Should we submit to the lockdown or fight back?

Just this.

I feel scared writing it. I know I'll be flamed.

But how long can people live like this for? I've lost so many family over the years - my mum too when I was young. We all get sick and die.

We can't lock up the whole world because of Covid. Are we just all going to submit? Or do we, should we fight for our freedom?

Man up and be responsible. Hard to enjoy freedom when you're dead or long-term disabled. Short-term pain for long-term gain. I hope.

How would you fight?

How are you planning to fight it, and who are you planning to fight?

Why don't you move to America? Trump doesn't care about Covid so you can live happily mask free! Until you catch it and either die or drown in debt from your medical bill.

And you'd decline medical treatment for you or your family if you were in any danger of dying would you?

I get where you're coming from tbh, this is a shit version of living.

Fight back how? By spreading the virus a bit more?

On the bright side if you stay at home you won't have to wear a mask.

How were you intending to fight back exactly?? Licking people? Coughing? Knocking on a closed pub door? Sit in protest in the middle of Tesco?

Oh ffs. If more people had stuck to the (not so onerous) rules up to now, we might not be going in to another bloody lockdown. I mean, ‘fight back’ if you like but don’t blame anyone but yourself if this all goes on and on and on.....

Did you actually take even the tiniest bit of notice as to what was said today? Potentially 4,000 deaths a day, overwhelmed health services by Xmas. That means if YOU or your family bursts an appendix, breaks a leg, gets seriously ill with anything other than covid, you will struggle to get the support you need within a timeframe that means there aren’t further complications or, god forbid, you die of something that could have been sorted.
if that starts to happen, panic will set in, civil disturbances follow and the army (which we’ve already been told is out there, across the country, in place if needed) steps in. That’s martial law. That’s really no way to live.

Oh don't be silly, the virus was never going to disappear, it doesn't give a fuck if you're following the rules to the letter or not.

Okay, I really need a mn break. I can’t deal with the level of idiocy. It’s not just about you dying it’s about putting doctors in a position where they would have to play God and choose who gets a ventilator and who doesn’t, then they have to live with that trauma. No doctor wants to make that call ever. So fighting back actually means behaving like a self absorbed selfish prick.

What does fighting back look like?

Funny interpretation of things if you think the lockdown is something to "fight against".

The irony is that the longer you and other people like you resist measures to prevent the spread of the virus, the longer we'll all have to comply with crude measures like national lockdowns. Don't you understand that? Do you also want to "fight against" mask wearing?

Go to a shop to buy something frivolous... oh hang on, they're closed
Go to the pub or a restaurant....ah closed.
Or were you thinking more of marching on the streets? Signs saying "Down with this sort of thing", heads on spikes etc.
Maybe an angry letter to The Times will do it.

It’s only a month? Don’t get me wrong, I hated the last lockdown but this one is a bit more relaxed in comparison

It’s important we ensure any restrictions are proportionate, democratically accountable and achieving what they set out to because they are the biggest threat to civil liberties in several generations. Anyone who doesn’t take that very seriously is sleepwalking.

Fight back against what, exactly?

It's a virus.
It spreads by contact.

So I wouldn’t use the word “fight” but certainly I watch with caution and consider whether they are something I would support beyond this particular attempt to lower the infection rate.
