I just don't have the energy for anything. Today has been cold, grey and miserable and there's nowhere to fucking go because everywhere is closed. Yes there's the local park but I've been there about 500 times since March and I'm bored sick of it.

How much longer can they keep us in this fucking awful state? I've had enough, I'm drained, I'm depressed as hell.

We've sacrificed so damn much for a virus that kills about 1% of people who catch it. I know that sounds callous but I'm facing the loss of my job (I'm self employed in events - ha!) and potentially my home because of this. The toll it's taken on my mental health is disastrous, but I feel like me and my family (and other families like us) are just collateral in all of this.

I know people will probably say things like we're lucky to be alive, but I don't feel lucky.

I can't live like this any longer.

I completely sympathise, OP, and have been struggling here, with many factors.

But it might cheer you up to know that I have a friend in NHS management and she says they are busy with vaccination plans already.

HumanFemale1 · 22/11/2020 12:00
@Northernsoulgirl45 Yes, they are exempt but my mum will still wear her mask to avoid the looks from the self appointed covid twats, who deem it necessary to mutter under their breathe about non mask wearers. So many people who are exempt still wear masks just to avoid this kind of unnecessary behaviour.

Who are the selfish ones?
Your mother can print out a sign that says she is exempt from the govt website and wear it with a lanyard (you can get one in morrisons) so people will stop staring.

Haenow · 22/11/2020 12:22

Your post made me think of this.
I’m sorry you’re struggling. I acknowledge how hard it is and you should be forgotten. Flowers
I am utterly fed up with some MNers judging other people’s struggles as not important enough “because Covid”. Prior to Covid, if you’d posted about struggling with a new baby and loss of work, you’d maybe have 1 or 2 comments telling you that you’re lucky for what you do have. Now, it’s par for the course. You do not need anyone’s validation to feel the way you do and you are of equal importance.

I can't take this anymore
ksohh0 · 22/11/2020 12:35

@mangomemory The exemptions should be issued by doctors. There are few people who can't wear a mask, but a lot who think they don't have to because of a medical condition that in reality shouldn't stop them.

DianaT1969 · 22/11/2020 12:51

I was just day dreaming about a lovely pub nearby that holds jazz and blues nights. I didn't realise how lucky I was to be there most weeks in January and February. That's the type of thing I can't wait to do again - dinner, drinks, live music with good company. It will happen. We'll all get to do the things we love again. When we look back at this time, I wonder if we'll have any regrets about how we got through it. Should I have done more exercise, DIY, gardening, reading, meeting friends for walks? Definitely. Should I have spent time improving my employment skills, applying for better jobs, studying a language? Probably.

userxx · 22/11/2020 12:55

@HumanFemale1 Why the hell should she though ? What has it got to do with the covid twats in sodding Tesco ? It makes me so angry how judgemental people have become.

userxx · 22/11/2020 12:59

@Northernsoulgirl45 So people with legitimate conditions, should wear masks to stop the judgemental stares and tuts? Is that what you're actually saying?

Kokeshi123 · 22/11/2020 13:10

The Spanish strain is the most prevalent here in the UK at the moment. It’s thought to have been brought back by holiday makers in the summer.

I can’t post links at the moment as am on my phone. Every bit of information is taken from a variety of places.

Translation: I'm making shit up and am now also making up bloody silly reasons why I can't post any sources to back up what I am saying.

I just did few searches through the news, Twitter etc and there is no information about vaccines not being effective against the strain that was brought back from Spain.

There is no single report to post. I’ve pieced what I’ve read and heard together to come to this conclusion.

Flaxmeadow · 22/11/2020 13:41

Minimising what lockdown means to people who are losing their jobs, their homes and their sanity by pretending we are a bit upset we can’t go to Costa hmm

I wasn't replying to a post about people losing their jobs, their home, their sanity. I was replying to a comment about dystopia

Flaxmeadow · 22/11/2020 13:47

And you come on here telling people to effectively “chin up” “it’s not a dystopia

Great use of false and misleading quotation mark. Well done

We are not living in anything like a dystopian society. This is not North Korea.

Flaxmeadow · 22/11/2020 13:51

No no one. No one at all. My husband pretends he cares. He ignored me a lot. He doesn't make eye contact with me and is on his phone always. I shout for his attention. Whilst I was sick he didnt help in fact asked me to cook, take his dad to the bank. I would be grateful if i never woke up. My mental health deteriorated over the years. That doesnt help. He's slapped me about a few times. I wish I didn't wake up again. Hes called me a financial drain, a burden, jealous, evil negative all sorts. Maybe I am. ...maybe I shouldn't wake up. I wish. So many people who want to live lose life. I'll wake up with the same sick feeling. 9ve no where to turn.

Sorry I've just seen your reply

You need to leave this swine. He will grind you into the ground

There are womens centres and charities that will help you. They are still operating over the phone.

Northernsoulgirl45 · 22/11/2020 14:27

@Northernsoulgirl45So people with legitimate conditions, should wear masks to stop the judgemental stares and tuts? Is that what you're actually saying
@userxx where did I say that? I said that the unpleasant individuals who approach medically exempt are in the wrong .
The others in the wrong are the people who don't believe in the Virus and incite others to not wear masks because they tell them to just say they are exempt because you can't be challenged under DDA.

Northernsoulgirl45 · 22/11/2020 14:39

*The disability discrimination that masks have brought about is horrendous. Hate crime guidance about it has had to be issued.

I also hate the whole pressure on those with disabilities to have to wear a lanyard to identify themselves as so. Why should they.

I know people who daren't go out for basics because they can't wear a mask.*

That is of wrong. Any abuse towards those unlucky enough to have an illness or disability is wrong.
Yet daily on here you hear things like.
Why should I give up x just to protect some old person who will die in a few months anyway.
Or the vulnerable should stay home and protect themselves while the rest of us crack on.
The World is overpopulated. Its just natural selection. Etc etc
O and the classic. ECV should give there jobs to those futloghed from Tourism etc.

Northernsoulgirl45 · 22/11/2020 14:41

@userxx rereading my posts it seems that the odd world has been autocorrected which could cause confusion but the main one was corrected

Northernsoulgirl45 · 22/11/2020 14:48

Word not world. I hate this phone

AlexTheLittleCat · 22/11/2020 16:07

@Spotify82 I agree with @Flaxmeadow, you need to get some support. Can you call Women's Aid? I'm so sorry he is treating you like this.

userxx · 22/11/2020 16:09

@Northernsoulgirl45

It really should be that way

Ah you meant to say shouldn't - with you 👍

HumanFemale1 · 22/11/2020 16:16
@HumanFemale1 Why the hell should she though ? What has it got to do with the covid twats in sodding Tesco ? It makes me so angry how judgemental people have become.
I agree, she shouldn't have to print it out and she definitely should not be harassed in tesco, I was just saying in case she didn't know!

GetOffYourHighHorse · 22/11/2020 16:21

'also hate the whole pressure on those with disabilities to have to wear a lanyard to identify themselves as so. Why should they.'

Totally agree, no one should have to wear a lanyard. Everyone is entitled to privacy.

That said, barring those with say dementia who don't understand and would get distressed, why don't those who think face masks effects their ability to breathe just use a visor?

VulvaPerson · 22/11/2020 16:31

I thought that the visors were pretty pointless in protecting others, and infact could make things worse?

Thats the last I heard on them anyway.

Good idea WITH a face covering, but without, not.

If thats the case still, then why wear one, to give the illusion of safety to others, while not actually making it any safer?

GetOffYourHighHorse · 22/11/2020 16:35

'thought that the visors were pretty pointless in protecting others, and infact could make things worse?'

Surely if someone is talking and spitting they will catch some droplets likewise if they cough or sneeze. Got to be better than nothing.

VulvaPerson · 22/11/2020 16:47

I did think that. Studies seem to say they are pretty useless though. So not sure why someone would wear one just to make people FEEL safer if..it doesn't help.

They can help if in addition to a cloth mask though, but on their own, not recommended.

VulvaPerson · 22/11/2020 16:50

The Government’s Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE) has also recommended hairdressers wear face masks instead of face shields as there is ‘no evidence’ the latter offers protection against Covid-19.

metro.co.uk/2020/09/23/plastic-face-visors-let-almost-100-of-airborne-droplets-escape-13313082/

Loads about them on there

It had me quite confused for a while, as in my mind, visors would be MORE effective then cloth masks, not less, alas, I was very wrong.

Only found out this via hairdresser friends, who were using visors because of advice, then found out they were useless and cloth masks should be worn instead

Losing jobs, homes, sanity - is part of the dystopia @Flaxmeadow

Keep up

Bouncycastle12 · 22/11/2020 16:54

Totally understand, OP. First lockdown, there was nice weather and the novelty. This month has gone on forever and every day I wake up and wish the day was over.
