A brand new shiny thread which will be abundant with BFPs and joy!!!!

So let's start by doing a quick roll call:
I am kwick and I am footloose and fancy free - hence the need for magic potion.
I started with CRGH in 2015 - have done 9 treatments so far (natural IUI, medicated IUI, stimulated IVF, natural IVF). I have had 2 BFPs - one after stimulated IVF and one after medicated IUI. Sadly both ended in MC.
Due to my advanced years (42, nearly 43) I will most likely go down the Donor Egg route - however both my pevious clinic and my new one, IVI, require me to get down to a 35 BMI - and that is what I am focusing on currently.

Hi, I'm daphne and my wife and I are considering TTC with donor sperm.

I have probable PCOS (I'd be the carrier), I don't know all the acronyms yet, I'm here to benefit from your wisdom!

Currently trying to get healthy & have just started charting & taking prenatal vitamins.

Pez82 · 02/06/2017 08:53

Thanks for the new thread Kwick!

I'm Pez, 34, single and currently 11+3 weeks following a first successful IVF cycle (after 3 failed unmedicated IUIs).

Looking forward to seeing plenty more BFPs on the thread!!!

Munrowalker · 02/06/2017 08:59

Hi I'm munro
Me and my DH are TTC with donor sperm as my DH has a medical condition that means he is unable to father a child.
We are currently in the tww of our 3rd IUI.
We are having treatment on the nhs.
I am currently 33 and we have waited nearly 4 years for treatment.

Calz81 · 02/06/2017 09:13

Hi, I'm 35, single and in London. Had treatment at the London women's clinic using donor Sperm from London Sperm bank.

I've had 6 iui's in total, 5 natural, 1 medicated.
It's been quite the rollercoaster for me, iui #3 was bfp but lost at 29+6 and had a stillbirth. Got back on the journey and iui #6 was bfp and now 6+2 days pregnant.

Let's hope for many more xx

Bear1980 · 02/06/2017 10:01

Hey i'm 36 (although 37 is looming) and single. Doing medicated IUI at GCRM with sperm from ESB. On IUI #2 following a bfn last cycle.

TinyPaws · 02/06/2017 11:02

Hi everyone! This is my first post here!

I'm 31. I have a girlfriend but we don't live together (she's military).

I was recently diagnosed with PCOS which was not a surprise as my periods have never been regular.

I've wanted kids forever and am finally ready to try and make it happen! My GP has agreed to refer me to a fertility clinic and I'm now waiting for my copy of the referral letter and my first appointment. My gf is supportive of this.

At the moment I'm saving like crazy as my CCG doesn't fund IUI and I don't qualify for IVF funding either.

StorkAhoy · 02/06/2017 12:00

Welcome tiny most of us have to self fund too! You are in good company! Lots of help available here, ask away!

PaisleyBE · 02/06/2017 12:26

Yay, new thread!

My intro: 31, single, living in Belgium, doing my IUIs in Sellmer Clinic in Copenhagen, first natural IUI in May 2017 - bfn.
Ready for next try in June! Smile

StorkAhoy · 02/06/2017 13:18

Ladies! Raspberry leaf tea (3xdaily), pomegranate juice, beetroot juice and a warm compress are supposed to bring about a wonderfully think uterine lining. Anyone got any thoughts?
The tea is also used at end of pregnancy to bring on labour apparently!

Bear1980 · 02/06/2017 14:02

Was reading this morning about the benefits of pomegranate and beetroot so sounds plausible. I have switched from normal tea and coffee to rooibos tea which is caffeine free and full of goodness apparently

INeedNewShoes · 02/06/2017 15:32

Just joining the new thread to keep tabs on how you're all getting on Smile

34, single
Unmedicated IUI at Stork Klinik, Denmark
IUI #4 was the lucky cycle for me; my baby girl was born on 05.05.2017 Smile

Snorkmaiden85 · 02/06/2017 15:33

New thread!! Thanks kwick 😚 I still need to catch up on the last pages of the old one, will do that next!

I'm Snork, 32 and single
Having treatment at BCRM in Bristol
Still waiting to start as been referred to Spire Hospital for a laparoscopy to check for scar tissue as a result of ruptured appendix/intestinal adhesions aged 8! Trying to navigate my way through slightly contradictory advise from Spire and BCRM.
Having an HSG to check tubes clear in a couple of weeks (prior to laparoscopy) so hoping that might shed some light on things.
Desperate to get started and trying not to lose my mind in the meantime!

Welcome daphne and tiny! Glad you found us, this thread is a lifesaver in terms of support.

pez nearly 12 weeks already! Are you feeling a lot better now? Hope the nausea etc has eased up :)

munro how much more of the tww to go? Hope you're getting through it ok.

Pez82 · 02/06/2017 16:11

Ah ah Snork, I like the 'already' - time has been dragging like never before since I got my BFP. I think the TWW is a patience exercise for the steps to come after and I hope you find out for yourself soon enough 😊
Nausea is still very much constant but tiredness is getting better, thanks. Only eating and drinking cold stuff now which is a nice change from potatoes! But tea now tastes rank 😪

I hope the HSG gives you the answers you need, it's awful when you're in the unknown.

Welcome daphne and tiny! You've come to the right place

I hope this is ok us pregnant ladies stick around on the thread, I really want to know what's happening with everyone!!

Calz81 · 02/06/2017 16:14

Hi @tiny and @daphne.

Ah @newshoes congratulations! How beautiful. How are you coping?

Snorkmaiden85 · 02/06/2017 16:30

pez (and calz too!) Of course, it's 100% ok with me for you pregmant ladies to stick around! And shoes too of course :) I love hearing how you're getting on, and the BFPs give me hope. The journey doesn't stop with a positive test! We're all here to support each other, whatever stage we're at.

Glad to hear you're feeling a little better pez, even if the nausea is ongoing.... fingers crossed that gets better soon too. Yup I imagine time is going very slowly from your perspective! This journey certainly does teach you patience - that was never my strong suit but I think my patience is already improving! Hope your pregnancy apps are helping the time pass.

Munrowalker · 02/06/2017 17:51

Oooh I think it's great that the preggers ones stay around. Gives us a lot of hope that a BFP is possible!
Im half way through my tww @snork but I do feel different this time. Trying not to get too emotionally attached to this cycle though as otherwise will be heartbroken.
Also as I'm on my 3rd iui I've got this thing in my head about chances reducing after the 3rd cycle. I don't actually know if this is true but so many people say to expect a result within 3 iuis.... 🤔
Welcome @tiny! Great you've found us 🙄

Pez82 · 02/06/2017 18:33

Munro, was it not the case that doctors later established that you didn't ovulate on your first cycle or am I getting confused with someone else? If so, you can count this one as your second try if that helps 😉. I hope this one is a successful one!!

Munrowalker · 02/06/2017 18:58

Yes thanks @pez they said that My progesterone was too low on both my first 2 iuis to have supported a pregnancy even if I had ovulated. Pretty annoying that it took that long to discover as u only get a limited number on NHS. So maybe technically this is my first??? 😉

Snowdog37 · 02/06/2017 19:04

Hi! I've sorely neglected the last thread so thought I'd pop on this one and say hi and give a quick update!
I'm Snow, aged 39 now (ugh) not a bfp in sight and have just started my donor egg ivf cycle! Am on cd6 and on Estrimax 3 times a day to boost my lining. Having a scan next Friday to see how it's doing. Then flying over to Prague in 10 days and hoping to transfer two lovely blastos in about 16 days!!!! Can't believe the cycle is finally here. Been keeping myself very busy to distract myself.
Hope everyone else is doing ok? I'll have a read of the last few pages of the last thread to catch up.
Beautiful sunny day here, have been enjoying some lovely walks with my dog this week to relax and get some exercise.

kwick · 02/06/2017 19:15

Welcome newbies!!!

stork isn't raspberry leaf supposed to bring on AF/MC?

pez you can stay as long as you like 😘

snowdog so so so good to hear from you!!! So pleased you are trying through donor egg 🤞🏼

Snowdog37 · 02/06/2017 19:19

Kwick I highly recommend the Czech Republic for treatment. Do you have a male friend who could sign paperwork? Because I know single women are doing this and using donor sperm and the clinics are fine with it. They don't check if you're married or legit. They just want to see a male sign the paperwork. The prices and success rates are awesome too. It might be worth exploring?

Snowdog37 · 02/06/2017 19:23

Oh and the male doesn't ever need to travel over there with you, and there's no issue with bmi mine is hovering around 40 and it's no problem as with donor eggs the weight of the recipient isn't as important. As long as my lining is good then they can manage my hormones with meds. I saw a few overweight/obese women there in January and after much googling it seems success rates are almost identical for low and high bmi.
