Well done to this docter for standing up for himself.

Interesting to know that not all doctors follow the 'just get vaccinated' line.

It's very refreshing to hear a different perspective from a medical professionals and that there is not only one way of looking at things.

Nappyvalley15 · 07/01/2022 20:33

I can see why he feels the way he does. Interesting how his other colleagues were silent when asked the question too.

What I find even more fascinating is the tumbleweed blowing around this thread....

the80sweregreat · 07/01/2022 20:37

I've always stuck up for those who have chosen not to be vaccinated
I did say on another thread why are so many NHS workers not getting the vaccine and I was flamed , but maybe they do know more than we do ? Who knows

flipflop76 · 07/01/2022 20:38

Yes well done to that doctor.

the80sweregreat · 07/01/2022 20:43

I'm not an anti vaxxer , but people are entitled to a different point of view and making their own decisions too.
All the better it's from a Doctor.
Why shouldn't people question things?

Lifebegins21 · 07/01/2022 20:46

It is really refreshing to see this being shown. I am all for free choice. It will be a great loss to the NHS if the government continues with this rule and lose so many workers.

It's fascinating but also frightening.
MarineBlue33 · 07/01/2022 20:49

That dr is a rare one. Every other medic I know is pro the vaccine. The vaccine has saved lives.
I think that dr is irresponsible

XenoBitch · 07/01/2022 20:51

Fair play to him. Will he cave though, and get vaccinated to keep his job (which he should not have to imo)?
If he doesn't, the NHS will lose a consultant anaesthetist. I am not sure there is a surplus of them right now.

Interesting about the silence, yes

I thought they'd be prepped for such a stinker of a question.

the80sweregreat · 07/01/2022 20:52

It's a different POV , when did that become a crime ?
If the NHS loses 130,000 staff that really will cause it collapse.
Is that what people really want ?

InCahootswithOrwell · 07/01/2022 20:53

You know how on every ward/specialty there’s a doctor who thinks he’s God’s gift and always right even when he isn’t and everyone else just thinks he’s a prick?

I think he might be the prick. I’m getting strong vibes. Not least because I’m pretty sure his scientific argument is wrong particularly the bit about how his antibody protection from getting delta is better than somebody who is jabbed, or it would be if he was jabbed. And I don’t really follow his argument that people will need boosting every month.

Blue565 · 07/01/2022 20:54

I've had two jabs and a booster. They're talking about a fourth? I've had enough now

I'll get jabbed once a year ala Flu, no more. Like this doctor said - boosted every month? Every two months?

What is there to say?

It would be less risky for his own personal heath, his patients and for wider society if he was vaccinated. He also has the right to choose not to be, but if everyone did that, we'd be in a really problematic situation with the pandemic right now.

He's done a lot of damage by only seeing it from the perspective of himself.

but maybe they do know more than we do
Clinicians have access to the same data that you do. The vast vast majority have chosen to be vaccinated.

GirlInACountrySong · 07/01/2022 20:58

@EmmaH2022 whats the question?

Definitely rare.

It's actually deeply worrying (and rather baffling) that a doctor doesn't trust in science and medicine Confused

inclined to agree with this
the80sweregreat · 07/01/2022 21:00

I decided to have it , but it was obvious that millions wouldn't.
Why are these views like his ones always dismissed ?
He is a doctor does that mean he has to toe the line ? Of course he doesn't.
Anyway , sacking off 130,000 people is a bad idea too , so where does that leave anyone ?

purpleme12 · 07/01/2022 21:03

Will they really get rid of so many NHS workers?
I'm for the vaccine
But I'm worried if we'll lose this many NHS workers?
Cos I can't see that we can afford to?
And surely having unvaccinated workers is better than losing them?

the80sweregreat · 07/01/2022 21:04

Losing so many staff would make this current crisis look like a walk in the park :(
What are their answers then ?

Flyonawalk · 07/01/2022 21:04

Some comments on this thread are disturbing. The doctor who spoke (in a measured way and from a position of scientific knowledge) is being discredited because posters don’t like what he said. Why jump to unpleasant conclusions about his character?

The embarrassed silence from some of the other staff when Javid spoke to them could suggest that they are also against mandatory vaccination. I know plenty of medics who believe ‘the science’ does not support blanket vaccination.

EmmaH2022 · 07/01/2022 21:05
@EmmaH2022 whats the question?
Did you see it?

At the very start, Javid asks the group in dark blue "what do you think of the new rule requiring all staff to have the vaccination?" (Not quite verbatim).

No one answers, understandably.

Whyisitsodifficult · 07/01/2022 21:05

He talks a lot of sense, nobody should be coerced into vaccinations. What’s wrong with testing immunity? It’s downright shameful if this consultants years of experience will be lost because he’s decided not to have a vaccine! And shame on anyone who believes vaccines should be mandatory!

GirlInACountrySong · 07/01/2022 21:06

i doubt they will start sacking medical staff

they are struggling enough as it is!
