This may be the last Brexit Arms thread that I will host.

It was intended to be a non-partisan and relatively light hearted thread for posters on both sides of the divide, but unfortunately this seems to have proved impossible so far.

It is not supposed to be a place for the disgruntled Remainer to use as an outlet to abuse and kick out at their perceived enemy.

I will give it one last go in the hope that things will change.

So.... onwards to Brexit....

Thanks for the link, Talk.

Shock horror, BrexitArmsLandlady and surferjet around at the same time again Grin

This section of MN is never going to be lighthearted- it’s not a light hearted subject.

I’m very much looking forward to Friday and the Leavers discussions around the earth shattering revelations about our future that will be forthcoming from TM’s speech.

Oh hang on, it will be more ‘we didn’t expect any detail as we can’t show our hand in negotiations’.

mummmy2017 · 26/02/2018 13:26

Anyone else think the Remain Bus and Labour have a lot in common,
No where to park and rather a lot of U-turns, and still no clear destination in site...

bearbehind · 26/02/2018 13:33

PMSL, how many u-turns has TM done?

As you've pointed out, the opposition party aren't in power so it doesn't matter how many u-turns they make.

This government has made several huge u-turns, the next of which will be a u-turn on leaving the SM/CU.

mummmy2017 · 26/02/2018 13:43

No it's won't, a defeat of the Bill will mean no time and WTO.

We are out, just as I wanted, you see I can see what will happen, your downfall will be the very people you think are on your side, they will cause everything to fail, and I will get what i want.

MichaelBendfaster · 26/02/2018 13:44

they will cause everything to fail, and I will get what i want.

That's actually a bit scary.

TalkinPeace · 26/02/2018 13:47

mummmy
You have a great deal of faith ~ but no evidence at all

Report after report after report has shown that Hard Brexit will be incredibly damaging to the UK economy.

The EU rules about the four freedoms and the inability to cherry pick are published for all to see

THe only countries currently trading on full WTO are Cuba and Venezuala
The WTO is underfunded and not minded to allow a stroppy country in - especially one with no experience of trade negotiation

Compromise is a given
It just remains to be seen what form it will take

bearbehind · 26/02/2018 13:47

mummmy it’s completely pointless discussing this with you.

You have no idea how WTO could work in practice, you just hope it could.

You provide no support for your argument other than blind faith.

My prediction is the the u-turn on leaving the/a CU/SM will happen by the end of March.

I’ll carry on this discussion with you then.

surferjet · 26/02/2018 13:49

This section of MN is never going to be lighthearted- it’s not a light hearted subject

It doesn’t have to be constant put downs & bitchy comments either.
And remainers are the biggest culprits where that’s concerned!
We should be able to discuss anything without getting angry.

mummmy2017 · 26/02/2018 13:52

We are already members of WTO,
www.instituteforgovernment.org.uk/explainers/10-things-know-about-world-trade-organization-wto
Sorry to Burst that bubble.

How can I provide argument to something that has not happened.

It's basic rational thinking, the remain will cause all this just so they can vote it down, and then their will be no time, so out we go.

bearbehind · 26/02/2018 13:55

surfer you might want to look at your fellow Leavers on the subject of bitchy comments.

Literally every post by mummmy involves childish insults and name calling.

TalkinPeace · 26/02/2018 13:57

mummmy
Thank you for that link. Have you read it ?
Once the UK has a draft of its schedules, and once it has left the EU, it can start trading off them. The WTO does have a formal process for approving schedules – known as ‘certification’ – which requires unanimous approval from every WTO member, i.e. 164 countries.
and
When the UK does move to certify its schedules, this will not be straightforward.
and
Certifying the UK’s schedules is likely to take years.

mummmy2017 · 26/02/2018 14:01

The Bloke who Runs the WTO, doesn't seem to have a problem, maybe he knows more than YOU.
We can also trade from Day one,

mummmy2017 · 26/02/2018 14:03

Bear so far you have called me rather a lot of names Glass house and all dear..

And it's your stance that you don't want it so it's not going to happen that is the most childish of all.

bearbehind · 26/02/2018 14:07

I literally can’t be bothered arguing with you anymore mummmy

I provide reasoned, supported arguments for my views, you provide nothing more than an insistence that you are right because you want to be so.

There’s nothing more childish than that.

surferjet · 26/02/2018 14:07

I’ll be honest Bear, I would never say anything to a fellow leaver unless they were being completely over the top.
They are my team.

bearbehind · 26/02/2018 14:10

surfer you’re honesty frequently astounds me.

How can you be happy being such a hypocrite?

On one hand you berate Remsiners for their manner but completely ignore ‘your team’ doing the same.

LondonMum8 · 26/02/2018 14:10

"Ok so the MP's say no, and what do you think will happen..
OMG no time left WTO."

Except Tusk has indicated that Brexit can be reversed.

BTW No worries, we can create further threads on our own but thanks for the good admin work so far @TheBrexitArmsLandlady :)

mummmy2017 · 26/02/2018 14:15

Bear you can't even acknowledge that I have a point can you.

You can't see that all the things I say are possible, and that if things carry on with Remain as they are and they do block the vote, it's not going to be a case of of well we tried, and can we just forget we even started this.
The EU have said we leave, and then try to rejoin, at what cost, this is the reason it will move forward and we will be leaving most probably with the deal that the PM, TM is releasing to you in every press release and TV interview.
NO CU , SO SM and Free Trade, as point out we can't and won't accept the EU's 4 points, so how can it be anything else?

LondonMum8 · 26/02/2018 14:15

Haha, Labour instantaneously spearheaded into the position of UK's most pro-business party :) The Tories are just a UKIP knockoff now.

bearbehind · 26/02/2018 14:20

Bear you can't even acknowledge that I have a point can you.

No, because you don’t.

You’ve views don’t automatically become possible just because you want them to.

Until you provide a credible source for how WTO would work in practice, including he thorny issue of services, there’s nothing to listen to.

All the swivel eyed Brexiters are the same; reason and logic don’t even enter into the thought process.

BJ and JRM haven’t provided any credible process for leaving, it’s just the same arrogant show boating as you are doing mummmy

mummmy2017 · 26/02/2018 14:27

Bear your very angry about all this, That comes through loud and clear in your posts, but my views are the same views that are held by many other people, who just don't happen to be on the MN's site, in fact your views are rather less well support in Real life.

Your above post which contains yet more name calling, you do yourself no favours.

You come across as rather set in your ways, and unwilling to see facts that are being repeated by No 10 all the time.

bearbehind · 26/02/2018 14:34

mummmy Stating things as facts when you can’t provide credible support and always revert to ‘that’s not my job’ is pointless.

The name calling wasn’t directed at you personally, unlike your offerings just today of me being thick etc.

The hard core Brexiters like JRM and BJ are swivel eyed- they can afford to be because they know they’ll make money out of the situation.

I’m happy to continue to discuss Brexit with you if you can provide more to your argument than ‘it’ll be find because I want it to be’

Until then I’ll leave you to it.
