Gender critical in Ireland

Just wondering if there are many others out there. Was reading a political pamphlet and it was going on about self ID and how important it is. I just don't agree and think it's so damaging to change the definition of what a woman is. And the definition of a man too, I guess. Sex based rights are under threat in Ireland. Fed up with all the nonsense. Wondering what other Irish mumsnetters think.

Yes it is elitism pure and simple. Possessive individualism rampant. Whatever I want to be true is truth and whatever I want I get.

How any socialist has time for this codswallop is beyond me. Meanwhile people have to choose between food , warmth and shelter in the real world.

Is $$ at the back of it? I honestly don't know.

I think the politicians mainly wanted to be thought of as progressive and inclusive.
Until recently you couldn't say anything that was anti the trans ideology without being cancelled. I think they were thinking of their careers when they supported this, but hopefully some are realising that it might be time to think again now...

WineorAppleCrumble · 02/04/2023 19:05

I mean look at what happened to JKR or anyone who spoke out...that's plenty of motivation right there for supprting trans issues if you're a public figure.

But it's completely unprogressive & backwards letting men have women's rights, access to public spaces, toilets, prisons, changing rooms & sports teams.

It's the opposite of progressive.
Introducing trans prisons, trans changing rooms, sports trans etc would be progressive.

Letting a huge amount of men & their penises infiltrate our spaces is primitive.

Did anyone read this in the Irish Times? It's behind a paywall but I'd love to get the gist of what (crap) she's saying...

Can anyone share the info about the Belfast rally?

Villagetoraiseachild · 02/04/2023 20:57

Can someone start another thread le do thoil?
From what I have read there are big bucks behind all this.
Big pharma, private medicine for starters.

Villagetoraiseachild · 02/04/2023 21:05

As for the free speech event, Turtle Murtle, ( Let Women Speak in Belfast), the deets are on the Standing For Women website, always, for general info.

They usually convene at midday, 12pm but usually start a little later.
Sunday 16th April, at Poets Square I believe.

Villagetoraiseachild · 02/04/2023 21:09

I was wrong there!
Belfast is at 1pm, just checked.

Villagetoraiseachild · 02/04/2023 21:16

A column worth reading for the views of the establishment in Ireland:

Elaine Loughlin: Anti-transgender narrative seeping into the mainstream

Just popping in to say hi.
Things seem bleak, but the silence is breaking and daylight is such a disinfectant.

Waves from Roscommon.

Belfast hotels so expensive!
Really sad Dublin let women speak is postponed.
I was going to talk about how hard the national women's council of Ireland have betrayed us. And how isolating being cancelled was.

And that there are 50k UK women living in Ireland and the sectarian racist bullshit will not wash in 2023.
If pantibliss hates brits so much he should let the tourists know at the door of his club..bc if he goes Irish only he'll be broke in a fortnight.
Dishonest racist mysognist behaving like a fascist.
Utter disgrace.

Leopardprintonsie · 02/04/2023 22:21

Panti Piss & his Trans army of Fooligans are getting worried. He attacked us mumsnetters over the weekend on his twitter😂As @Genesis1v27 posted above the media are waking up & the trans ain't liking it

Genesis1v27 · 02/04/2023 22:25

You are more optimistic than I, @Leopardprintonsie ! I reckon the hardest battles are still to come.

Leopardprintonsie · 02/04/2023 22:36

I am because it's a start. The whole trans ideology is so primitive, now the media are more sceptical & politicians know there's a storm brewing.

What polician is going to be the bright spark who advocates that women will not compromise their rights & who lobby's for trans only rights & spaces.

The trans already have the rights of their birth sex so they can't say they have nothing.

Leo V knows he scraped in last time.. He just might surprise us. The GRA needs to be reversed & abolished with trans getting their own sports teams, toilets, prisons & a third gender added to official documents F, M or T.

Pfft! There were 50 English lads in the GPO on Easter Monday 1916.

Well Liverpool specifically but hey. Panti Piss is racist in both directions. The Brits are all Imperialists and the Irish are too thick to form their own opinions. Especially rural Irish people.

I got a tiny bedsit in Belfast last time I was there. Just Googled hostels iirc? That was pre covid and Ukraine mind.

PleasantBirthday · 03/04/2023 08:57

I don't care what anyone thinks. Feminism is an international cause for women in all countries. I'm for all the women in every country.

Villagetoraiseachild · 03/04/2023 10:44

Are there Homestays in Belfast?
Also air BnB much cheaper than hotels.
