11.32 from me

  • 792.20 =803.52

shoes-I am rotating 4 pairs currently none of which have 500 miles on.
I have a decommissioned pair with over 500 miles on but I retired them because I thought the drop was behind the pita, then again it might have been because I'd used up all the bounceConfused

suzannecanthecan · 18/07/2015 20:58

Poppy re treadmills, when I used to run in the gym it always seemed hotter than outdoors, I suppose at least in part because of the lack of outdoor breeze?

PoppyShakespeare · 18/07/2015 21:29

I found the whole dripping with sweat thing very exciting, like for once in my life I'd worked HARD Grin

standingonlego · 18/07/2015 23:23

7.2 miles at the monument run...gorgeous scenery with a killer climb!

Takes us to 752.9

Oh rats - cross post, revise that to
810.75

Purpletoes · 19/07/2015 08:03

So it's 4 from me yesterday. Went for a quick run before OH went to tennis club for the day as it was club finals day. The kids and I joined him later. My 3 year old DS ran around non stop all day with some friends and I had a relaxing chat/wine with friends and babies! She has a DD just 2 days older than mine.

Currently lying in bed with DD in sidecar cot and DS snuck in at 630. Both of them blissfully asleep. OH came home late and is in spare room. Wondering if I get up and have a peaceful alone coffee will that wake the kids!

814.75

emummy · 19/07/2015 09:29

7.15 miles from me, off road, hilly and absolutely pouring with rain! Got completely soaked but the actual run went well.
821.9

LaughingM · 19/07/2015 09:41

Gosh I haven't posted for a while - running has had to take a bit of a backseat this month with the end of term and a big deadline coming up. I've been trying to get out just for 5k twice a week to keep myself ticking over but even that has been a bit of a challenge. Really found it hard when I went out yesterday (although it was midday and very warm) so I must try and keep going as I would hate to loose any more fitness!

So adding all my July miles so far 833.9

Anglaise1 · 19/07/2015 11:22

Not missing the kids yet, lovely club run this morning (OH didn't mind at all!) there are just a few of us as most people are on holiday.
Weather still humid but generally cooler, so very pleasant. I had to buy another pair of running shoes in the sales as my new pair for the marathon in March are now my only serviceable ones, the others have all fallen apart. I'm sticking with Mizuno Waverider over Asics Nimbus now, they seem to suit me better, and they are also cheaper.
11.9 from this morning, 3.1 from yesterday
848.9

No running from me this weekend but hopefully a canicross run tomorrow evening Smile

Impressive standinonlego!!

Sounds lovely purpletoes Smile

Love shoe talk but they have become a standing birthday present now so will have to wait a few months!

It's because you don't have air passing over you to dry it as it forms poppyshakespere! I find when I go on the club social run and we have regular stops I get so hot and sweaty so quickly then start to cool off again as we get moving.

standingonlego · 19/07/2015 12:53

I power-walked staggered up the hills cinnamon Wink

KeyserSophie · 19/07/2015 13:03

did 16k of trail on Saturday but there was a lot of hiking as was a group thing, so only prob ran/ powered up 6 of the 10 miles to make 855. Ears still bad. Saw the ENT guy today as last week's smorgasbord of pharma products made no difference. Got another load so fingers crossed. Main problem is my balance goes intermittently and I feel sick- threw up before we even started running yesterday and then again half way through.

runtothehills · 19/07/2015 16:51

Hi all. Phlebas nice to hear from you again, glad to hear recovery is going well. Anglaise 3 weeks will seem strange but think some positive running and occasional Skype will help Smile.

I'm at the end of a lovely family holiday camping for 4 days in the Lakes and then 3 days down in Hampshire visiting friends. Have a total of 36 miles to add from this week which included a quick run before we left home, 3 lovely fell runs in the Lakes which included a bit of fell race tourism doing a local evening club race which had 800m of ascent in 1 1/2 miles, reminded me of your HK steps Keyser. Finished with a couple of lovely runs in the New Forest. Weather has been fantastic but has been hard work in the heat, especially todays midday 10 miler. Though your rain soaked run emummy is making me count our holiday weather blessings.

Have also indulged in a bit of holiday shopping too and now am the proud owner of a pair of Inov8 Mudclaws which have the most amazing lugs (grips) on the bottom. Just need to get them a bit dirty, too shiny at the moment!

Anglaise1 · 19/07/2015 17:33

Keyser I hope you get your ears sorted out. The balance problem you are having sounds awful Sad. Runtothehills it sounds like you had a great holiday in the lakes with some exceptional runs, I'm very jealous.
I forgot to say I saw a sports doctor about my gastro problems and she said to go on a strict non residue diet (usually recommended for Crohn's disease and colon cancer patients) for 3 days before a race. Either ham and pasta, ham and rice and a little Gruyère cheese. Nothing else Shock.
I think my problems may have been due the almonds I eat to excess and the vinagrette I put on lettuce (I eat a LOT of lettuce) that have been causing problems as both are strictly forbidden, as are raw fruit and most vegetables. I might try and eat this diet all the time as this slightly less restrictive version is quite do-able.

suzannecanthecan · 19/07/2015 17:52

Thats interesting Anglaise and certainly worth a try, even if the 'lite' version doesnt take the problem away it may alleviate it and you can weight up the pro's and cons of following a stricter version.

Just knowing that there are measures that you can take to help can make you feel a bit more in control and less at the mercy of gut problems.
Good luck I hope it helps:)

Anglaise1 · 19/07/2015 18:08

Suzanne yes, it will be interesting to see if it works. I'll let you know, I'm planning on trying it before my next trail race in a couple of weeks.
It surprised me that even the French 'lite' version of the diet is different and more restrictive than the UK and US versions. Although the French version allows chocolate, the UK and US versions don't. Maybe because most French chocolate is dark and not made with cocoa powder which isn't the case with milk chocolate?

6.6 from me I can't wait for it to cool down. Spending the rest if the day in the garden with abook and some beer! 897.6
Going to try and really go for it for the few weeks leading up to my holiday as I'll be a lazy sod for 5 days then

LornMowa · 19/07/2015 18:59

Just adding my Parkrun of 3.1. Might be all I can add for a while as I have triggered my calf problem again - grrrrr.

900.7

familygermsareok · 19/07/2015 20:47

Sounds like a lovely day purpletoes. I hope you got your peaceful coffee.
Impressive ascents lego and runtothehills! Sounds like a fab holiday too Smile
Hope your ears get better soon Keyser, sounds miserable.
Anglaise that is really interesting about the low residue diet. I hope it helps you.

13.39 this afternoon with DS1. He has been wanting to do a hm distance as part of a Strava challenge so we went off with a plan to take it nice and easy, plenty of rests and a route with several 'escape' loops if we needed to cut it short. So much for my plan, he practically out ran me on the up hills, only stopped to let cars past and for my toilet stop and then a brief tactical decision on route to make sure we got the distance. I am so proud of him Grin
900.7 + 13.39 = 914.09

familygermsareok · 19/07/2015 20:52

Oh yes, and does anyone have any advice re how to avoid stitches? DS1 seems to get them a lot on downhill stretches although not on flats or ups. We have variously tried slowing down, stopping and stretching, breathing slowly and deeply. He just runs through them now and they usually ease once the downhill is over. I don't really get stitches much so didn't know what else to suggest.

suzannecanthecan · 19/07/2015 21:44

sorry no idea Family
as I kid I used to get a stitch all the time dont remember ever having it as an adultConfused

TriJo · 19/07/2015 23:57

Sprint tri PB today \o/

Agonisingly close to my sub-25 off the bike too (25:07 run split, 1:26:17 overall, 29th lady/15th in combined 20-39 AG). Absolutely chuffed overall though, almost a 4 minute PB!

917.19

HalleLouja · 20/07/2015 09:11

8.3 miles over the weekend to add. Seriously slow this weekend. Am hoping its due to me coming down with a cold as was getting faster....

Well done TriJo.

Neeko · 20/07/2015 09:26
