All of my very loved relatives who have died from covid, whose funerals I have been unable to attend due to travel restrictions, have caught it either in a nursing home or in hospital.

Do I still need to watch this?

LilQueenie · 19/01/2021 23:30

Hmm be ashamed. really?

First of all don't assume everyone is breaking rules. Look at he politicians telling you what to do and then breaking those rules themselves. Go shout at them not the ones who know nothing about you. Secondly, Spain was leaving patients to die with only medication to make them sedated enough to try ease the suffering. Yes its hard in the UK but we are doing a lot better than some places. Go shout at the USA.

AcornAutumn · 19/01/2021 23:32

@WineInTheWillows

Wine I don't have a TV licence.

Are you sure you need one for that? I thought it was only for live TV and iPlayer.

I think it was just the emotional impact of seeing so much death they were struggling with. Though the woman they showed crying about the number of deaths was the hospital mortician.

They were very unclear when I checked it out with them so I just don't click on BBC links.

They can keep doing themselves out of business for all I care!

So, OP thinks hospital staff crying over deaths is going to make us lockdown supporters...oh well, it worked on half the country.

Feedingthebirds1 · 19/01/2021 23:37

The OP was very clear that her thread is aimed at those who don't stick to the rules, who find excuses why the rules don't apply to them and will take advantage of any perceived loophole to do what the hell they want.

So why are lots of people who are sticking to the rules piling in and being facetious?

DarcyJack · 19/01/2021 23:41

Terrible isn't it op? And there are some people who you might imagine should be ashamed, but I very much doubt they will be. We can only control our own actions I guess and I will continue to do whatever I can to protect my patients at work and others outside work. I simply have no energy to deal with those who obstruct that.

Labobo · 19/01/2021 23:44

@roarfeckingroarr

I was invited to a house party today OP, where the host told me he's requested £200 per person on the door as a deposit to pay any potential fine. Apparently the attendees list is quite long - people have had enough of lockdowns.

I'm not going because it's just a bit stupid.

Wow. And people think the OP is deranged.

Good on you for not going roar - do these people seriously not realise the risks involved in this? have they all had the virus already? (DCs have a friend who has been fined ££££ by his uni for having endless parties. He's had the virus and clearly no longer thinks he needs to take care.

LegoAndLolDolls · 19/01/2021 23:53

@Frodont

Apart from going for my deserted country walks in a full haz mat suit I'm not sure there's much else I can do.

My 21 year old dd is going to visit her boyfriend tomorrow though. They've both had and recovered from Covid so I can't get too worked up about it.

Lock yourself in the cupboard under the stairs with a bucket, tin opener and a shit ton of Aldi beans?

Of course you can do more. I have been hiding under my divan for 9 months now, up your game.

Seriously I caught covid over new year and didnt see anyone during the period track and trace was interested in.

So it was either asymptomatic spread from.dh or kids or it came in the window. I know I should feel ashamed and confess I'm a feckless door knob licker who went to rave - orgy over Christmas. But the truth is I'm a boring hermit like fucker right now and I still caught it. Shame on me.

TrainspottingWelsh · 19/01/2021 23:53

Because @Feedingthebirds1 if people have been completely ignoring all the rules, and haven't been swayed by the reality of the situation regularly shown across all media for the last 10 months, it's highly improbable they will read a shouty post on mumsnet and immediately reform.

The host is a cunt.
NannyGythaOgg · 20/01/2021 00:00

Have you ever watched anyone dying from cancer. Or seen people with dementia cry and sob (and not MN sobbing either), or watched a baby die.

You seem to think that before Covid people either never died or all death was 'passed away peacefully in their sleep' the reality is far from this.

Ok, I get it, you never had to come to terms with death anymore, please stop trying to preach to those of us who have seen far worse deaths.

In other words FOTTOSOFATFOSM

Lalliella · 20/01/2021 00:01

OP why should I be ashamed? I’ve done nothing wrong. ODFOD

NoOneOwnsTheRainbow · 20/01/2021 00:04

@NannyGythaOgg I fully agree.

Not quite sure that’s right. I think I would have said FROTTFSOFAWYGTFOSM 😄
Elephant4 · 20/01/2021 00:05

I watched the BBC link.

I'm quite shaken by that. We're careful. And we're generally unsociable. But I have moments where I think 'fuck this'. I'm getting tired of it all.

I'll remember that link from now on. It won't leave me. It was very powerful.

Thank you OP for bringing this to my attention.

CaramelE150d · 20/01/2021 00:05

The government are generally incompetent but the one thing they’re not incompetent at is passing the buck. While we’re all arguing between ourselves and blaming one another for the farcical situation we’re in, we’re not really paying much attention to their ongoing shit show.

And the problem of infection control is ignored in favour of population control.

Seconded.

Northernsoulgirl45 · 20/01/2021 00:23

Those who need to see it won't as MSM is the work of the Devil apparently

KeepWashingThoseHands · 20/01/2021 00:24

Totally agree @CaramelE150d

Guineapigbridge · 20/01/2021 00:32

:( :( :(

nancy75 · 20/01/2021 00:37

Looking at how quickly the infection rate is falling in lots of London boroughs (that were very high) I think most people probably are following the rules.
There will always be people that break a rule, just like some people don’t wear a seat belt or pinch the odd thing in Sainsbury’s but on the whole I think we’re a rule following bunch.
All we can do is try our best, you can’t stop idiots being idiots but it’s not good to dwell on them too much either.

LizFlowers · 20/01/2021 01:02

@Justa47

So all the people who rationalise their breaking of rules watch!!!

Learn!!! Be ashamed!!!

Stop being so dramatic! It was on the news at 6pm, I saw a bit of it then. And your point is?
Sorka · 20/01/2021 01:11

Shan’t.

1forAll74 · 20/01/2021 01:56

Lots of people watch the 6pm and 10pm BBC news, so we have all seen the sad hospital reports..

vera99 · 20/01/2021 02:11

WHY !!?
