Bad news: those of us (including me) who bet on Roglič, he's out.

Good news: Ewan, Démare, Merlier & Coquard abandoning clears way for Cav to much more possibly get to 35 wins career total in TdF... ( omfg !!!!)

I think those of us who didn't pick Pog are pretty much screwed tbh. Anyone have today's winner? Was watching stage thinking "who he and where did he come from?".

So Merlier DNF, Coquard and Demare missed the time cut. Merckx must be sweating on his record.

Is it just me or does anyone else get amused by imagining the conversations between Cav and his team mates as they drag him up the hills to make the time cut off? A combination of swearing words and cajoling

I think when he says he doesn't understand why the other sprinters' teams don't ride at the front that's part of it; the Cavendish doctrine is that having a team that suffers for you is worth another 1% or more in terms of motivation/obligation when it comes to the sprint.

DD and I solve the which of the 2 GC favourites to choose problem by illicitly having 2 teams each for our mini league (apologies to Mr Velogames for breaking the rules). My Pog team has Lopez and Barguil in it and even the boy wonder may not be enough to revive it.

With more sprinters abandoning, I'm a little bit watching-through-fingers and fervently wishing for more Cav victories.

It was very sweet watching Cav over the finishing line yesterday, thanking his teammates. Surely Patrick will extend his contract...?

Really hoping Cav can do it though. That would be beyond amazing. I really hope he wins in Paris too, but would be better to het the record before then or the stress will be terrible.

It's one little ray of light in an otherwise miserable week for us actually. DS is self isolating (school bubble burst) so has had to withdraw from a race that he's been building up to for ages and us mightily fed up. So I let him watch today's stage instead of doing his school work. To be fair, he caught up tonight but I thought watching history being made was more important anyway.😁

Looking at DQS's picture of Cav finishing, his broad smile suggests that his sheer joy at being there is giving him wings and making up for the possible lack of preparation for a 3 week Grand Tour and its inevitable mountain stages

Cav was an inspired choice for DQS, Sam Bennet would probably have retired with his knee, had they chosen him. MC seems to so fit in with that team and especially Michael Morkov.

I suspect he has been training very hard in recent months! he was only 90 sec's behind Froome on Mondays brutal stage.
