I want to ask MN to create a topic for yoga. Would you be interested to share ideas, tips, and achievements in our practice on a Yoga topic?

  1. I think the more use the mat gets the less slippy it is. Practice and all is coming :-)
CoteDAzur · 21/05/2015 19:50

Actually, we are now 37 including MNers who showed their support on [[http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?call=ThreadsImOn Site Stuff]] but didn't come on to this thread Smile

Link fail! Our thread on Site Stuff. If you haven't already, lease go & post there to let MNHQ know you support this new topic.

Trills · 21/05/2015 20:40

There are enough topics already and no bugger uses them, so everything ends up in AIBU.

If there are this many people who want to talk about Yoga then the Sports topic would be a perfectly good place to go, and it's not so busy that yoga-related threads would get lots.

CoteDAzur · 21/05/2015 20:50

Thanks for writing this not only here but also on the Site Stuff thread, Trills.

As I replied there:

We would like a place where we can pool our resources and experience, have multiple threads about different kids of yoga (hatha, vinyasa, ashtanga, bikram, iyengar, kundalini, yin yoga, etc) as well as pilates and tai chi. Where we can talk about our physical challenges and ask for advice. Where we can post photos of our progression and encourage each other to do better.

A community, in other words.

Going to add my hearty YES PLEASE in both places. More a pilates gal than yoga, but really need to get back into the regular practice and would be great to have an MN boost.

ladydepp · 21/05/2015 23:01

Me too please, I love yoga and Pilates and the latter has been the saviour of my dodgy back....

Please remember to post your support on the Site Stuff thread where we are asking MNHQ to create a Yoga, Pilates & Tai Chi topic.

I am very interested in a Yoga Topic thanks.

I have been going to classes for many years, and appreciate teachers who are technically skilled and who do adaptations for people like me with a dodgy knee.

Yoga has been a lifesaver to me, as it de stresses and makes me appreciate being in the here and now.

Fave postures - downward facing dog, triangle, tree (with branches, as long as I'm not wobbly and make an idiot out of myself)

Least fave posture - camel week it's the kneeling I can't do!

I do a Thurs class and a Sat morning hour in our village hall.

a memorable session last year was a 1 hour outdoor class at Champneys. It was lovely being barefoot on the grass hearing the birds tweeting while we did our practice!

Namaste.

Lammy7 · 22/05/2015 08:11

Yes! Great idea Cote and I am very interested.

gatewalker · 22/05/2015 09:20

I do Forrest and Yin yoga and it would be great to be able to talk about both here.

With more than 50 of us eager to share our practice, we can always do a hostile takeover of one of those deserted topics if MNHQ doesn't give us a place of our own Grin

CoteDAzur · 22/05/2015 17:39

While waiting for MNHQ, I thought I would share with all of you. It is my personal favourite among all inspirational yoga videos Smile

OP posts:
TalkinPeace · 22/05/2015 20:02

Cote
Glad you picked that one
and if you want to REALLY be inspired, see what he's up to now
(he teaches yoga to men who thought it was for softies BTW)

I've seen it a dozen times and it still makes me cry that the system writes people off who CAN be helped by holistic exercise

Yogasuz · 22/05/2015 21:42

Me too - and I swear this is my user name and didn't just change it for this thread! Smile

MargoReadbetter · 23/05/2015 00:39

There's something in today's Guardian about 7 common myths of meditation (in the CIF section).
