I also have Marc Hirschi I read that he had a separated shoulder and the team will decide tomorrow if he will continue so there is still hope. Sadly Marc Soler has broken both arms (I don't know how he managed to finish today).

I watched that stage through my fingers and almost decided not to watch any more cycling after the second crash, it was just too horrible seeing them flying through the air like that.

Happily though I'm off to an excellent start in my wooden spoon campaign.

G-Thomas has tweeted a video clip of a woman (spectator) pulling her child out of harm's way from the soaring (off road, involuntarily) riders & bikes. Quite dramatic.

I'm catching up on highlights but am aware of the crash. I've not joined the velogames - it's for the best, my team usually nosedive.

I didn't join the League either, but I'll be watching the Tour as much as I can.

Hoping for a safer race today - my nerves were shattered after yesterday's crashes!

Anyone who wasn't screaming today - whether they have the victor on their team or not - probably doesn't have a soul. Absolutely phenomenal. What a race.

People ask me why I'm not concerned about the risk ds playing rugby (now senior level rugby - Premiership in Scotland albeit off the bench ). They don't get it when I say my heart was in my mouth far more often watching him cycling, both in crit races and on the track (he gave up before he got to Junior races on the open road).

And as dh point out: in the 7 years since he got his 1st aid qualification, he's used it once on the rugby pitch, despite coaching or referring just about every week in season, yet used it three times on one single weekend at the North West Youth Tour (iirc, 3 broken collar bones).

Well, I've got van der Poel, Pogacar and J.Alaphillippe so I'm sort of hoping the be challenging you MrsAvocet. (not going to happen).

Trouble is...we've been served up two explosive and extraordinary and spectacular stages, it's a hard act to maintain...

Slightly less exciting stages may be allowable on working days. I enjoyed the scenery today - reminded me of going on holiday to Brittany when the kids were younger.

Another brutal day - hoping all who went down are ok. I was expecting a fairly straightforward stage today. The winner will be last man standing at this rate!

So sad to see so many crashes. Awful for the riders, who have prepared and trained for so long. And terrible for the race as we want to see the best riders tested by the course, not have it determined by crashes and luck.,
