Hi, de-lurking to say that my DH was convinced I was being attacked in our living room such was my shriek of utter joy at Cav ‘s run in. So very very pleased for him.

I think it's showing that I didn't spend money on my team: it only "cost" 82 points and I should have spent some time working out which of the real GC contenders to put in (as opposed to my sentimental choice of Porte ). Despite having both Alaphilippe and Cavendish in my team, I'm still trundling along in the lower echelons of the league

Ds is down visiting (it's dh's birthday today) and all three of us were screaming in joy at the TV at the finish

We're currently having a new bathroom fitted and I had to go and explain to the bathroom fitter why so much noise was emanating from the living room

A wonderful day! What a rollercoaster this tour has started out being. Cav really wears his heart on his sleeve and has been a feature of the tour for so bloody long! I feel really proud of him, what an achievement and what a force of character he is. Well done Cav.

Brilliant, all the right sort of drama. The interview got me a bit teary. I saw Cav win in the green jersey on the Champs Elysees in 2011 and among all the talk of whether he could get another stage win it never even occurred to me that he could be back in green.

What a fantastic win for Cav! I got quite emosh there.

I didn't watch after my last day seeing all the crashes and being heartbroken I was disillusioned and grumpy so now I don't know whether to be more grumpy or over the moon . Actually I'm pretty sure I'm over the moon. CAAAAAAAAAV!

Has anyone got the official guide at all? It's a trad here that I get it each year, but forgot this time So ordered it on line as newsagents have sold out. Arrive 3-5 days......

Well another fab day in the sprint.
I have the official guide I am currently making use of my Bernard Hinault coaster.

I can't resist the lure of the official guide although it's increasingly not very good value for money - not even any socks this year. It wouldn't be the same without putting the wallchart up for the tour.

I'd been carefully avoiding the news and social media as I was out most of the day and wanted to save myself for the ITV4 highlights show (love Gary). Then the news bulletin spoiled it for me

But absolutely thrilled for Cav, hope we're not jinxing him by even thinking about more wins this Tour. Or next year even!

I'm enjoying his coyness and stubborn refusal to mention Eddie Merx or even think about the record. I think it's a good mind state to enjoy and appreciate his comeback as it is, without comparing it to the legend, but it also has the fear of Jinx about it for me.
