i love the English version. The first episode is always a bit manic so will reserve judgement. It’s interesting though the names of two traitors have already been brought up!

When they were having the meal after banishing Faye it turned into competitive sob stories which is the norm in most reality shows.

Yes, but that is a decision by the producers, and standard across all Traitors series internationally.. The contestants are presumably prompted before the meal. ‘This is where you SHARE!’ They don’t just sit down, clink glasses and spontaneously start trading my parents’ illnesses vs eight years in direct provision etc. One assumes that after all thst time in the castle, they all know most of that about one another, anyway, it just wasn’t shared with the viewers till last night.

It’s still a game. Having suffered doesn’t make you any more or less trustworthy. It would be like thinking that people living in DP never cheat at Snakes and Ladders.

I’m primarily hoping that the women unmask Nick and Ben in the final. If I had to choose one of the women to win, probably Vanessa. Oyin seems to have stopped being at all acute, and I think Kelley’s making it this far is pure accident

MsFelicityLemon · 23/09/2025 17:16

Not getting a nasty vibe off Vanessa at all. Not even slight one. I like her.

I want her to win - and woud be happy if Oyin and Kelley win along side her. Don't mind Ben so much but if he wins, none of the woman can. (Just as long as it's not Nick really.)

"Sob stories" are part and parcel of reality TV. Always have been and always will be - must be awkward if all you have is not being able to something luxurious I'd be even more rubbish than Nick - i don't even want to go to Disney Land 🤣

I was imagining Kelley's parents watching and saying 'Really? The best she can come up with is paying off our mortgage?'😀

I think Vanessa is too direct for some people, but so was Joanna. Cultural issue, rather than anything personal.

I'm ABtB (Anyone But the Boys) for the final.

What struck me in those interviews with Siobhán in the first episode is that virtually everyone (except Paudie? Maybe Diane?) said they wanted to win to use the prize as a house deposit. Sign of the times! I think Kevin Mc Whatsit said Siobhán would be on Uncloaked after the final.

mikado1 · 23/09/2025 19:04

Nick said house deposit also I think. I was surprised an estate agent was renting!

honeyrider · 23/09/2025 21:37

They're going to make a second series and are looking for applicants.

FlipFlopShopInHawaii · 23/09/2025 22:33

I'm behind watching it, so round table has just starter..... here we go!
Kelley is right, it's 2 v 2 and she's the deciding vote. Really hope Nick goes 🙏

honeyrider · 23/09/2025 22:44

Move over Cromwell 😂😂😂

Magnalux · 23/09/2025 22:49

i do think that the Irish faithful seem to know exactly how many traitors there are which is a big advantage! Once you know you have the required number out you are safe to end the game. The last series of the English one people didn’t reveal whether or not they were traitors when they were banished in the last few episodes which added a bit of uncertainty to things. Delighted for the girls though

Siobhan hasn’t much time for the two boys!!

Yes, I was surprised that Nick was allowed to say he was a traitor — I thought the whole point of the last banishments in other versions was that you didn’t know? Thank god the women got their heads back in the game in time, though the edit on Vanessa was puzzling. Why wasn’t she jumping around delighted after they’d banished Nick, like Oyin and Kelley? She looked terminally depressed. (Like Ben!)

Ben and Nick on the Uncloaked sofa looked like two smalltime crooks in the dock in their good suits!

Anyone going to apply? I'm considering it! 😂 do they stay at Slane Castle for the duration or off site somewhere?

Offsite, I imagine. What hotels are around there?

Dontlletmedownbruce · 23/09/2025 23:23

Well I'm very satisfied with that ending! Great show.. I'm not a fan of reality TV but I liked it and the Irish angle was much more relatable.

honeyrider · 23/09/2025 23:27

Celebrity one next, 8th October.

looking forward to it. We’ll need another thread, I think this one is the most action craicnet has ever seen!

Delighted with the outcome. Totally unravel for Nick and he hadn't a clue what to do about it. My DS is not happy though- he just found it too nasty how they (those that wion) laughed at Jo when Kelley said thanks for the sheild but im voting for you anyway.

There's already a celebrity traitors thread. Ill find the link, and put it on here.

There's some celebrities in there i don't like so I'll start off wanting people out 😁

I agree it felt particularly mean on Jo, but I don't think Kelley was being malicious - I don't think she meant to laugh, I think it was a nervous reaction.

It's great the faithful won, but if it was me I'd probably banish again so I could get a bigger piece of the (relatively small) pie. If the total was closer to 100k I'd be happy to split it in 3, but 42k is too little for that.

MsFelicityLemon · 24/09/2025 07:50

Yes, I said to DS that the laugher was probably just an in the moment reaction and that the "ganging up" was part and parcel of the game. But he feels very strongly that a whole group laughing at one person to him it is bullying.

Anyway here's the Celebrity Traitors thread .

I thought this too but then my daughter pointed out that I could be booted off so it is a risky strategy you could end up with nothing.

I enjoyed the last episode it was great to see people use their heads not their hearts or some misplaced loyalties. I think in the UK version they don't say if they were traitors or not only at the outside banishments but I think the odds are too much in the traitors favour anyway so it is good they do have to reveal what they are. Looking forward to the celebrity one will be interesting as everyone know each other so may be quicker to pick up traitor behaviours

FlipFlopShopInHawaii · 24/09/2025 08:51

Agree @ComeAsYouAreAsAFriend, it's a risk. If I was Kelley I wouldn't risk it, but if I was Oyin or Vanessa I probably would.
Would've been interesting to see if Ben and Nick had got to the fire pit, would Nick have thrown Ben under the bus?
Really enjoyed Uncloaked (Derobed? 😉) last night, love Siobhán ❤️

FlipFlopShopInHawaii · 24/09/2025 08:58

Re announcing if you're a Traitor or not at the fire pit, the UK only started that this year (maybe last year 🤔).
Not sure which I prefer — I guess saying Yes, I'm a traitor gives the remaining contestants a better chance if they're faithful.
Anyway, great series! Well done RTÉ 👏
I was half afraid they'd fuck it up, but apart from some slightly dodgy challenges it was brilliant!

MsFelicityLemon · 24/09/2025 09:16

I didn't like the change of not announcing the traitor or faithful from the last banishment at the round table onwards. Though I can see why it was done, as it allows traitors to win.

The last challenge was nonsense wasn't it? What exactly was ithe challenge? Take various types of transport to different places then act like it was a puzzled as to which symbol was Fire before going to stand on the symbol with Fire written underneath it 🤣

Was anyone else distracted by the fact they seems to have graffitied parts of Slane Castle? 😆

honeyrider · 24/09/2025 09:42

Well Big Brother is back on Sunday so that will have to entertain us.

TartanCulshie · 24/09/2025 10:49

Ben and Nick came across really well on uncloaked. Admitted to being too cocky, and took all the jokes put to them.

I suppose it must be such a pressure cooker experience, maybe it doesn't do anyone favours

V excited for a celeb one!!!!!

That’s the game, though. And I think that the knowledge of how crucial Kelley’s swing vote was going to be at the last round table meant that there was more screen time of her than would otherwise have been the case. I think Kelley was a rather wet, flip-floppy character who went along with whoever had spoken to her most recently. I think she was genuinely touched when Jo gave her the shield, but then panicked at being singled out and went along with the groupthink to banish her, I think out of nerves and indecisiveness rather than any conscious desire to betray or wound.

They need better tasks/missions next season! These don’t have to be expensive and full of pyrotechnics and helicopters, just more interesting.
