Yay! Shiny new thread.

I have 16 items listed (all relists, as I was too lazy busy to do any more over Easter).

Here's hoping all the months of training gets me to that gold medal position....

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 10/04/2012 16:34

Good work!

I've got 61 items listed atm, and hopefully will start on a load of clothes once these have all finished so I'll aim for Gold!

ggirltwin2pinot · 10/04/2012 16:35

ooh i'm up for it
have made nearly £400 in last month

if it's not nailed down I'm ebaying it

hazchem · 10/04/2012 17:57

I'm only very new to ebay. Do you think I could join?
Really I think the best I could hope for is silver but that would be totally amazing and I think Bronze is more realistic.
I've got three things listed at the moment.

mogs0 · 10/04/2012 18:26

I'm in! I normally only have big eBay sessions around Christmas time but there's just so much stuff still around the place that needs to go that I can't wait for the high sales of Christmas...things have got to go now!

Clothes are my main area to concentrate on this month and I think I could reach gold just on the volume of stuff I have waiting to list Blush.

Good luck everyone!

notcitrus · 10/04/2012 18:33

Oh yes! I didn't join the last challenge but now dd is 2 months it's time to get rid of more stuff.

I'll be Going for Gold - anyone remember that programme?

toobreathless · 10/04/2012 19:12

Oooh. Count me in!

We are moving to the other end of the country in the first week of August & I am taking no prisoners unwanted stuff. Sent three items today but I must admit have already spent the winnings. Oops!

Iwish....61 items wow! I currently have two listed a baby girl BNWT outfit & a gro bag.

eggyblackett · 10/04/2012 19:14

Count me in too. Only 10 things listed at the moment, meh.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 10/04/2012 19:22

This is the first time I've tried selling much. It took me ages to list them all toobreathless.

I put them on a few bits at a time with a start date a couple of weeks away, then when it was all done I went in and started them myself to save the 6p fee on each one Blush

iklboo · 10/04/2012 19:30

Do you ladies link to your eBay pages?

iklboo · 10/04/2012 19:31

Sorry, pressed 'send' too soon.

Or is linking not allowed

mogs0 · 10/04/2012 19:46

Yes, linking is fine! I linked to mine on the last thread but have been to lazy to do it on this new one.

If I get around to listing anything else then I'll update with a new link.

louiespence · 10/04/2012 20:18

Great idea, I am up for the challenge! Even bronze would be great as I'm not sure I have that much to sell, but I need to make a few pennies so here goes! 8 things listed so far, let's see how they go, my aim is to make £20 for the lot! That would be a good start to the challenge!!

carrotsandcelery · 10/04/2012 20:50

Yay! Thanks Tortoise I will be aiming for gold and keeping the fund for activities during the school holidays I think if I don't spend it first.

I have listings ending in less than an hour - will anyone beat me to a first winnings?? It looks like it will be £15 at the moment but I am always hopefulGrin

Your link's not working OldBagWantsNewBag

I'll be watching with interest - I've got loads of too small kids clothes in the loft that I need to get listed at some point (before the olympics start!)

Well, it seems I am first to sell! Grin

Only £16 tonight but it was all relists and there was a small bidding war over a wii game I have listed at least 10 times (every free listing) so I am stunned that a) it sold b) there was actually a battle over it!

And the £16s add up after a few weeks!

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 10/04/2012 21:52

Good work carrotsandcelery

You've started on the "g" of the gun (to quote Linford Christie!)

Isn't it odd how things don't sell sometimes then have so much interest other times? That will inspire me to keep at it I hope!

toobreathless · 10/04/2012 21:59

OldBag, I can see your items.

Did I hear rumours of a free listing weekend coming up?

I came across a little crop of mini boden in the charity shop & bought four items to list on eBay. First time I have done that. Listed & sold two items and made £8 profit.

Also thinking of listing my wedding dress. Not overly attached to it, it was an off the peg monsoon one, nothing very special. Better check with DH first though. Would put a £50 reserve on I think.

Old Bag: tips for selling baby clothes.

  • Keep it seasonal, list summer items now.
  • Bundle by size, 3-6 months, 6-9 months etc.
  • I would sell sought after brands singly: Mini Boden, Joules, Petit Bateau, Frugi, Monsoon etc
  • Mix bundles up: Gap, Next, M&S. Always throw in one 'better brand'.
  • I probably wouldn't bother selling bundles of just supermarket stuff as the postage makes it almost cheaper to buy new. Consider putting a 'collect only' bundle together or use to pad out other bundles.

Your listing is very good. Some things to consider:

  • I found it quite 'wordy', I would list the items by bullet points.
  • I personally found the blue font a bit off putting.
  • Do you post overseas?
  • Would you be happy to combine postage?
  • I always add 'any questions please ask.'
  • I understand your rationale for including the top with the tiny hole but it's not really 'free' as the bidder is buying the whole lot. I would have photographed or at least including the measurement of the tiny hole.

Just my opinion, HTH.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 10/04/2012 22:14

I can see you link now too OldBag - perhaps I looked too soon after you'd listed it so it wasn't showing.

I'm not keen on the blue writing, and claiming to be able to post as soon as humanly possible is just asking for complaints imo.

SkiBumMum · 10/04/2012 22:14

I'm in. Not sold a lot before but would love to make £200 by summer!

Have baby stuff, wedding outfits and some home stuff as we are redoing kitchen. Need to get going ...

Any tips gratefully received.

carrotsandcelery · 10/04/2012 22:40

Newbag I can see your listing now too. It like the blue font but would use a larger font size. I usually use 14 but have no idea how that looks when it comes up in a listing. I will have to look at my own listings. I do usually use a colour though Blush I am now wondering if it puts people off.

Nice to see thread is busy already.
I have no bids yet on my 70 items. Have 3 watchers on old Amstrad computer.

I have to raise about £350 by beginning of May to pay for my mum and youngest brother to visit from Turkey. Think I have my work cut out lol but any money raised will help.
