The traitors

i love the English version. The first episode is always a bit manic so will reserve judgement. It’s interesting though the names of two traitors have already been brought up!

Well, that was an interesting episode. The success of eliminating a traitor has gone to Nick's head and he fancies himself as a bounty hunter. There's a clear split in the camp now. I thought it was interesting that the men voted for Andrew and the women voted for Katelyn. If the newly formed alliance of Nick, Ben and Mark try to target someone else, the disaffected are likely to vote against them, purely out of animosity.

Yes, it's getting interesting in that Nick, a faithful, is behaving like a traitor -- it's not clear to me why Ben and Mark aren't reacting more negatively to Nick saying, perfectly openly, like it's an obvious and expected thing, that he's intent on banishing people he doesn't suspect of being traitors because he doesn't like them, or think they're amenable to his particular brand of charm.

Would be terribly interesting if you had a thoroughly nasty faithful browbeating other faithfuls, and a very nice, devoted father-son traitor duo that the viewing public ended up rooting for, even though they were technically the baddies!

If the game were to end tomorrow, I would certainly prefer Paudie and Andrew to win the prize money than Nick, Ben and Mark.

If I had to choose a current faithful to win the whole thing, I'd choose Christine, the Cork beauty therapist. She seems funny, nice and good craic. Though Oyin, who sniffed out the correct traitor combination and won a lot of games last night, probably deserves a shout.

TartanCulshie · 10/09/2025 11:44

So Oyin wins a shield and there's not even a murder? That's rubbish. Can it rollover? Cos she's clever and might be a target for the traitors.

Delighted to see smug Nick getting the wind taken put of his sails. His logic that HE was protected with katelyn so the rest should keep her to protect him. And maybe banish his pal, and have someone murdered. All to save him. It's not a great reflection on his personality.

I'd love to see Andrew see his dad in the cloak. Bring it on. Except now we've to wait until Sunday 😭

Good point. If there's no murder, can you keep the shield until the next time when you could be murdered? She might well be a target. (My 13 year old gamer says 'Of course she's clever! She's a gamer!' I say 'Hmmm.')

FlipFlopShopInHawaii · 10/09/2025 12:00

I thought that what happens is... Andrew is recruited then him and Paudie choose who to murder together. If Andrew chooses to be murdered (who would do that?) then tomorrow night Paudie attempts to recruit again.
Just my thoughts on how it should work.

There's 15 people left, and 6 episodes - so at least 10 to go before the final (assuming 2 per night).

I think there’s a fair bit of heat on Paudie still, so they might only last a day as father-son traitors. I like both of them, and would be delighted to see them waltz off with the prize, but I suspect it’s deeply unlikely.

I’m not sure I’ve registered that much difference from the UK Traitors — could you say more about what you think is different, @ComeAsYouAreAsAFriend?

I just think they're more up front about who they're suspecting and have no issues saying it to each other's faces. There is also less "you're my best mate I trust you completely, I know your're not a traitor" etc

Yeah he'll likely be recruited and they'll murder the same night.

I think it's just edited differently. For example we have seen four of the woman, hugging and exchanging looks but not seen them interact in down time much. We see more of that interaction in the UK traitors.

There will be a murder, it’ll happen after Andrew “hopefully” accepts.

I'm dying for him to break down laughing and shriek 'Daddy! You rotten traitorous bastard!' as Paudie raises his cloak hood, but I imagine that he'll say he knew all along. I think he did, anyway.

Crazybooklady · 11/09/2025 13:03

@CheeseDanish I cannot wait for that reveal. It’s going to be so funny. It would have been hilarious if Paudie had signed it off as Daddy 🤣 I think Andrew knew too & if he didn’t he probably recognised the handwriting.

TartanCulshie · 11/09/2025 13:08

@CheeseDanish , @Crazybooklady

I thought it was funny how they did it. The offer to Nick had a hand written note with reasons why they wanted him. But they said for Andrew - just write the name. (Or something like that). So there's no chance for him to write - son, come join me. Which I suppose keeps the veil of secrecy. Andrew has suspected both Paudie and Patrick, and must know only one can be a T, so I wonder who he'll be expecting... I am really enjoying this series!!! Highlight to my mat leave (other than time with kids 😝)

I have actually thought a bit about handwriting.

I know that someone recruited as a traitor, whether or not they accept, can't bring the letter out with them as evidence of anything, but while writing the name on a murder letter wouldn't matter, it would almost certainly be very obvious to anyone reading the longer handwritten bit on a recruitment letter whether the writer was an older or younger person. (No one, for example, would confuse my handwriting with my mother's.)

It should have been clear to Nick that the writing on his letter was Paudie's. And Paudie should have made Katelyn write that letter -- her handwriting would give away less.

True. Plus they see everyone's handwriting each evening. If only as one name, but still gives a clue should Nick have care to check!

I’d love it if someone was outed as a traitor because they did little hearts instead of dots over their letter ‘I’s… Or smiley faces.

MsFelicityLemon · 12/09/2025 12:27

Yes, imagine:

Nick 🖤 by order of the traitors you have been murdered signed signed the traitor.

Though no use if youve been murdered al a bit too late. 😆 Only useful to those who get recruited and decline

MsFelicityLemon · 14/09/2025 22:41

Not loving Nick and Ben. Especially Nick - i hope he gets blackmailed.

Though how does it work if Paudie recruits from outside the three. How can anyone be blackmailed as if they refuse then do two people get murdered?

I wonder if the recruitment (why is everyone suddenly calling it ‘blackmail’?) works entirely separately to the murder?

Poor Andrew. He was nice. And I knew he knew Paudie was a traitor. Certainly nicer than the mostly awful remaining male faithfuls. Well, Wilkin seems harmless, but Nick, Ben, Mark and Patrick are all eminently murderable.

Who should Paudie recruit? Awful Nick woukd double-cross him at the drop of a hat. Someone everyone likes, like Christine? Or Oyin, who not only got the three original traitors right, but also guessed Andrew had been recruited?

Travelfairy · 14/09/2025 23:01

Oyin is so intuitive. She has it all figured out. If it was me I would recruit her.

It’s a good idea, if people have forgotten that she’s been right about everything, and said Paudie was a traitor from the start, along with Katelyn and Awful Eamon, and as well as correctly guessing Andrew had been recruited. And she’s quite reserved, so no one is going to be saying ‘Oyin used to be so chatty, but she’s changed…’

Love the kilt culottes!!!

Best outfit yet

Crazybooklady · 14/09/2025 23:26

Oyin is his best option but I think he’ll recruit Nick or Ben.
