Well done to this docter for standing up for himself.

Kudos to this man. There are many of us who support the 100k NHS staff affected by this. Just not many on MN

I feel that many want the unvaxxed punished. It’s not really about transmission now is it? Yes the vulnerable and obese should take the vaccine. It’s clear the rest of us obtain natural immunity from now

Hmm

You don't seem to do much actual reading do you @mikelondon55?

I've repeatedly said I don't agree with mandatory vaccination and that the issue here is that the doctor quoted isn't stating an opinion, he's saying things that are not true about vaccination to try and justify his choice.

Not sure why I'm engaging with a name + string of numbers username that was created today though!

riveted1 · 08/01/2022 00:25

also.. "clot shots"

do better Mike Grin

BeMoreGoldfish · 08/01/2022 00:26

Does everyone know that NHS staff have a compulsory hepatitis vaccine?

Have done for many years and it’s never been an issue.

So why is Covid different?

And no I don’t believe NHS staff “know something we don’t know”. Hmm What bollocks.

ilovesooty · 08/01/2022 00:27

@mikelondon55

When my father died he accepted his death without demanding others risk their health to keep him going but then selfish muppets like riveted and co dont care about the greater good- just their own health and brood and fck everyone else. Thankfully boosted numbers are diminishing as more people see this sh1tshow for what it is and allows the whining covid cowards to stay in quivering behind the sofa. Not that these fools protect the NHS as they spend all day typing on here morbidly obese having not seen a gym in years drinking and smoking away- with a bit of luck covid will help them change their lifestyle but they would sooner whine on here about anti vaxxers all day revelling in their own cowardice and selfishness demanding healthy people destroy their health with the clot shots
Antivax drivel.

I'm surprised the doctor didn't mention that he has strong T Cell immunity now from natural infection, which is not provided by the vaccine.

I applaud him for giving an honest answer about his position. I'm not vaccinated, 54 and had covid six weeks ago. I have T cell immunity in storage for when the antibodies wane.

riveted1 · 08/01/2022 00:31

Indeed @ilovesooty

What makes a man suddenly decide that must make a MN account at midnight to post anti-vaccine nonsense on a coronavirus forum, I wonder Hmm

@boogiebogie weren’t you the poster sharing that horrendous article of misinformation yesterday with made up stats and bullshit conclusions that’s now been taken down?

That really concerns me that you’re using shit like that to inform an anti vaccine stance in healthcare Shock.

I think it's different because it's so new and trials don't complete until 2023. Then there's the issue of Pfizer refusing to show all the trial data for 75 years. Medical, scientific minds naturally have a problem with this I would think.

@MNHQ

Could you look into this poster & their username history perhaps..?

@mikelondon55 I don't give a shiny shite about contracting COVID seeing as I'm about as low risk as you can get.

I do care about the population-level impacts of uncontrolled coronavirus, and the people who continue to copy and paste misinformation because they have been taken in by anti-vaccine groups.

No I don't think vaccines should be vaccines, yes I think doctors should be allowed to make a choice regarding vaccination, but this isn't equivalent to saying things about the vaccines that are patently false.

riveted1 · 08/01/2022 00:35

no I don't think vaccines should be mandatory

far too late for me, far too many trolls

BeMoreGoldfish · 08/01/2022 00:35

@lorrainecleaver 6 weeks ago a colleague’s unvaccinated healthy 47 yr old husband got Covid and is now dead. What’s your point?

ilovesooty · 08/01/2022 00:37

I wouldn't bother engaging with @mikelondon55. Its rubbish will probably be gone soon enough.

@mikelondon55

The vaccine fascists like riveted and sooty/ zippy are slowly declining... not on here of course. They are allowed to keep posting their drivel as they drool about "selfish people" demanding people take the clot shots indefinitely as they cower away from covid. These cowardly fools dont care about vaccine side effects, as long as they feel safe from the mild head cold with their wretched health they arent bothered about jabs every few weeks- doesnt get more cowardly or selfish than that. No other board on the web has so many vaccine fascists as this place bar maybe the Guardian and even that isnt as bad! The one dimensional censorship of anyone not wanting the clot shots and to wear a rag on their face all day to protect the cowards like zippy is disgusting
In all my posts I've stated vaccination should be a choice and no one should be if they are not comfortable with it.

I've also pointed out no-one can make an informed choice if they're being coerced by the misinformation you have been so taken in by.
@lorrainecleaver 6 weeks ago a colleague’s unvaccinated healthy 47 yr old husband got Covid and is now dead. What’s your point?
My point was I have T Cell immunity that vaccines don't provide. I also know someone who died of Covid, 48, a nurse. Very sad, it was before vaccines. Then again, I know two people who died of covid after being double vaxxed. They don't work in every case and actively harm many people with side effects. Therefor it must never be mandatory. And my point in my second post to you was that this vaccine is very different from Hep B because it is so new and the trials are still ongoing.

Bluebluemoon · 08/01/2022 00:41

What I find even more fascinating is the tumbleweed blowing around this thread...

Me too. We had FIL round yesterday (whom I consider an intelligent, independently-minded person) banging on about how people who refuse to be vaccinated deserve to lose their jobs, are to blame for pretty much everything at the moment and shouldn't receive any treatment should they become ill. He was quite vehement and shouty about this and got quite purple in the face when the (thankfully) rest of the family made arguments against this and what this kind of thinking could mean for the future. He didn't seem to have any coherent argument against these points though. He was basically just repeating propaganda that he'd clearly read in the paper.

I was really quite shocked at his lack of critical thinking and inability to even consider how it is dangerous to think mandatory vaccinations are a good thing. He has really gone down in my estimation.

BeMoreGoldfish · 08/01/2022 00:43

No it doesn’t harm “many people”. The hep vaccine would have been “new” at some point. All vaccines are new at some point Hmm. That is no argument at all. People dying before the vaccine was introduced was a tragedy - those who could have been saved had they had their vaccine is utterly devastating Sad.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 08/01/2022 00:45

@Walking4You

Vaccines don't eliminate all risk but they do reduce it.

Yes expect that this covid vaccine isn’t a proper vaccine is it?

It doesn’t and never will make covid disappeared unlike, polio, measles etc….

It doesn’t last very long. 10 weeks they are telling us and then the protection drops considerably. Unlike the flu, we would need some booster at least every 3 months.

As we have learnt, variant can sweep over the world very quickly. And the vaccine might well be totally inappropriate.
Eg for omicron we don’t know yet if the two doses of the vaccine actually have any impact of the transmission of the disease. We do know that the vaccine efficacy with AZ is about … ZERO (so I imagine that it has no effect too on avoiding the spread)

This is not a vaccine. It’s a prophylactic drug that protects people for about 2~3 months.
I am not aware of any prophylactic drug that doctors and HCP have to take before treating people.

You do know polio and measles have not been eradicated? And that no vaccine is 100% effective in preventing transmission?
