Well done OP to you and everyone else who marches. I went to the anti Brexit march on 1 July last year and it was a great experience

I'm marching too, Niamer. I will be looking at anyone with a witty placard and wondering if they are MNers .

I am planning to go.

I haven't been able to think up anything witty for a placard yet.

I will be there in a large group, but they won't be mumsnetters. It is my secret guilty pleasure and tool of procrastination, so I will be undercover

I would suggest a meet up but if the women's march is anything to go the best laid plans are likely to come to nothing in the crowds.

Not thought of a witty placard either but anything substituting EU for you doesn't count.......

See the post has bought out the usual suspects supporting Brexit with the devastating force of their arguments.

Don't worry, our planned placard borders on rage rather than wit - my 13yo is in charge of it as she is far better at anything craft-y than I am.

It's a tricky one isn't it?

Put it this way - if people don't feel strongly, they won't go on the march. Farage was going to hold one with thousands before Christmas - in the end a couple of hundred turned up.

People felt strongly enough to vote for brexit. That vote was the only display of feelings needed. Noisy lefties dragging their children around London mean nothing. If the government had just decided on its own to leave the Eu, ok...I get it, March and sign petitions, but the government are acting on a public decision, one where one person=one vote, and every vote counted!

Every time the remoaners March or make new petitions against brexit, they are asking the government to ignore the majority.

So IamWendy. When in your book is it acceptable for "noisy lefties" to express an opinion again.
Yes the majority voted to leave, but the fact is not everyone affected by the decision (and majorly affected) was not allowed a vote. That is just one of the reasons for the noise.

People felt strongly enough to vote for Brexit. Yes, several friends of mine saw the vote as a choice between EU membership and a chance to save the NHS. They now no they were misinformed. Another reason for the noise.

Plenty of non lefties don't support brexit either, majority of Tory voters I know didn't vote for, or support it.

I have been planning my witty slogans ok yes one does substitute EU for "you" for some time, but I'm not sure how best to construct the placard. I've got various oddments of wood and plyboard in the garage but I fear I'll end up with a great lumbering thing that my wafty arms won't be able to carry all day. Any previous experience would be greatly welcome.

EU (ex UK) citizens resident in the UK (regardless of how long they'd lived here), expect those from Malta and Ireland.
UK citizens living overseas for 15 years or more
16 and 17 year-olds

Quite a different franchise to the Scottish indyref (16/17 yo, EU citizens, not Scottish people resident elsewhere).

You obviously had a different ballot paper to me Wendy. I didn't have one which said EU or Hard Brexit?

I am neither a 'leftie' nor will I be taking children with me. However, when your local hospital closes, or you have to pay to visit the doctor, I trust your response will be 'whatever' - I can't imagine that you will go on a protest vote, even if you feel strongly.

Sorry I'm politically ignorant. But in layman a terms what's are people marching for this time ? I can't keep up with it all. It's seems to be something different each week.
