I need huge toe box too yet insist on buying same shoes which toes end up coming through ages before any wear on the sole (superstitious)

has anyone seen my Garmin charger Sad

HalleLouja · 20/07/2015 10:18

Thanks Neeko Grin.

Anglaise1 · 20/07/2015 11:29

Sorry Poppy haven't seen your charger!
Phlebas Poppy I have bunions and need a huge toebox, one of the reasons I started Mizuno was because they have a very wide fitting (unlike Asics). Waverider 18.
Congrats on your PB triathlon Trijo. I'd love to do one, no problem for running or cycling but swimming needs a lot of work I only ever swim breastroke which won't do at all
9.4 miles from a difficult run in the valleys with my friend this morning, lots of hills and descents which I love. And not too hot.

Hi everyone. I've not been around much due to enforced rest from running. But I did 4.4 miles last night and very nice it was too. I will be very happy when I can comfortably run 5 miles a couple of times a week and do a longer run at the weekend. Midterm target: 10 miles.

DH is away a lot this week and I'll be shuttling DS between various child carers but I'm hoping to get out a couple more times.

Poppy have you looked where you last plugged it in? Perhaps someone unplugged it and cast it carelessly to one side out of sight?

suzannecanthecan · 20/07/2015 15:03

11.43 from me

  • 951.8 = 963.23
suzannecanthecan · 20/07/2015 15:11

I hope you find your charger Poppy, sure you can buy them separately but not sure how sensible the price is.

My garmin 210 charger broke and I fixed it with a clamp and some elastic bands, stupid thing never worked very well and my intervention has improved it!

I've been slow lately Halle, might be the humidity?

Today I felt distinctly lackluster/overtrained and nearly cut it short. But about 6 miles in I felt a bit more positive and decided to just slow right down and take it really easy.

PoppyShakespeare · 20/07/2015 15:20

would get new one (£15, not end of world?) but increasingly watch not holding its charge (220) where it was once fantastically long lived

am toying with idea of living without one for a while, not as if am running far or very often

suzannecanthecan · 20/07/2015 15:38

am toying with idea of living without one for a while

aka 'running naked' Shock Shock

PoppyShakespeare · 20/07/2015 15:39

yes!

it's a weird feeling, ever tried it?

PoppyShakespeare · 20/07/2015 15:43

one of Matt Fitzgerald's books bangs on for pages and pages about benefits of running without a Garmin, something mindfulness or running by feel or something

am going to pretend I'm doing that on purpose

suzannecanthecan · 20/07/2015 15:44

noooo, I'd have nothing to put in my spreadsheet when I got homeShock
I need to be able to look at charts and graphs or I just dont feel validatedBlush

suzannecanthecan · 20/07/2015 15:46

wot next eh!
dont tell me he also advocates running without podcasts :o

PoppyShakespeare · 20/07/2015 15:48

Grin I feel that hunger for data!

have never been able to listen to stuff while running though (or anything really), tried it in the past but no

don't think I have enough brain for the two separate activities but luckily am endlessly entertained by own thoughts

familygermsareok · 20/07/2015 20:41

I sometimes deliberately keep my Garmin on watch only to stop me getting too obsessed with time/pace as I stop enjoying the actual running then. Only on well known routes as I feel a need to know what distance I have done.
Never thought about it as running naked though! Grin

Well done on PB TriJo, that's great Smile

3.3 this evening, lovely unexpected social chatty run with friend.

963.23 + 3.3 = 966.53

lastqueenofscotland · 20/07/2015 21:03

5.03 at an ok pace. Horribly humid though

cinnamongreyhound · 20/07/2015 21:36

Sounds like a fab holiday runtothehills!

Hope you get it sorted soon KeyserSophie!

Sucks about your calf LornMowa Sad

Well done TriJo!!

How can you be sure you've run if you haven't worn a garmin PoppyShakespere Wink

5.5 canicross miles today, quite slow as it was hot and muggy and some of the dogs were struggling 977.06

suzannecanthecan · 20/07/2015 21:42

Humid isnt it just, I used to pay very little attention to the weather forecast except in regards to temperature and the likelihood of precipitation.

now I study hourly changes in humidity, cloud cover, wind speed and direction

TriJo · 20/07/2015 23:36

The run I wanted tonight was around 5 miles very easy by myself listening to something good on Spotify to soothe my brain after doing my driver theory test this evening. I got 3 miles hard trying to keep up with my husband while my legs were screaming at me from my race yesterday. Oh well...

980.06

Anglaise1 · 21/07/2015 19:33

Poppy I did a PB for my last HM even though my Garmin decided to stop after 2kms. Yes, I read that Matt Fitzgerald book too. I think I've read all his now!
10 miles from me today, 3 with the dog and 7 tempo miles with the few of us that were at the club session tonight. Most French people take at least a 3 week break in the summer so our numbers are very reduced at the moment. And no coach. It was nice, not too hot and a nice cool wind.

5 miles tonight with my club social run with doggies mostly off lead. Warmer than last night I think but more pleasant, less humid. 995.06

AnnPerkins · 21/07/2015 21:43

3.5 miles before picking up DS. Planned to do four but the heat and thirst got the better of me. I much prefer running in the evenings when it's cooler but DH is away this week so I have to get it where I can. I have my running mojo back and I want to keep the momentum going.

Purpletoes · 21/07/2015 22:49

6 from me today. Run to club club run and run home. I really enjoyed it tonight was cooler and can feel my pace quickening so that's good.

Need to organise times for my other runs this week. The summer seems to be flying by!
Mine and Anne's added to totals.

8.03 from me felt tough and sore but trying to push through it for now!

KeyserSophie · 22/07/2015 02:45

an easy 6.3 on the treadmill from me makes 1018.86

emummy · 22/07/2015 09:30

Week 4 of hm training, so 40 minute easy run. Staying at dm's so was a bit of a random route as I didn't really know where I was going!
