It seems to me - looking at the front pages if the newspapers this morning and the sky news coverage - that it's the fact that a party happened the night before Prince Phillips funeral that's really gaining traction. That photo of HMQ sat alone.

I spent May 2020 mourning my Aunt and a very dear colleague and sat and watched their funerals via zoom. Their families sat alone too.

And no one gives a shit. I'm sure many of you have also had similar horrible experiences since March 2020.

Interesting that James Slack is now deputy editor at The Sun......

I really can't be sure if the BBC is trolling here, but today - of all days - they release a story about how a despotic, chaotic regime collapsed in hours after it's incompetent leader addressed the nation

Tucked away in the "world" section so really posted as a secret to those in the know ....

I see some parts of the right wing press desperately trying to smear Labour over this Chinese infiltrator. Never mind Russia buying up the Tory party. Other parties are always held to a higher standard.

Opal8 that letter from your MP quoting his Torygraph is breathtaking for its ignorance and hubris. Parliament scheming against Brexit, Johnson being a great orator, comparisons with Churchill 🤮 Well, Churchill was a misogynist racist so perhaps that’s a safe comparison?

That response illustrates the depressing reality that Johnson kicked out most of the intelligent Tory MPs and that MSM were able to ensure none were re-elected as independents. I had hoped that Dominic Grieve stood a chance but it’s true that the success of the party is the blind willingness of most Tory voters to keep voting Tory no matter what.

And I think we only have to look across the pond to see what’s heading the UK’s way. Far right libertarian nutters gaining ground on the back of SM and led by Zombie man Trump who has learnt his lesson from round one and just keeps going.

@pointythings

Over on other threads the Tory shills are also trying to smear Labour - Clav is there, and a new one. The stench of desperation hangs thick.

Some are suggesting Labour will also have had parties.

Oddly Clav was refusing last night to say whether they would condemn any MP who took money from overseas, I didn't think it was a very difficult idea or thing to condemn.

@Opal8

I suppose my thoughts are: what else does Dom have up his sleeve?????

I think it's clear from how this has descended into farce is that ultimately nobody knows how much damaging evidence is out there. If they did they'd be prepared to deal with it.

I'm almost pleased at the idea they are paralysed with indecision now. Do they delete that Whatsapp message and risk drawing attention to it by accident. Or do they try to ride the storm out ?

There's also a slight bitter irony in the thought that the Tory party of old - with it's broad church of members - would probably (a) not have gotten this involved in a shitshow and (b) been able to come together to handle it better. But when you promote for ideology not capability it's a risk you need to take.

Many moons ago, Charlie Brooker made a comment on RHLSTP that really resonated ...

doesn't it seem like all the cunts have been rolling sixes these few years ?

I'm starting to see a lot of snake eyes (if my memory of Guys and Dolls is correct). I bet there are a few MPs quietly whistling luck be a lady tonight

I wonder if we could spin the whole Prince Andrew debacle as a Remainer plot too ? After all we know there is no amount of bollocks Brexiteers won't swallow as long as you point it the right way.

My memory was that Brexiteers would happily have dumped the Queen if she stood in the way of their beloved Brexit, so some of the heavy lifting has been done.

Eh? She hasn't found any evidence of criminality? So no evidence of there being a party then? Despite the evidence now being in the public domain and De Spaffle apologising for there being a party?

That photo of the Queen kicked me in the gut.
Because myself and so many others were facing similar grief, anguish and pain alone, at the same time because of the Government's rules.

Sue Gray can whitewash it as much as she likes. This is not going away.

I felt particularly insulted by Liz Truss telling us we need to move on. Does she think she is the headmistress or something. Odious woman, I don't know why they gave her the time on TV to just insult us and I reserve the right to not move on until I decide it's time.

Is there any way those convicted under the legislation, which as Rees-Mogg admits was difficult to understand, can get together to mount some sort of class action to say that they were wrongly convicted?Because it does seem that holding large gatherings was absolutely fine as long as the correct words were used.

What about all those small children denied the chance to play out, or go and meet up at playgroups? Or older children who had their education compromised? I think I would be furious as a parent of one, if I had been trying to obey the law, saw Johnson and chums blatantly flout it, and then have them whitewash it as not criminal.

I note also that it says that James Slack has "apologised unreservedly" Hmm ....apologising unreservedly for the hurt and anger caused is NOT "apologising unreservedly" ConfusedAngry
