Moving children from private to state education

I've made three posts and accidentally deleted them. This is short...
I'm heartbroken but have to seriously consider taking children out of private school to state. They've been there since nursery and now high school age.
Any positives? Good experiences?
I would do anything to keep them there but every option not viable for one reason or another!
Bursary also not helpful, said max help 10% if accepted and terms notice to leave said in a very matter of fact way, no skin off our nose, goodbye when you say.
Cried so much thinking of what I can do but it's just seeming impossible.

Apologies not read thread. I know two instances. The first was about 15 years ago and they moved their kids from Kings Chester to Bishop Heber (state school in Malpas). The parents said they wished they'd done it sooner, the mum even went as far as saying not having stress of school fees saved the marriage. The second ones lived in Church Stretton (South Shropshire), and they moved to local state (only had about 500 kids and quite a leafy state), the kids made friends and enjoyed walking to school rather than getting a 7.30am bus. All in all it was in both instances a good move, and stopped them going bankrupt. I don't know anyone who's had to move to a failing comprehensive though.
