoyment. My longest so far is 15.5 miles but I've had to cut back during school hols as I am time limited. I'm going to increase distances once school starts again as I have 2 free mornings most weeks.
Don't know if I would like a big crowded one in a major city though, I'm not keen on busy places and lots of people, although I imagine the atmosphere and support would be incredible. I quite like the idea of a smaller country one like Coniston, around the lakes. Does that count as abroad for me? Wink

Congratulations on trophy Anglaise, have some Flowers to prettify it Smile. Great that GI probs were better, long may it last.

Well done on PB poppy, hope all continues to improve Smile

Welcome Myblackcat.

4.6 easy run with DS1 this morning, Achilles much improved after 2 days of rest and diligent icing and eccentric loading so should be fine for hm on Sat.

familygermsareok · 04/08/2015 11:30

135 + 2.5 from OhOne + 4.6 from me = 142.1

Anglaise1 · 04/08/2015 20:39

Family Coniston is definitely abroad for you Wink. But don't underestimate the need for crowd support, atmosphere and general festivities to boost your marathon. I love the countryside, I love trail races, but I loved doing a marathon in a big city (apart from the pit stop problem!). The atmosphere was fabulous, the build up, the number of competitors, the incredible feeling of being part of something big, not to mention seeing the beautiful sites. I'm sure you would find it easier to do a good time too in a city. It isn't boring, there is plenty to see and the crowd cheering and shouting your name (if you have yours on your dossard as I did) is something else.
12.3 from me today, club run plus dog run
154.4

Adding an approximate 10 miles from me (forgot to unpause Suunto after a short Percy Pig break). Did a new route over the mega-hilly 5k, and then back around by the contour trail which is half catchwater, so paved, and half technical traill, and then home on the road. Quite a lot of swearing on the technical part- really tough on a rocky, uphill incline in the dark, not so much due to effort as that rocky trails are so much less forgiving uphill than downhill- lots of stumbles. It was also a bit scary being alone in the dark with the bushes rustling.

Total is 164.4

I totaled my YTD after ohones comment- usually I just look at my running average and try to keep it near 50k. Have done 900 miles so far, so should hit 1500 for the year as I'll probably start increasing mileage from September through to the end of the year as it's the race season and it'll cool down. This rather begs the question, why arent I thin yet? I refer myself to earlier comment re Percy Pig breaks Grin

Neeko · 05/08/2015 06:46

Sneaking on to add 3.75. My first on two weeks. I just haven't felt like it. Forced myself today and enjoyed it but could really feel I hadn't been out in a while.

168.15

sassytheFIRST · 05/08/2015 08:00

I'm on holiday in Devon this week. So far I've run twice - one 4 miler and one much longer cos I got lost! Probably about 8 miles - far and away the furthest I've ever run even if it was by accident! Legs are tired today! Beautiful place to run tho with the sea one side and a lake on the other.

Anglaise1 · 05/08/2015 12:01

7 miles from me this morning, off for an overnight stay in the UK to pick up my kids and eat fish and chips for the first time in 3 years.

  • 176.15 = 187.75

my YTD is 1,208, I might increase a little when the weather cools, but I'm just making it up as I go along really.

Enjoy the fish and chips Anglaise :o
Sassy, I have many good memories of Devon, north and south, I hope you're having a great holiday :)

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 05/08/2015 19:10

Some really impressive totals Sophie and SuzanneGrin Well done!
7.45 absolutely gorgeous miles-coastal path out, mainly fields back.
Enjoy your fish and chips Anglaise! Smile

MyBlackCat · 05/08/2015 19:29

Some of you run miles - I'm a little bit jealous Smile

3.2 miles covered in an interval session on a treadmill so v boring.

PoppyShakespeare · 05/08/2015 21:04

6.5 from me and spaniel on club trail run, considering how much walking our group did am v pleased with our time of 1:12

but where is the latest total?

FlukeSkyeRunner · 05/08/2015 21:49

Just back from a fab holiday in Scotland - plenty of walking and sea kayaking but no running, its just a bit hilly where we were Blush

Ran about 3 miles tonight (gps went crazy so I don't know exactly...), nice and slow to ease me back in!

lastqueenofscotland · 05/08/2015 22:15

I keep meaning to say it is not far from kimmi's due date-anyone heard from her?

Purpletoes · 06/08/2015 00:34

Hi 5.5 from me on Tuesday. Club run was nice but I think our runs through the park will soon be over in the evenings getting dark again.

Heading to Ireland tomorrow with the kids so hoping to get some long runs in with all the family wanting to spend time with them!

Been a bit manic today trying to pack and get ready especially as DD has begun to crawl and is getting stuck in everywhere.

Am impressed by everyone's mileage.

221.63

KeyserSophie · 06/08/2015 03:04

Well dont be too impressed- my youngest child is now 3 and when she'd just started crawling I was a stranger to my trainers Grin. I'm always v impressed with people who maintain any sort of running/ exercise regime through pregnancy and the first year, especially when they have older DC as well. With DS I was quite good as we'd just moved countries and I wasnt working so I was "full time pregnant" and used to exercise every day. With DD I was back at work and sick as a dog. i dont think I even made it to pregnancy yoga.

cinnamongreyhound · 06/08/2015 09:04

4 early morning miles minus dogs still this morning with my running buddy who's trying to get back her fitness after her pgce, so no walking breaks 225.63
