AZ side effects

AZ yesterday. Have to say I think I’ve just had the illest night of my life. The bed is literally sodden. Chills are an understatement. OH was the same. Headache now but getting better. Don’t want to put anyone off. Delighted to have got it. Just wondered how many were the same? And what the reaction is likely to be after the 2nd jab?

You poor thing, that sounds horrible. My neighhour had the AZ yesterday and had the same side effects as you. I also had it yesterday morning and no side effects yet.

I've heard mixed reports about the second jab.

Hope you and your OH start to feel better soon.

Sackofspuds · 16/04/2021 10:32

Thanks shreddies. Must stress so happy to have had it just didn’t expect anything on this level.

I had AZ on Wednesday evening no side effects at all apart from sore arm! Sorry that you have though.

kittykarate · 16/04/2021 10:37

I had rotten chills starting 12 hours after my jab - I was trying to work wearing multiple layers of clothes including gloves. Had to take myself off for a nana nap in the afternoon as I was so cold and fatigued. Was fine 36 post jab.

FOJN · 16/04/2021 11:25

Had mine yesterday, I haven't felt this ill for a very long time. I can barely lift my arm, I ache all over and the only thing that's stopped me shivering (no temperature) is being in bed, wearing multiple layers of clothing and having the heating on. I'm not usually a "cold" person. I've had two doses of paracetamol now and feel marginally better than I did 7 hours ago but it's been rubbish.

I'm not put off the second dose, the side effects are not usually as bad but I really didn't expect to feel this ill.

MadeForThis · 16/04/2021 11:57

Had it yesterday afternoon. Very sore arm when I woke up but better after moving around.
Mild sore head and chills.

Does anyone know if there is a difference in reactions in people who have previously had Covid? I tested positive in December and had very mild symptoms.

Can only speak for myself, still having low level headaches 6wks after AZ, waiting on bloods. Very likely I won’t be having the 2nd jab.

Wakemeuuuup · 16/04/2021 13:54

Three of my close relatives had the AZ vaccine this week and all had a horrible night after it. Fatigue is still an issue a few days later

Miseryl · 16/04/2021 14:12

I had the first jab the other week. Felt absolutely fine except for a very sore arm. I had asymptomatic COVID last year.

DP also had first jab last week, again felt fine except for sore arm. He has also tested positive on a blood test for COVID antibodies but never actually tested positive on a COVID test.

VivaDixie · 16/04/2021 14:16

So sorry to hear of those who have been so ill. This is what I was worried about.

I had mine 24 hours ago and have had absolutely no side effects other than a slightly sore arm but only mild.

Not sure if this helped but as soon as I had my jab I took 2 paracetamol. Then 2 more before bed, an early night, didn't sleep on my arm and 2 more paracetamol this morning. I don't intend to take any more.

Really hope you feel better soon Flowers

crazycrofter · 16/04/2021 14:17

Same here, had it 48 hours ago, still feeling hot/cold/achey with a headache. It’s not unlike how I felt at Christmas with covid, though maybe not quite as bad. I’m really put off having the second jab now. Do I have to? I must have a lot of antibodies now?

Neonprint · 16/04/2021 14:18

I was ill. Not as bad as you seem though! I had my first vaccine in early Feb. It lasted a few days then faded. Just had my second last Friday. Second symptoms were much lighter!

AlwaysaLittleBitTired · 16/04/2021 14:32

Interested in this post, as I felt shocking for a couple of days after the first AZ jab. I have my second jab later today and am wondering what sort of weekend I'm going to have...I am hoping it won't be as bad as the first (terrible headache, temperature, chills, generally feeling ill).
So far as I know I have not had the virus...

PrettyCherryBlossom · 16/04/2021 14:32

I also had AZ yesterday and had chills and a fever last night. Was supposed to be working (from home) today but didn’t feel well enough to log on until mid morning. Feeling much better now, just a slight fuzzy head and an aching arm.

gratedbeetroot · 16/04/2021 14:56

I was the same.

Slightly nervous about the 2nd dose now.

VivaDixie · 16/04/2021 16:41

Weird as after I posted I now feel all 'egg-shelly' and achey. I am hoping it is just that as it was noon yesterday when I had the jab. Would it take effect so late after? I hope not 🤦🏼‍♀️

Stuffin · 16/04/2021 16:45

I was expecting side effects but didn't have any. Have been really lucky.

Passthesauce · 16/04/2021 16:49

I have mine Saturday and will take the paracetamol tip to see if it wards off any side effects - DH and my sister both were shattered the day after theirs but fine within 24 hours. But then, after DH got paracetamol in in case of side effects, he didn't take any, so might have been better if he had.

Most of the people I know who've had AZ have had side effects post first jab. Whereas those I know who had Pfizer were fine after first jab and it's an even split (2/4) between those who had side effects post-second jab and no side effects at all.

Very anecdotal, though!

Sackofspuds · 16/04/2021 16:59

30 hours later and feel ok now. Genuinely fascinated how varied reactions are. Would not be put off 2nd vaccine. I want my holiday!!!🤣☀️

I had my first at 9.45 this morning and don’t know if I’m having side effects or if I’m imagining them! I do have ridiculous health anxiety so over analyse every twinge I ever get! Feeling tired and a bit chilly despite the sun streaming in through the windows...just hoping this is as bad as it gets🤞

I had mine on Tuesday. I wasn't expecting side effects as I never normally react to any vaccines. I was fine until Wednesday lunchtime and then was freezing cold and shivering with a headache followed by a slight temperature and pouring with sweat. I'm still not quite right. Have a vague hungover feeling with slight nausea and a headache. My eyes also really ache and I feel a lot of pressure in my sinuses.

poppycat10 · 16/04/2021 20:09

I had it yesterday and other than a sore arm, no side effects (yet).

I did take paracetomol before I went, and before I went to bed last night.

I know people pooh pooh the idea but we tell people to give their babies Calpol before their jabs.

DH took paracetomol before he went and had no side effects other than feeling tired.

PurplePumpkinDream · 16/04/2021 20:15

No side effects at all after the first AZ, which I was expecting, either myself or my OH. Hoping it’ll be the same with the second.

Theunamedcat · 16/04/2021 20:19

I've had side effects for a week felt like my arm was kicked by a horse night sweats shivers literally couldn't get warm no idea about the headache they have been digging my road up outside my house and wafting gas everywhere so I would have a headache anyway plus I'm on my phone reading so any headache is pretty self explanatory
