Gender critical in Ireland

Just wondering if there are many others out there. Was reading a political pamphlet and it was going on about self ID and how important it is. I just don't agree and think it's so damaging to change the definition of what a woman is. And the definition of a man too, I guess. Sex based rights are under threat in Ireland. Fed up with all the nonsense. Wondering what other Irish mumsnetters think.

Why should girls and boys have to go upstairs to use their toilets anyway ? And the unisex toilets will quickly be taken over by the bigger boys of course. Get real Ms Foley.

Abhannmor · 29/03/2023 11:36

Sorry @PleasantBirthday I see you have already made that last point !

Villagetoraiseachild · 29/03/2023 12:52

Could it be that their unisex toilet idea/planning/installation actually gains funding from some pot of gold?
I have no evidence on this whatsoever, other than the follow the money credo.
(And thanks AbhannMor, I actually understood your comment thanks to efforts on Duolingo.)
I feel that the parents of girls in particular are going to have to get fierce about this to stop the rot, as soon as possible.
It's just so shockingly disrespectful to proceed without any consultation.

For those following the Gaelcholáiste Chiarraí story, the principal was interviewed on Radio Kerry this morning, as reported in the Irish Examiner: Principal meets parents following row over gender-neutral toilets in Kerry school.

Radio Kerry have a brief clip here, the full interview may be available on the Kerry Today podcast page later.

Villagetoraiseachild · 29/03/2023 13:53

I'm sorry, but the arrogance of the man.

Having zero lived experience of being a girl or young woman having to cope with periods at school, he is unqualified to comment.

johnnytightlips · 29/03/2023 14:36

The RTE media darling "herself"🙄
They would never pull him up on these comments though. Hopefully time will not be kind to the likes of this.

Regarding the toilets in schools issue, could I jump in and ask if the situation is

  1. separate block for female
  2. separate block for male
  3. gender neutral block

At least there are separate facilities, but it does introduce a mixed setting. I wonder if trans can use all three facilities? The lack of consultation with parents is unreal.

In this school that's what they've comprised in but the DoE plan is all mixed. All.

Leopardprintonsie · 29/03/2023 15:23

Just read the gripts article, rte not reporting as usual. Comments under the gript article says it all, many think the country has lost it's mind.

Leopardprintonsie · 29/03/2023 15:24

@Genesis1v27 surely the Gardaí need to investigate this. It's inciting hate & violence. Also it falls under hate speech.

Abhannmor · 29/03/2023 15:30

We will see about that Mr O Neill. Fascist bully.

VaddaABeetch · 29/03/2023 15:35

I cannot stand Rory O’Neill. I can see him turning up to let women speak in April to harangue women. You know the old fashioned kind.

Leopardprintonsie · 29/03/2023 15:35

The Gardaí need to investigate his speech. If a prominent figure made a comment like that about a trans person they would be up in court & it would be all over RTÉ & the mainstream media.

VaddaABeetch · 29/03/2023 15:54

I’ve read RON tweets. He’s employed by RTE our national broadcaster & he is threatening women?

Farmageddon · 29/03/2023 16:02

What an arrogant dick!
I'm so over the fawning of this bloke by the Irish media...

Leopardprintonsie · 29/03/2023 16:03

@VaddaABeetch & why are RTÉ not reporting Rory??
Because RTÉ are engaging in state sponsored censorship & they only report pro trans propaganda.
They were also very quiet about the American transgender murderer who shot the school children & staff in Nashville. They referred to the shooter as a woman named Audrey not a transgender. That wouldn't suit their narrative.

Farmageddon · 29/03/2023 16:05

I just looked at Panti's twitter and he calls himself a 'National Fucking Treasure'...

Leopardprintonsie · 29/03/2023 16:07

I think the women of ireland need to set up a petition to get him removed off our airwaves & screens. We pay our tv licenses after all. Look at the way Gary Lineker was removed by BBC for his comments. Women are a very large demographic who pay their TV licences.

VaddaABeetch · 29/03/2023 16:08

He had a ducking film made about himself Queen Of Ireland. He positioned himself at the front of marriage equality. He has a play in the peacock, part of the Abbey Theatre. He has a handy number reading out bingo numbers on RTE.

Right how do I complain to RTE.

I hope as many of you as you can come along to Let Women Speak in April.

Leopardprintonsie · 29/03/2023 16:11

@VaddaABeetch we pay our tv licenses. People have been removed from the airwaves for a lot less.

VaddaABeetch · 29/03/2023 16:16

Campaign to remove him? Expose him for what he is?

Abhannmor · 29/03/2023 16:18

Reported the threatening Tweet by O Neill. As did many others if his pathetic whingeing is anything to go by.

The ratio is bloody amazing though. In 2018 you'd have hundreds of ' feminists ' piling on to anyone who dared to voice a criticism of this wealthy, entitled, self pitying cringebag.

Where have they all gone I wonder. Perhaps they have a new motto : Is binn béal in a thost.

Leopardprintonsie · 29/03/2023 16:20

VaddaABeetch · 29/03/2023 16:16

Yep he needs to be removed from RTÉ pronto for inciting hateful language & violence towards women which is supported by his tweets.

VaddaABeetch · 29/03/2023 16:20

Has anybody screen shot his threats? I can see it disappearing.

Isn't it Shirley Temple Bar who does telly bingo?

I don't watch TV much so I could be wrong
