Newbag I am learning. I think my listings are wordy too if yours are considered wordy. I try to add as much detail as I can but maybe people find it too much Blush It takes me ages to describe things as well.

carrotsandcelery · 11/04/2012 08:56

I have a few watchers, mostly on the same few things (Boden kids clothes). It is not nearly as busy as I had hoped. At least the free listings has got stuff listed though so I can relist it every free weekend until it sells.

stressheaderic · 11/04/2012 09:12

Oooh can I join in? I'm trying to raise a couple of hundred quid if possible towards our holiday.
Trouble is, I've already ebayed most things of any value! So now trying to sort wardrobe and weed out things I don't wear anymore.
And as DDs's wardrobe is mainly stuff from ebay and hand-me-downs so nowt to sell there!
I did have some success this week, selling a new River Island purse someone bought me as a gift, it was lovely but too big for everyday use. I had 45 watchers and it went for £15 so I was chuffed with that (and puzzled by the demand).

carrotsandcelery · 11/04/2012 10:09

It is always surprising what sells and what will start a bidding war.

It is also surprising how much money you can make from outgrown kids clothes and clothes from our own wardrobes we are fed up with or which were mistakes etc. It just takes a bit more effort than the big items to make up the same amount of cash.

NewBag we have sold quite a few wii games on ebay. If you have a printer it is worth checking out the price Amazon would offer you for them though as they usually offer better prices. (we don't have a working printer and you need one to print off labels).

The game I sold was Harvest Moon Magical Melody. It wasn't complete but required too much reading for my dcs to enjoy it.

It sold for £5.19 so not a massive bidding war though.

The only wii game I have which hasn't sold has been Fifa All Play '09.

I have looked up completed listings for all of them and then set a price at around the highest selling price as I hate feeling diddled out of a game for 99p. I am patient and wait for free listings and relist and relist until it sells

carrotsandcelery · 11/04/2012 11:29

BTW for those new to the thread, we discovered on the last thread that partially used perfumes and aftershaves sell remarkably well, especially ones which are no longer available to buy in the shops.

stressheaderic · 11/04/2012 11:33

Last year, DP brought home a set of 5 boxed mini Dior perfumes for me that he'd won on the tombola in work - some incentive thing. They were a bit young for me so I put them on eBay, 50+ watchers and went for £25 :)
So, yes, dig out your travel sets, airport freebies, and samples - they all seem to sell.

It is worth a browse round completed items on the perfumes and, again, setting a reasonable start price on the more valuable ones. Dh made £36 on a 2/3 full bottle of aftershave a few months back. I think it was discontinued though so I don't think that they all go so well.

This is the season for the travel sizes though as people prepare for their holidays.

mogs0 · 11/04/2012 11:59

Interesting to know that travel size perfumes sell aswell as that's all I've got left after my mass clear out last month Grin.

My dad's tent has attracted 26 watchers (only uploaded photo and added description last night) and two BIN requests!! Need to find out what he'd accept for it.

SNOWBall4girlz · 11/04/2012 12:19

another challenge yay lol
my items finished last night that I set going before I went away and I missed the free listing weekend but will start again tonight or tomorrow.

Some one in Romania bid and won a mini bundle and sent me a long e- mail about how to post it to her by small packets how much it cost and how long it usually takes. No thank you replied with my usual will only post abroad with insurance e - mail :). with the fvf and paypal it would cost me money to sell it to her.

hi to tortoise, celery, mogs and the mob lol good luck

baabi · 11/04/2012 13:06

Can I join too, I have masses of kids clothes to get rid off as I just had a clearance of the DC wardrobes and they seem to have grown out of everything from last year! Some of DD's clothes are hardly worn as she seems to grow out of them so quickly!
Also I need to book our flights to Turkey for the Summer but I am finding them really expensive this year so anything I can make will be a bonus!
my current offerings lots of watchers already so I hope some of it will sell Smile

carrotsandcelery · 11/04/2012 20:57

Hi baabi - I hope you don't mind but I am watching your boden t-shirt and one of you tights bundles as I have similar stuff to sell and am interested to see how they sell. (sorry - didn't want to get your hopes up that you had more potential buyers than you do.)

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 11/04/2012 20:59

If an item has loads of watchers (25) is that a good indication that it might go for a good prie?

I've got loads of watchers on a few things but only 1 or 2 bidders. I'm getting obsessed by checking if anyone else has bidded or started watching Blush

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 11/04/2012 20:59

prie = price!

carrotsandcelery · 11/04/2012 21:14

Iwish there is no predicting. I have had loads of watchers before and no bids at all. I have also had no watchers at all and a bidding war.

I am also obsessed with checking all the time. I have no bids on my listings for Sunday night yet - unless of course one has come in while I have been on here...

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 11/04/2012 21:25

I've got bids on 26 out of my 61 listings and only 8 without any watchers.

I'm too impatient for this!

carrotsandcelery · 11/04/2012 21:27

When do they finish Iwish? If you have days and days to go then maybe you have to ration yourself and check breakfast, lunch and evening once only for questions and otherwise make yourself stay away. It can be your little treat in the day Grin

baabi · 11/04/2012 21:44

Carrotsandcelery no problems, I do the same with some stuff. It is nice to have watchers but I know from experience that a lot of watchers does not mean the items will sell Smile

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 11/04/2012 21:56

Not until Sunday evening Blush

It's ok in the day, I don't check at all because I'm at work, but in the evenings I'm constantly checking!

Wednesday evenings seem to be very slow!

carrotsandcelery · 11/04/2012 22:10

I usually find nothing much happens until the weekend.

I have had a buyer ask me to post to a different address again. I have said I am really sorry but no. Have I done the right thing? I explained I would lose all protection if I did.

toobreathless · 12/04/2012 00:40

I have two bids on one item & one bid on the other. But only a couple of watchers.

I need to get a bit more clued up on postage costs as an item I thought would cost just under £2 to send went as a large letter do I refunded my buyer £1. Very confusing!

Can someone kindly explain how to do the linky thing to items? Thanks.

CointreauVersial · 12/04/2012 00:41

Well, I have finally been able to close the unpaid item case against my bunk bed buyer, and can relist. What a pain in the rear end that was.

Following the discovery of my stash of childhood Pippa dolls in the loft, I did some investigation, and was astonished at how much money the little blighters sell for! I have a "Pippa's friend Penny" in perfect condition, and an identical one sold last week for £152. Ker-chingggg! (Actually, with my luck it'll go for the starting price). Even the outfits fetch £5-15. All I need is a free listing weekend - any sniff of one happening soon??

Anyway, 16 items listed; the last two school summer dresses have bids (they've been mega popular), but nothing else yet. Early days.....

hazchem · 12/04/2012 13:04

following carrots suggestion I've listed a bottle of used perfume Here I wonder if someone would critique it for me. I've got 2 possibly 3 more bottles I'd like to list.

I also wondered if it's possible to link to other items I'm selling within my own listings.
