Has anyone been watching these talks on YouTube. Seems like the rest of the world thinks the Uk is crazy for lifting all restrictions and I agree with them.

For anyone who doesn’t have their head buried in the sand it makes a very interesting discussion, not much you can argue with.

We'll be back in lockdown but not until AFTER the MPs have had their summer jollies with no restrictions.

User135644 · 18/07/2021 08:37

I feel like it isn't all or nothing though? Would wearing a mask, meeting outdoors where possible and social distancing when indoors really have such a detrimental effect on peoples mental health? What restrictions that the UK has right now are having a detrimental effect on mental health?

Opening things like nightclubs and football stadiums at full capacity is pretty much guaranteeing an autumn lockdown, given the exponential rise in infections.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 18/07/2021 08:40

After 18 months of this - still astounded by the " hide and it will go away " mindset....!
I've not read the whole thread yet but I can tell you how it goes-
England bad / new Zealand good
Selfish people
I'm a Saint I've locked myself in my living room since March 2020
Young people bad
Schools bad
WW2 blitz spirit

It's called the novel virus because that means new . No one knows how this is going to go but different people are trying different things, that includes our government. If you think people are in agreement with their government all over the world except for the UK try reading proper news not in the daily mail !

Mookie81 · 18/07/2021 10:12

@ladybugsrock

We are trying to stay at home as much as possible now. Even to the point where we are considering job changes etc to stay away from it all. It is utter utter madness
It sound like you're in the grip of utter madness...how is it in there with NannyAndJohn? Hmm
GoldenOmber · 18/07/2021 10:18

There was a weird point last year where my Facebook friends feed was all UK people saying “why can’t we be more like people in other countries, they just get on with it without moaning” and “why can’t we have a decent competent government like all the other European ones!”, alternating with Irish and Italian people blasting strips off their government and talking about how shit it was that everything was shut.

ladybugsrock · 18/07/2021 10:59

@Mookie81 with CV family members it is fucking scary. Don't berate other people until you know their circumstances

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 18/07/2021 11:13

@GoldenOmber my family are in Italy and let me tell you they have had enough, riots and the hospitality industry in protest ignoring lockdown now .
Yes it's scary - my ex ( ds dad ) has no immune system and he could just as easily die from chicken pox as covid

Riots where?
The hospitality industry in Italy is open, except for nightclubs which are still closed if in closed spaces.
Nobody is ignoring lockdown because the whole of Italy has been a white zone for about a month now.

Yes, Covid is real, but Covid hysteria is more frightening. Much more of that here in the UK than in other (comparatively affected countries). After a slow start it now seems we test more than any other country in Europe. Most countries certainly don't test asymptomatic children routinely. The NHS is struggling mainly because staff levels are severely affected by the isolation rules.

Lots of double jabbed people are now having Covid and from NHS doctors I know, virtually all of these in ICU are either unvaccinated, with severe underlying (read: were treated for something else previously to testing positive) or with a single jab. Those double-jabbed who I know have caught Covid have had mild symptoms (mainly stuffy nose, head ache, tired). We need to stop testing routinely (apart from keeping stats/testing in hospitals) and get on with life. But first, get on with vaccinating yourself if you haven't done so already!

In a decade or so's time I reckon one of the big questions that people will keep on asking is "Why the fuck did the UK not go into lockdown in June 2021?".

Still believe this @NannyAndJohn?

Seeing this thread again has given me the heebie jeebies. Good God how awful it all was, and how much worse it was made by the NannyAndJohns of Mumsnet. As someone who was unable to wear a mask, the abuse I got here and in real life was despicable - one poster here told me I deserved to die. This despite being one of the CEV they were trying to 'protect'.

I understand that the posters who whipped up fear were obviously incredibly scared themselves but I hope they've reflected on how they behaved in those awful months. I'm also incredibly glad that their end of days predictions never came to pass.

I have two auto immune diseases now since Covid and high blood pressure. Anyone else suffering the same?

I was a very fit, qualified fitness instructor and withing three weeks of having my first Astra Zeneca jab, became extremely ill. The last four and a half years have been hell for me, diagnosed with reactive arthritis, fibromyalgia, myocarditis, 26 abnormal ECG's since November 2022, for the last two years suffered blackouts, which after having an implantable loop recorder, were attributed to my heart stopping for 8 to 12 seconds. In October this year, after another trip to the cardiologist, I collapsed again. This time my heart stopped for 25 seconds. I now have a pacemaker fitted. In early 2024, I joined a group (registered UK charity) called UKCVFamily, who support the victims and families of people like myself, who have been injured by the Covid vaccines. Many of us share the same symptoms, some worse than me. The one thing we all have in common, is that we have been ignored by our GP's, who are in denial, which is very surprising, because in May 2024, there was an official UK Covid Inquiry, where the extent of the numbers of people injured and killed by the vaccines was disclosed, by way of the ADR (adverse drug reaction) Yellow Card Scheme. Bearing in mind this was an official government inquiry, it seems very strange to me that the mainstream media ignored it completely. On page 71 of the inquiry, the full extent of the statistics are laid bare. The vaccine which I am convinced caused my injuries was Astra Zeneca batch PV46664 on 27th February 2021, so I have also posted a link showing the top ten worst AZ batches.

NannyandJohn aged well. Wonder what they are up to now after saying that there would be no family Christmas gatherings ever again! 😂
