Sounds good Anglaise, freedom to run when you want and no coach around to tell you off for running every day Wink

Total of 8.14 from me this morning. Firstly a mix of intervals and hill sprints then a 3 mile easy paced social run with friend.
DS1 now wants me to go out again with him but my legs are knackered so he has gone himself.

1018.86 + 8.14 = 1027 (nicely rounded Smile )

familygermsareok · 22/07/2015 09:34

Oops, x post, 1031 ( but still nicely rounded Smile )

Random runs can be fun!

TriJo · 22/07/2015 10:26

Outdoor core strength work in the park next to our apartment with hubby last night, 6.4km run afterwards to make my brain shut up.

1035

holmessweetholmes · 22/07/2015 15:45

Hello all - have returned to marvel at all your impressive runs. I was supposed to di my first hm back in early June, which I pulled out of due to illness and then got a suspected stress fracture in my foot.

Foot is ok now and I've been for a couple of tentative walk-jogs in the last week just to ease myself back in. Not going to be contributing much to your mileage totals for a while though!

suzannecanthecan · 22/07/2015 16:04

11.6 from me

  • 1035 = 1046.6

Sorry to hear about the suspected fracture Holmes:(
can you get an xray or something so that you have a proper diagnosis?

*disclaimer, I have no experience or knowledge of stress fractures

suzannecanthecan · 22/07/2015 16:04

(where is Aggressivebunting these days?)

oh!
I must try and keep upBlush
thanks CinnamonWink

Anglaise1 · 22/07/2015 19:42

Holmes so good to see you back. Sorry about your injury and missing your HM, I hope you get a proper diagnosis so you know exactly what you have and what running you can do.
Suzanne yes, do keep up Wink
6.2 miles today, just me and Sam-the-Border-Collie. Much cooler too.

Nice to see you Holmes, hope you can get back into it soon without too many arguments from your foot.

I'm feeling really jealous of all of you doing long runs at the moment. My fitness has def tailed off in the last month (I've only really run once a week and only 5k since the beginning of July) and it's very annoying to feel like I've gone backwards. Can't wait to have a bit more time to get back into training properly and lose this half a stone I've put on Hmm

lastqueenofscotland · 22/07/2015 21:50

Just 2.5 from me today. Really planned to do six but felt so so so awful from the moment I stepped out the door I made myself run to a particular land mark and brisk walked the other 3.5!

emummy · 23/07/2015 09:17

Hill session today. Cut short the warm up to 5 minutes as it started pouring and it was cold! My hands were tingling and hurting! Still did the hills though. Am staying at mum's just now near Glasgow, looking forward to going home to Aberdeenshire tomorrow for some nice warm rain!

Anglaise1 · 23/07/2015 09:42

10 miles today with a friend, 1h10 at 9kph the last 20mins or so at 13kph. Gorgeous sunny morning, only 14°C and a heavy dew so wet feet from the footpaths.
emummy sorry about the cold rain, it sounds miserable. On the subject of Glasgow, the (French) daughter of a friend of mine is going to be spending 6 months there from September, would you or your mum have any idea of the best place to look for cheap accommodation for that period of time?

holmessweetholmes · 23/07/2015 10:16

Thanks for the welcome back and sympathy! I have a tendency to get this when I really push it distance-wise. I suspect it is a very minor stress fracture. It gets better in about 6 weeks, and then I'm good to go, as long as I build up slowly. I'm just at the beginning now - two little jogs and no twinges so far. Doing some fell walking today, so won't try another jog for a few days.

emummy · 23/07/2015 10:28

Oh gosh Anglaise I'm afraid we're of no use to you! Mum has no idea and I haven't lived here for 25 years! You could try posting on Scotsnet, I'm sure someone would have some ideas. Sorry! And I'm only mildly jealous of your nice weather - looking out the window now it's nice and sunny, sigh.

Anglaise1 · 23/07/2015 10:41

You are doing the right thing taking it easy, Holmes.
Thanks emummy I'll try posting on Scotsnet.
Did anyone see this rubbish in the Daily Wail yesterday (I know I know it was in the sidebar of shame), about an expat woman living in France who claims everyone is wildly jealous of her figure. At one point in the article she says "I exercise for two hours each day. First I run 15 miles, then I walk my dogs for an hour. I have to buy new trainers every three months - I'm so fit and focused on running."
Yeah right, so she runs 15 miles a day in an hour?? She doesn't look like she runs even 15 miles a week.

OP posts:
suzannecanthecan · 23/07/2015 10:58

She does have pretty good calves I'll give her that Anglaise, other than that pretty lean but a little saggy, good for her age.
however she'd have to be the bionic woman to run at 15mph

The fail seems to do this sort of article regularly ?

suzannecanthecan · 23/07/2015 11:06

but I notice that her derriere looks flat, is that inevitable once you get over 50?
doesnt running work your glutesConfused

TriJo · 23/07/2015 11:19

Zersenay Tadese ran 58 minutes ish for the half marathon world record. That article is painfully full of shit.

Anglaise1 · 23/07/2015 11:30

Yes TriJo she is an attention seeker and professional liar I think!
Suzanne apparently it is only speedwork that works your glutes, if she really ran at 15mph she would probably have a much less flat derriere.

OP posts:
suzannecanthecan · 23/07/2015 11:37

no hope for my poor slow arse then!

PoppyShakespeare · 23/07/2015 13:00

58 minutes for a half! That's pretty much my lifetime PB for 10k and haven't done one in under an hour since 2006 Blush

TriJo · 23/07/2015 14:17

In fairness, it's only people like super-fast Eritreans, Ethiopians, Kenyans and Mo Farah that can get anywhere near that! Women's WR is just outside 1:05.

Hoping to have a crack at a sub-50 10k later this year, got close a few years ago but no cigar (50:05 PB Angry ).

Loueytb3 · 23/07/2015 14:53

You know it’s a while since you've posted when the thread disappears from "Threads I'm on" Blush

This half term has been brutal, but the DCs finally broke up yesterday so I have a bit of breathing space at last. They are at the CMs in the holidays while I'm at work so my life actually gets simpler.

Still managing to run, and have got a place in the Abingdon marathon in October which I'm wildly excited about. DH, less so. Will try and be a bit better at posting. In the meantime, adding in my contribution (since 1st July) which should bump up the monthly figure a tad Grin

118.52 + 1061.2 = 1179.72

Purpletoes · 23/07/2015 15:07

That article is just rubbish I do wonder where the Fail finds these people!

3.8 from me today as my lovely mil came to watch the lo for me. Need to concentrate on upping distance for my 10k in September.
Hoping to do it in sub 70. We shall see! I have another booked for November so I can improve! Wink anglaise your runs sound lovely.
I definitely think I prefer wood trail running to road as I don't find it as hard to stay out longer it's just more interesting.

Holmes hope you recover smoothly.
Suzanne my bum is massive hoping running will calm it down a bit! BlushConfused I have typical short legs and big bum and boobs! I am sure I am a sight when running! Smile
